    The big question is, where is the glass made?

  • @PaladinBlades
    @PaladinBlades Před měsícem +6

    I was wondering if I was going crazy. I work at Cabela's and we got some Viper HD scopes in the other day. Had never heard of them and tried looking them up. Didn't exist. Nothing online. Good to know it wasn't a glitch in the matrix or something. They felt pretty solid, and I like the illumination on them. I've been really wanting something basically exactly like the 2-10x42 in this for my AR. I might get one!

    • @VortexOpticsUSA
      @VortexOpticsUSA  Před měsícem +4

      There still might be a glitch in the matrix, but these are for real! Let us know what you think if you get a chance to send a few down range with the Viper HD!

    I like it... But curious to know... Where are they made, and is the glass Japanese ED/ELD? Definitely going to pickup a 5-25x50 FFP VMR-4 to try. Just curious where they are made and where the glass is from. Also, does the illumination or parallax ring pop out of the side to adjust it, then lock it back in place, like the illumination ring does on the Razor Gen3?

    • @chadperry4021
      @chadperry4021 Před měsícem

      @@robertosborne1753So at least for my small mini action collection, yes you feel a difference. I bought a light weight 3-9 for my 7.62x39 total weight was 7 pounds 2 oz scope mounted directly to receiver. I wanted more glass on my 223 so I installed a larger, chunky scope with a pic rail. Weight is 7 pounds 11 oz. And it’s a night and day difference shooting off hand or maneuvering. Behind a bipod or on a tripod no difference. That said on a wood stocked 30-06 I’d prefer the heavier better scope. Hope that helps.

    • @elj4673
      @elj4673 Před měsícem +1

      @Daddykins303 Yes, I have seen the Burris Eliminator 6. I personally prefer a separate range finder with the Applied ballistics built in. Lots of states ban smart scopes and other states are looking at banning them as well. I own a set of the Vortex Fury 5000hd AB's they are good for the price, glass could be better and the processing speed of hold overs is a little slow. The Vectronix Vector X looks very promising for an LRFB

    • @chipsterb4946
      @chipsterb4946 Před měsícem

      Yeah! I’ve really enjoyed the podcasts. However, all they talk about is hunting when most Vortex scopes appear to be for the tacticool crowd or long range competition. Irony?
      I bought a Viper PST 1-6x LVPO because of all of the hype… without paying attention to the weight. It’s a very nice scope except for the weight. I’ve taken it off the rifle it was intended for because it makes the combined rifle too heavy.

    The 5-25 at 25 ounces is great if it proves to be durable. The capped 2-10 with a BDC is a huge missed opportunity. The 3-15 looks great except for the the absolute antiquated reticle and SFP. The red dot is great though. Obviously not Japanese glass or construction. Please at least be the Philippines and not Chinese.

  • @s0x18840
    @s0x18840 Před měsícem

    Wow, you had the opportunity to make an amazing 2-10x MPVO that hit all the boxes, and instead you made another generic hunting scope, very innovative.
    SFP: Awful choice
    Reticle: Awful choice, screams crossfire budget
    Weight: Amazing, great job, could weigh a bit more and still be a great option
    Capped Turrets: Absolutely Beatiful
    No Parallax : Awful choice
    Illumination: ehh, understandable given the reticle choice
    The PA GLX 2.5-10x44 smokes this thing out the water at a more affordable price with way more features. But I bet you want even more money for a scope that screams "We are milking hunters for their money"
    It's a shame because Vortex makes optics that are such a treat to look through, and they absolutely miss the mark on the feature set EVERY. TIME. But yeah guys, let's keep making more scopes for people who go to the range and shoot a box of ammo once a year every November, it's not like that market isn't completely saturated...

  • @robertosborne1753
    @robertosborne1753 Před měsícem

    I knew it was too good to be true lol. WHY ARE YOU STOPPING THE ILLUMINATION OF THE ENTIRE reticle and only illuminating SOME of the reticle? With more and more people adopting night vision on their rifles, this makes ZERO sense. AND STOP USING PUSHBUTTON ILLUMINATION lol. I doubt youre going to do it better than Nightforce and even nightforces sucks and everyone knows it. I LOVED vortexes illumination and reticles, and now you've gone in reverse. I just dont understand what was wrong with the previous viper gen 2's reticle? Why would you yank more illumination? I would have bought 2 of these yesterday because who wouldn't want a gen 2 pst viper with better glass and a locking turret? But then you ruined the reticle and put push button illum in. I'm good-I'll stick to the old gen 2's for now.
