7 ways to color wafer paper | Florea Cakes

- How to color wafer paper? In this video, I'm sharing my favorite ways how to color wafer paper + how to color wafer paper in bright bold colors without dissolving the material!
There are a few different ways to color wafer paper.
- Buy pre-colored wafer paper. You can find different brands selling wafer paper. Usually, it is about 0.27 - 0.30 mm.
- Use an edible printer to get any shade you want. The beauty of using an edible printer - you are not limited to pre-colored options and you can print different designs, not just full-colored pages.
- Use an airbrush! This is the easiest and less expensive way to get even colored wafer paper in any shade and color. You can use any water-based airbrush colors or, mix any gel/petals dust with my AC Tonic™ Wafer Paper Conditioner to make your own airbrush color.
- Use a mini-spray bottle. If you don't have an airbrush, you can get similar effect by using spray bottle. I love this Mini Misters amzn.to/3s0fdFp.
- Color your wafer paper with dry petal dust. You can evenly spread any edible petal dust on wafer paper using a brush and get very light and delicate coverage. I prefer to dust the smooth side of wafer paper.
- You can paint on wafer paper with gel color. This is an excellent method if you need to get those dark saturated colors.
- Color with oil-based colors. Those are the colors usually used for chocolate and candy. Not my favorite method because wafer paper is never becomes dry enough to handle, but might work for you!

As she was saying, the one she normally does with the moisture sprayed with the color, it does warp the wafer paper a little bit, but, that texture actually makes better looking more realistic looking flowers.

Yes you can! Depends on your humidity, but wafer paper is totally fine to be use on buttercream

Thank you! I developed a technique where you add special moisture to wafer paper, so you can vein, shape and texture it similar to sugar paste.

If I need deep color - I paint on both, but usually just on a bumpy side

Question though, would the wafer paper be adjustable to shape after coloring with gel or it would just break?
You can add a touch of glycerin to your gel colors and it will help to prolong flexibility.

You won't believe, but tomorrow's tutorial is about making wafer paper ruffles on a fondant covered cake! (I publish new tutorial every Tuesday at 10am EST). And I would probably airbrush wafer paper pink, before making ruffles.
