Why are you still promoting this garbage? You don't even use the service because you live in Canada? You say that all the payments go directly to the employee but they're literally getting paid less than $7 an hour. How is that ethical?
@abbeyskitchen I booked a cleaning with Homeaglow because I generally trust your recommendations, but I want to make sure you know that this company is a scam. It presents itself like the Uber of cleaning companies, but they do not train their cleaners, and their pricing is not as advertized. My first and only clean ended up costing me $185 because they force you to sign up for a monthly subscription, and if you cancel within 6 months, they charge you "full price," whatever they decide that should be, for your first clean. I would have happily kept the subscription, except that the cleaner they sent us barely made it through our bathroom in the three hours she was there. She was sweet and tried hard, but she had no idea how to do a professional clean. Her first visit would have ended up costing me $78 +tip rather than the advertised $19 deal even if I hadn't canceled the membership. I decided to cut my losses, pay the $185, and hire a local cleaner with some integrity. I just hope that others don't get sucked into the scam that is Homeaglow!

I went from being thin, to overweight, to a decent weight, to climbing up in weight again. The difference in the way you get treated and the roller coaster of feelings you get is so depressing.
The world is so unfair to folks in larger bodies. We should treat everyone with kindness and empathy regardless of size
@@AbbeysKitchenbullshit. When you’re overweight, you close yourself off to people and you try to be invisible. People can sense that energy. when you lose weight your confidence is higher. You’re more open and receptive. People can sense that and they will gravitate towards you. 99% of people in the world are not assholes. I’ve had doors held for me as a heavy woman and held me as a thin woman. It all comes back to YOU and the energy you are putting out. This mentality around other people being bad has to go. Most people are good people. Most people are not chauvinistic people.
It always comes back to self. Everything is just a reflection of YOU
If you close yourself off you are getting exactly what you want. closing yourself off because people are not gonna wanna be around you so you say they are “treating you unfairly “but what you’re doing is manifesting people not being kind to you because you yourself are closing yourself off. If you lose weight, you have confidence and you are more open. All of a sudden people are nicer to you. It’s all you. People are inherently good.
this is exactly my experience too! Underweight, overweight, underweight, average weight, overweight and back to an average weight. Somehow, it's being in that average bracket that has made me feel the worst about myself.
I got praised when I was thin, fetishised when i was fat and then when I finally reached a 'healthy' but average place, that's somehow the worst option!
@@adrianl9737 it’s all about you’re energy. Everyone is just a reflection of you. Have confidence and that will shine regardless of what you weight people will gravitate to or away depending on your energy and how open you are. Humans try to hide away and be invisible when they have low self esteem. It’s just natural to gravitate away from people like that

I was on wegovy for about 7 months. While getting off it some good noise came back, but eating less and eating healthier kind of made it go away. I started eating 4 meals a day with lots of protein and fiber and no restriction and the food noise went away. Like I can sit here and be hungry and not be obsessing over what I’m gonna eat. But before I went on the drug it was all consuming. And I’ve maintained my loss for a year now!

After reading lots about the gut microbiome recently, I wonder whether you could interpret some of that food noise as being your good gut bacteria screaming for decent varieties of fibre?

fat phobia and rude comments people in larger bodies receive is why everyone should be taught to NOT COMMENT on anyone's body, regardless of their size. whether their weight has gone up or down, don't comment on someone's body! working in an office of mostly women, it's so frustrating to see diet culture perpetuated and the negative comments my coworkers have about their own bodies and weight. all bodies are good bodies 💜💜
My body is an unhealthy body. It is why I started Zepbound, and my bloodwork and fatty liver has been improving. I really don’t have much to lose to begin with, but metabolically, something was off.
I’m the opposite ... after major open heart surgery my weight plummeted ... all I hear from people are the comments that I’m so skinny, I need to eat more or I need to go eat some cake or ice-cream ... I know several larger women and nobody tells them they need to lose weight or eat less ... I have now gotten to the point that I avoid people.
@@blackorchid2180just because you've not seen it doesn't mean it hasn't happened. Nearly every fat person gets told by someone to lose weight or eat less.
I'm sorry you've faced such intrusive comments about your body though. That's horrible.

