    You are sooo amazing!!!!!!! Question: I’ve done something similar before but when I attached it to my buttercream cake, the petals became soft and droopy.. do you only work with wafer paper on fondant cakes because of the moisture in the buttercream???

    • @annadwin
      @annadwin Před 3 lety +1

      i hope this is addressed...really an issue if flowers are attached to buttercream, condensation and all...

    • @winifredkristecake_
      @winifredkristecake_  Před 2 lety +4

      Hi there! So sorry I just saw your comment now. Yes Wafer Paper Flowers can be placed on buttercream, though you will need to take extra care of the environment. The reason why the petals become soft and droopy is because there is too much moisture (Wafer paper is sensitive to moisture), it means that your buttercream is condensating and is releasing moisture. However, if kept at an ideal temperature (& humidity - that means low humidity and air is dry) and your buttercream is not condensating/ melting (even the tiniest bit of moisture affects wafer paper), your wafer paper will stay up well. :) However if all conditions are too hard to achieve, the safest bet will be to place it on a fondant cake. Hope this helps!

      Another tip: Apply melted cocoa butter (a medium that doesn't melt when it comes in contact with moisture) at the area where your wafer paper flower will touch your buttercream cake and it will prevent the part of the wafer paper flower from melting :)

      Hi Penny! Just a normal floral wire that has a very thin layer of paper wrapped around it (the most common ones are white or green- in this case i am using the green one). As long as it is not purely wire that is unwrapped (silver).

    • @winifredkristecake_
      @winifredkristecake_  Před 4 lety

      Hi Dessy, 70% might not be the best choice as it would probably dry up too quickly, not as flexible as compared to a 40-50% alcohol content liquid, making it hard to make any natural looking impression/ indentations on the wafer paper.

    • @winifredkristecake_
      @winifredkristecake_  Před 2 lety

      This depends on the climate you live in, if you live in a relatively dry climate, you may choose to substitute vodka with glycerin + water combination (try out the ratio yourself since every place is different, you may start with a 50:50 mix first). If you stay in a humid area, vodka is the way to go to allow your petals to dry up in time to build your flowers/ leaves. Hope this helps!
