    Christ I've been having this problem for the past year I did lots of things problem was always the same no boost very small heels truck would heat up crazy the only way my truck with Drive it's with the fan manual switch.
    And I always have so much water in the tanks couple michanic took showers under the truck now I know what's really going on just like the other guy they all telling me I need to do a overhaul. There is no water or coolant mixing with my oil at all not even a single drop so nobody knows what the problem is I bet you many know why this is happening but not to tell and we all know the reason.

      NOOOO your compressor is not bad, it will drop boost because your compressor feeds off of air thats in your intake manifold because it has already been filterd through the intake and compressed a bit by the turbo!

      There's the head and the whole compressor. One may only need to replace the compressor head gasket (s) or the whole head but not the whole compressor unit. Or a head rebuild kit. $1200-$2200 as opposed to $3500-$4500.

  • @kingjames8283
    @kingjames8283 Před 3 lety

    This has got my curiosity. My Detroit DDEC 3/4 is spitting out coolant from overflow and also starts funny with a quick burst of white smoke for less than 3-seconds then immediately clears up and runs right on cold startup. I can see no mixing of fuel in coolant or coolant in fuel tank. Coolant is orange, fuel is green with no oil slicks in either. Is it possible for a worn out Bendix Tu-Flo 550 compressor to feed coolant to combustion chamber and exit via exhaust? My engine was professionally in-framed in June 2016 with over 250k miles since. The problem I'm having now with coolant forced out of overflow, funny start-up, and cloud of white smoke didn't appear until a few weeks ago right after my pro-shop installed six new fuel injectors. I took it back to them last week with this problem, they put it on dyno but could not replicate the issues yet they exist and I lost over a gallon of anti-freeze on a customers parking lot a few days ago. Some one asked if the amount of blow-by exiting my downtube was normal and my quick reply was, oh it's a Detroit, that's normal. Now I'm having second thoughts as it does appear to be more than normal. Thinking of putting truck right back into shop (3rd time in a month) for head removal and inspection of head, gasket, and liner protrusion. First I want to make sure it's not my air compressor doing this but it didn't start until after new injectors were installed.

  • @zanecrouse9837
    @zanecrouse9837 Před 4 lety +4

    I am having this problem going on 2 weeks. It seems that I get the over flow coming out once I've been running and truck come to a stop it over flows and spits out coolant. Do you think this could be the issue? Check the compressor? Suggestions???

    • @michaelwright1602
      @michaelwright1602 Před 3 lety +2

      Could be the compressor, injector cup or a liner depending on the motor, mileage etc... Do a search on testing the compressor here on CZcams, you can do it in a parking lot. Always rule out the compressor first. Test the injectors, you may have to take to a shop if you do not have the tools to test yourself. Then if that passes, check the block for exhaust leaks, I use the test kits from NAPA, around $50, if the liquid changed from green to blue, you have exhaust gas in the coolant... If you get a failed test on that, I would drop the oil pan, pressurize the coolant system to 20 psi and let it sit overnight, have someone with a bright flashlight get under the motor while someone bars the motor over by hand. You will normally hear coolant gurgling up at the head, you are looking for coolant on the liner walls, it will usually appear as small clear droplets. You see coolant, you more than likely have a fretted liner and it is in frame time. The head is a one time use item, and do not just do one liner, you will regret it. Liners, the block needs to be machined, or cut, and the liners shimmed to .0014 of an inch. Each hole should be measured for proper height. Look up the videos by Rawze.

    ive changed overflow tank and caps. i didnt see signs of liquid in egr pipe area.
    what are your thoughts on air compressor rebuild kits?
    did block test (same model from napa) but liquid color never changes. when head, head gasket, or liner bad will it always have liquid change color on block tester?
    will a blocked up radiator do this?

    • @BulletMcNugget
      @BulletMcNugget  Před 5 lety +3

      well the way you can make sure 100 percent is take off supply to air compressor like I did in video and run truck. If it does not build up pressure, then you found your issue.
      In my experience, yes it always changed colors when the engine was the issue. Hasnt lied to me yet lol
      Uh idk about the rebuild kits, I get Cummins parts for good deals so I always stick to OEM parts and never try to rebuild cause lets say you get same issue back later down the line then youll be guessing again, is it compressor or is it something else this time so I just like to replace it with new parts the first time and forget about the problem for a little while... but thats just me.

      @@BulletMcNugget where is your shop located ? I’m from Houston, Tx and my truck has been doing the same thing and I’m really thankful for this video. I’m going to follow your steps and hope it’s the air compressor that needs to be changed.

    If you put a water bottle on the little overflow hose/tube and it bubbles like an aquarium you are losing compression into the water system..looks like someone replaced head and head gasket on air compressor and it wasn’t a good job at doing it...

      @BulletMcNugget  Před 4 lety

      If you got coolant in the left side, you dont need the bottle, it already tells you you got compression coming into the cooling system, just gotta figure out where its coming from by running tests, etc.

    I had this happen, but it wasn't a dropped liner. the reservoir was cracked on the inside

      And how exactly does that cause psi build up in coolant tank ? I get it’s cracked but that won’t blow coolant out the reservoir tank ..

    Could this happen with the mx13 paccar engine?

    • @BulletMcNugget
      @BulletMcNugget  Před 3 lety

      Definately dont see it as often on a paccar but i did see it once.. blew head gasket cause liner dropped. But paccar would be the safer bet, to me anyway

    I had same problem and mechanic told me that l was needing over haul and they did it for me and 3 or 4 weeks before the compressor was replaced by the same mechanic. And now the engine has all kind of failures and a lot of codes. So is something they did wrong on my engine? If somebody can give me an answer please? What can be wrong with the engine and what l'm supposed to do?

      All depends what your codes and failures are. No one will be able to help without knowing what issues you are having.