@@blackorchid2180 Ask those larger women and they will tell you stories. My favorite was the dude who called me fatty while I was out for a run with my dog. I get that I'm bigger, and far from skinny, but I was running and he was riding an e-bike. Talk about somebody needing to look in the mirror. But we notice the glances people give or the lack of smile when it's our turn. How about the magic cure to all of your health issues is losing weight? You're there because your throat hurts, but have you considered it's because you're fat? That's what most doctor's appointments end up like when you are over a certain size. And yes, weight comments need to stop for all parts of the scale. People who are extremely thin are also very aware of it and don't need to be told to gain weight.
@blackorchid2180 everyone receives unwarranted comments about their body at some point. But weight (whether it's "too thin" or "too fat") is moralized and results in weight based prejudice.
So please believe people when they say that fat people absolutely do get comments telling them to eat less, move more and comments with baseless assumptions about the way they live their life.
And I'm not talking about situations with medical care (although there is plenty of evidence that weight based prejudice negatively affects your treatment), I'm talking about comments from family, acquaintances, colleagues and even strangers.
I used to fluctuate at 5 to 7 kg overweight, and was losing weight at a good pace with healthy methods once I found what worked for me. Then I had a prolonged period of illness which caused rapid weight loss. The weight has not come back, despite not being ill anymore. Although I'm not immune to weight gain right now (I could gain if I put in a lot of effort) I'm now still losing weight, albeit very slowly thankfully, eating until satiated. I'm currently trying some methods to stabilise my weight. Before weight loss felt like trying to swim up a waterfall, even with the best method I found.
It's not supposed to be like that, it's supposed to be easier to lose weight when overweight and far more difficult to lose weight when you're already at a healthy bmi.
I've gotten comments over the years varying in rudeness. My brother and I do not get along, and he once told me "have you tried going for a run? Have you tried not being such a lazy fat pig?". He, like a lot of other people in that situation, justified his words by saying he said it because he cares about my health.
My brother doesn't know me very well, he has never cared to get to know me. I've never been lazy or gluttonous, and I have the same behaviour now as I did when I was fat. I thought his negativity would end after the weight loss, but he has just found something else to be an 4sshole about.
That was just one example, but one that has stuck with me more than other comments.

Oh Abbey....I'm 8 minutes into your video and I'm in tears haha. I started my Wegovy journey about a month & a half ago (starting weight was 286 lbs.) and joined a mental health program the same week to help with my depression, anxiety and my decade long marijuana addiction. The program was daily group therapy for 3 weeks and now I go 3x a week but I've since been 100% sober since I started the program in May & have lost about 28 lbs. on Wegovy. I radically changed my eating habits, exercise regularly & work on my mental health every day. I'm crying because you just helped me connect so many dots. I've experienced an immense amount of trauma, especially over the past 5 years which just made me realize that was why I was constantly thinking about food, as a source of comfort. Wegovy has stopped that food noise and just like you literally said, I have been able to work through my trauma because I'm not constantly thinking about food 24/7. It's so validating to hear someone who doesn't even know me, say that. It feels like I'm doing the right thing, for once in my life. It feels SO good and I'm so SO proud of myself! These drugs are absolutely life changing for people with obesity who have been on the binge/restrict weight rollercoaster their entire lives. I’m pushing 40, and have been on and off diets since I was 11 years old. I’ve been on a GLP1 for a little over 2 years now (down 110lbs) and have finally found something sustainable that makes it effortless to find a healthy balance. The food noise is gone, and I finally feel like my body and brain work like a “normal” person’s should. It’s incredible. Eventually I plan to dial back and take a small dose for maintenance, but I have no intention of ever stopping.
I’m hoping as time passes that insurance companies will get on board with treating obesity as it would prevent so many people from developing comorbidities on the future. It would be helpful for sooo many people.

