We all remember the Simpsons as one of the greatest comedies of all time with it's hilariously dark humor and cruel satire. But its moments like these that truly made the show great.
Do they really make us laugh...all it is, is pop culture references and celebrities based episodes. The only episode I think really stood out in modern day simpsons was the one about Santa's Little Helper and his mother
I've said it before i'll say it again, the ending with Homer's mom leaving always stuck with me. Very bitter sweet, i remember thinking wow i honestly don't know how to feel. I was sad for sure but factoring in everything it just left me speechless.
One of the things I loved about growing up in the '90s was watching The Simpsons when it was brand new and amazing. Now the Simpsons is old and it's fading into weak quality. At least I can easily go back and watch the classic episodes now though
I’d say the most emotional one for me is the one where homer gets poisoned and is told he has 24 hours to live but instead of waiting It out he instinctively tries to do everything with his family and it goes to show that in your final moments don’t waste them but cherish them and make them worth it
Yup i did from 1989 to May 2000 as i was 5 back in 87 when they had shorts on Tracy Ullman and 7 when their own show debuted 31 years ago and this show was a unique anti-authority antihollywood satire that was rebellious like Married with Children was showing families were not all perfect. I remembered Simponsmania 3 decades ago and it was amazing even the arcade game, the video games for NES and SNES, the computer game, the merchandise and all. Plus taped episodes from 1989 to May 2000. But it had a heart and a soul to it plus excellent writing, sarcastic smart humor that was actually funny and relatable characters you connected too. That show ended with Behind the Laughter as to me it ended the show beautifully! then in September 2000 a completely different show that resembles The Simpsons only by surface but not the inside and is not the same show as The Simpsons, it's an unwanted spin-off that no one asked for called Zombie Simpsons. I noticed something was different about the humor/storytelling/characters i knew back in September 2000 to May 2005 as things were being different and the show was getting stale and i stopped watching The Simpsons in 2005 as "that 90s show" was the last straw. I tried to watch 2 episodes of Zombie Simpsons in 2014 and MY GOD they were awful and i knew why i stopped watching the show and only stick to The Simpsons (1989 to Behind the Laughter) . Let's face it, this show is a product of the late 80s and 90s as it kind of belongs in those times and is a part of those times and rooted in those times. Trying to make it relevant for this century just dates it badly and hurts the show. I mean today we have adult animation that are kings like Rick and Morty, Bojack Horseman and more. Zombie Simpsons is like a beloved childhood/teenhood friend who's been on life support for a long time, you've come to accept he's gone, waiting for someone to pull the plug so they won't suffer anymore.
I feel an episode that gets totally overlooked for emotional moments is 'Marge Be Not Proud'. The entire episode has deep moments but the ending is really beautiful.
The moments that always got me, are "Maggies first words" and the story about his Mom. Just seeing Ho0mer sitting and watching the sky with the music is just touching. Maybe you get me right, when I say: sometimes Homer is a bit like Forrest Gump to me. We consider them to be light headed, even dumb. But in the right moments both show they have the biggest hearts.
The episode where you learn about Maggie’s birth does a great job explaining why Marge tolerates Homer’s stupidity. Despite his many flaws, he’s still a loving father who gave up his dream job to work a terrible job that pays well just so he can support his family.
I adore the bit where Homer is sat on his car looking at the stars. It's beautiful how a small scene with no dialogue can still say so many words. (And I don't mean the credits! XD)
All adults are children even now, most have just forgotten it. The Simpsons does a great job of showing those times in life where situations make us remember, like when Homer has to say goodbye to his mother.
Simpsons was always emotional. Even when they were just being funny you would feel some kind of empathy with each character. Kudos to Groening and everybody on the team. P.S: had to stop watching at the "Do it for her" scene, sweat was seriously dropping from my eyes

@@debater452 Modern Simpsons is better than Family Guy ever WAS on its best day. But that's not a high bar.

@@michaelgreenwood3413 I fucking looove family guy
I don't think modern Simpsons is terrible. But I agree it deserves a dignified ending.