Whilst this may be true for some people, I am not one of those people "whose energy has changed as a result of weight loss?".
I act the same, feel the same and wear the same clothes. I did not become more confident or more at ease in my body. My behavior didn't change and there were no things that I do now that I didn't do when I was fat. The only things that changed is that I can now do the asian squat and I look a lot older (looks like I aged 5 years in a few months). I have not bought any new clothes and I didn't dig up some "sexy clothes to wear when I'm thin" from storage.
Some overweight/obese people are genuinely bubbly and extroverted without it being a mask they put on to be accepted. That's me, I just like interacting with people.
When I say there is a difference in the way people treat you fat vs normal weight vs thin, that does not mean people are actively and deliberately cruel to you. The large majority of people won't be absolute jerks in how they treat you if you are overweight/obese.
It's mostly evident from the way people act in neutral and positive ways to you and about you.
Losing excess weight usually will make people more attractive according to societal standards of beauty. Ask anyone who had a glow up if there is any difference in the way people treat them. But aside from physical attractiveness, there is also the fact that weight is moralized and fat people are seen as less competent at almost anything. The moralization of weight leads to weight based prejudice so when someone loses a lot of weight they might suddenly get treated better and no longer as a second class citizen.
I didn't personally become prettier. I was successfully losing weight at a healthy pace using healthy methods, and then lost a lot of weight in a short amount of time due to prolonged illness. I look older, have more wrinkles, my face has gotten more gaunt. I don't look as if I might die any second but I do not look well compared to before. My current body fat distribution is very unfavorable. Last time I was this weight I had a flat stomach, no rolls anywhere and my skin looked smooth and firm. Now I more closely resemble a party balloon after it was left in the living room for a week.
The weight hasn't come back either. Even though my illness was treated successfully and I no longer have it, I am still losing weight, although thankfully it has slowed down a lot.
My point is I do not look prettier (I would consider myself uglier now, and I barely recognize myself) and people still treat me with more respect now. And not because they can see I'm unwell. Strangers won't see that because they did not know me before.
I hide my saggy deflated body by wearing the same exact shirts I used to wear, they're now oversized on me. I haven't bought any new jeans/trousers. I just wear the smallest ones I have and use a belt now.
I have gone from overweight to normal bmi before, but in a much healthier way, and people also treated me differently after the weight loss. An acquaintance started making passive aggressive comments, guys tried to flirt with me more. I also wore the same styles then, but in sizes that actually fit me.

Majority of people really don’t care what you look like no offense, but you’re not that special. No one is that special. And I can be honest with you and tell you that when I was overweight, I was bubbly too but deep down I fucking hated myself. There’s many layers to the subconscious mind and the energy doesn’t lie because the truth is if you were bubbly and loved everything about yourself, you never would’ve lost weight to begin with you would have loved yourself as is

@FriskyTendervittles if you don't see how many people do judge others based on appearance alone (and this is pretty obvious from comments that basically any person gets more than a few of if they are online and dare to be average or below average looking, fat people even moreso, and also loads of studies about the topic and how it applies to people irl) it has to be willful blindness.
"Energy", which sounds very new age-y but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you really mean confidence and how it (or a lack of it) influences things like body language, is not as much of a factor as you think it is.
It sounds like you would tell someone who is ugly by societal standards who has trouble getting dates to "just be confident" as if this will fix everything related to how others perceive them. Being confident is life changing if it's genuine, but it doesn't affect other people's judgement all that much. Lookism, yes that's the term so don't be triggered, I didn't come up with it, affects nearly all levels and types of social interaction.
You're also unnecessarily rude in your delivery, and don't give me any "I just tell it like it is" excuse because it doesn't fly. There are respectful ways to voice your disagreement and your points, you just chose not to.
You have obviously no clue what I thought and felt about my body when I was overweight (I previously fluctuated between 5 and 7 kg overweight), my reasons for why I wanted to lose weight, my method and pov about it. You're assuming I felt a certain way because you can't imagine anything else based on your own experience. It's projection pure and simple. I liked my shape, I didn't mind my size, overal I was 90 % happy (not just accepting or content but genuinely happy) with my body.
That's one of the reasons why I said I did not get more confident and that the "energy" wasn't the reason people treat me differently now. I'm much more unhappy now with my appearance than I used to be. Yet people still treat me better. It's lookism and weight based prejudice. People act like I'm a better person now even though that's not the case.
I'm glad that science is finally getting better research done for PCOS. I was diagnosed in 1990. All the doctors said was that I would not be able to have children without medical intervention, and even that would be extremely difficult. I was never educated on any other health concerns that could arise. I had to do that investigating on my own, as newer information became available.
It's been a very long and heartbreaking road to travel. At least now, here in the US, insurance companies can't refuse to cover any/all reproductive health concerns just because someone has been diagnosed with an issue.
Women’s health is so under researched

Oh man, that weight limit marker of 250 is so true. Even if you weren’t planning on anything extreme, knowing you are even close, knowing there is a limit, means the potential for a public weigh-in, which is its own trauma, followed by the walk or wait of shame as you go to cheerfully ‘sit it out’ or find another activity that you can enjoy. I am trying hard to NOT measure my value by the number on my scale, but there is (at least in my life) an undeniable reverse correlation between that number and how open the world’s experiences are to you. Between that and quieting the chatter to make room for other, better things, these drugs offer the hope and possibility of feeling ordinary and average in the best possible ways.
I've used saxenda which is similar to Ozempic and honestly the most lasting effect for me was intuitive eating. Because of the quieting of food noise and anxiety it's allowed me to engage much more intentionally with my food in a way I never thought possible
Same here! I did my course of saxenda back in 2017 for a variety of reasons and I'm at a much better point of eating. Quieted the food noise. I have no guilt around food. It's so much more food freedom!

i’m interested in this. i lost 70 pounds(without weight loss drugs, and i am not against them- it’s just not my story or journey). i’ve lost friends because i chose to lose weight, i get treated like a person in public, i have social anxiety from going from “invisible” to feeling seen.
i’m really happy with my health and what my body is able to do now, but there is more to this journey than many realize!
I went through the same thing. I lost 180 pounds many years ago and lost a lot of friends too. A lot of my coworkers have never been the same ever since. I now too suffer from social anxiety. I try to look at the positive side, now I can fly comfortably in an airplane, hike, run….

I have two comments I’d like to add to your vid:
1. I’m not sure many ppl realise and you didn’t mention it either, but when the food noise goes away you need such robust mental health tools because the emotional and mental baggage that is left hits you like a truck. When your “coping mechanism” i.e. eating (or not eating) goes away you are left with all these feelings you have to sit with and FEEL. It can be overwhelming and can go really bad really fast.
2. You mentioned something about being on your happiest healthiest weight when your mental health is in a good place. Just because someone is obese or overweight it doesn’t mean they are in a bad mental health place (see weight gain from prednisolone and other drugs) and vice versa. Someone very thin might be Type 1 Diabetic and they’re thin because they’re on insulin injections; doesn’t mean their mental health is A+. Equally, someone with severe depression might be on their “healthiest weight” because they can’t find the will to live let alone eat.
Personally, both times I lost way too much weight, it was because I was so s..dal that all I could fathom “cooking” was salads because it required minimal brain capacity and minimal washing up. Also, I was walking endlessly because I was scared to be alone with my thoughts. To an outsider that could look like a “healthy lifestyle” of a “healthy diet” and “exercise”. I feel it’s dangerous to link “good mental health” with a “happy body” - but obvi yes this is true for some.
I feel Ozempic and the like are a massive life changing breakthrough, especially if you consider the so far alternatives of bariatric surgeries and all that comes with that.
And kudos for acknowledging the fear of gaining all the weight back because of how ppl treat you and all the opportunities you have because of your acquired thinness, and that weight-loss from Ozempic and the lot can be a highway to ED land.
Thank you for a balanced non judgmental approach. Yes it's awful seeing celebrities abuse it but so many people are telling overweight people that we shouldn't be on GLP-1s because "you just need CICO". I don't know if I'll ever be able to intuitively eat but the relief from non stop food noise on Wegovy is amazing. I lost most of my weight from bariatric surgery but at 5 years post op the PCOS symptoms and food noise have come back leading to some weight regain and my insurance approved Wegovy. I hadn't regained a lot but enough I met the insurance criteria for coverage. I think people who haven't struggled with the food noise will never understand how overwhelming and frustrating it can be to have your brain constantly thinking about food and then people shaming you for not having enough willpower.
Two of my favorite channels coming together! The "food noise" is definitely something people who have never struggled with weight don't understand, especially how it seems to be rooted in some type of biology. When I had WLS 10 years ago, the resetting of my hunger hormones was like a switch going off in my brain. It truly was as Sam describes, like being finally able to think clearly about food.