Back when it actually made some sense for Marge to stay with Homer
My opinion Marge being more responsible of The Simpsons since Season 8
The moment Maggie says " daddy" I teared up. I remember my nephews first words,
Can't just leave us hanging like that.
@@anonyman13 He was the father.
Modern simpsons can make us laugh (sometimes)
But early simpsons can make us laugh AND cry
Do they really make us laugh...all it is, is pop culture references and celebrities based episodes. The only episode I think really stood out in modern day simpsons was the one about Santa's Little Helper and his mother
Cuz he’s a Family Gu-
(gunshot)
I miss these old Simpsons episodes
Same
Simpsons with emotion is way better than Zombie Simpsons.
3:46, what really does it is the music. Just beautiful.
AND do NOT get me started on the last one. x
Totally agreed, it's wonderful. I love that moment. 😊
I miss THIS Simpsons
I really love scenes where we see that even though they annoy each other Homer and Ned really do care deeply about each other.
These will forever cement the simpsons as the single greatest animated program created,no matter how long it continues to run.
The one of homers mum leaving hit me in particular soo hard
Its so fascinating with the Krusty revival special. It's a show within a show, yet it made us feel like the Krusty show actually existed.
The show had class back in the day
Dude, Homer just sitting on the hood, looking up at The Stars, that Unbelievably Beautiful Score. Hits Every. Damn. Time.
i miss when the simpsons were actually the simpsons
while Homer isn't the sharpest tool in the box he's got a heart of gold, that is what makes him such a good character
Old Simpsons were so real in some ways. The most emotional moment for me was Lisa and Bleeding Gums Murphy's last duet together...
I've said it before i'll say it again, the ending with Homer's mom leaving always stuck with me.
Very bitter sweet, i remember thinking wow i honestly don't know how to feel. I was sad for sure but factoring in everything it just left me speechless.
Haha, I'm surprised someone made a video like this. The clip with Maggie speaking always gets me :')
That final scene will always tear me up no matter how many times I watch it. Brilliant.
I actually brought to tears at the last one since i still remember when my gf left me and we never met again😢
One of the things I loved about growing up in the '90s was watching The Simpsons when it was brand new and amazing. Now the Simpsons is old and it's fading into weak quality. At least I can easily go back and watch the classic episodes now though
Maggie's scene is actually a real tear jerker...tears like niagra falls
Best examples of why Old Simpsons gave television audiences so much good memories and emotional education
Nice pick for the final.
Never forget Alf Clausen. Even if you got too blazed during Half Baked. That man’s contribution to the show is immeasurable
this is why the Simpsons is timeless
Finally some great editing
Despite its occasional wackiness, Classic Simpsons had that slice-of-life charm that Modern Simpsons cannot fully recapture
I’d say the most emotional one for me is the one where homer gets poisoned and is told he has 24 hours to live but instead of waiting It out he instinctively tries to do everything with his family and it goes to show that in your final moments don’t waste them but cherish them and make them worth it
Remember when the Simpsons was the greatest show of all time...
@@Johnlindsey289 I think you should see Season 33. Also they still occasionally get it.
I feel an episode that gets totally overlooked for emotional moments is 'Marge Be Not Proud'. The entire episode has deep moments but the ending is really beautiful.
3:23 absolutely ripped the tears from my eyes, like for real 😂
Homer caring about Flanders is awesome
Aww 🥰 when Maggie said daddy 🥺🥺🥺❤️❤️❤️❤️
The moments that always got me, are "Maggies first words" and the story about his Mom. Just seeing Ho0mer sitting and watching the sky with the music is just touching. Maybe you get me right, when I say: sometimes Homer is a bit like Forrest Gump to me. We consider them to be light headed, even dumb. But in the right moments both show they have the biggest hearts.
The joy in Mauds face during the leftorium scene is just. Too much man. The old seasons they had so much expression.
XD)
That "Do it for her" moment gets me every time
The soundtracks on each of these are just... Perfect