Ive been on wegovy for a month now. Even though major weight loss hasn't set in at this dose, the changes for my pcos are incredible, and I wish insurance and pharmaceutical companies weren't so selfish in providing access to the medications to everyone who could benefit. My high blood pressure is gone, my blood sugar is in normal range, my period has returned (after complete absence of periods), and I can tell my condition is reversing. I am even noticing my IBS beginning to not happen so often.
I sooo wish my insurance covered a semiglutide. It really should be covered for PCOS.
@@alisalaska1786 Truly! I waited over a year for it. My insurance still doesn’t cover it. I get it through a compounding pharmacy for $300 a month which I know is still a lot.
It honestly should be covered for people with PCOS. The ones who are just using it to lose weight should be the ones paying full coverage for it.
im so glad you covered this video. i saw it right when it came out and the specific part about how people being nicer to her felt bad, due to the knowledge that these people were (in a way) meaner to her simply cause she was heavier. As someone who has lost a lot of weight, it was a tough reality to deal with myself and i feel like it isn't talked about enough (outside of the "fat acceptance movement")
Yes. I have been overweight my entire life, I've lost significant amounts of weight at different points - for me I feel like not only are people just nicer in general, they *see* you. it's incredible that somehow being bigger actually makes people just pass over you and not consider you - And then when you lose weight all the sudden it's like you're a person who deserves their respect and attention again, no more pity or disgust. it is very upsetting, especially when you gain back weight and realize that people are thinking of you differently again.

Love Sam and totally support anyone choosing to make themselves healthier! One aspect I’d like to see explored on this is the reported severe depression in some that’s now being associated with these weight loss drugs. Sam herself seems to be struggling with this right now (she speaks about it in her most recent video). It’s an interesting topic for sure.

I think the link between depression and these drugs is the loss of "comfort" food brought. I have depression and childhood emotional trauma, and one big way I would self soothe would be binging on food (not just fast food or unhealthy food, just food in general) I started Wegovy (lowest dose) a month ago and I felt numb when I started because the food noise that would come when I was depressed or stressed was substantially decreased, like, it all went quiet. I didn't have that "tool" that I thought actually helped my depression and stress. That's why a lot of doctors suggest therapy to be coupled with these drugs if you have a history of depression, trauma, stress, Binge Eating Disorder, etc. because people who use food as a coping mechanism will need to find alternate ways to cope.
Mounjaro makes me extra fatigued which is depressing because I already have chronic fatigue. I think some of it may be due to the physical side effects like severe fatigue, nausea etc.
But other people would experience feeling depressed or anxious for other reasons of course, and the medication just does not gel with some people's neurochemistry

The interactions of medications is interesting. It would be great to see a video on that, especially the weight gain impact of corticosteroids (increased blood sugar, increased appetite) and how long it takes for our bodies to recover after we come off them! I've heard anything from 1 to 6 months before our bodies can start to lose the weight again.

I have been overweight my entire life I have had a weight loss surgery and this drug has been one of the only things that has ever worked for me - Even after I stopped taking the drug I maintained my weight loss, And I recently restarted it so that I can lose more - and quiet the food noise. I am neurodivergent so I frequently skip most meals in the day to be able to eat my "safe foods" - often my food noise would center around the fact that I needed to get my safe food.
I'm looking forward to that PCOS video! I have it and I'm on Ozempic, with the decision coming because everything I was doing wasn't helping my weight; exercising/moving regularly and being very thoughtful about what I ate and fueled my body with wasn't doing anything, I even began gaining weight once I was past 20 yrs old. When I finally got diagnosed with PCOS, the suggestion for Ozempic was really thought out. I don't actually know if it's been helping me lose weight or not, but people have been saying I look smaller (I'm doubtful but y'know). I haven't changed anything about my lifestyle other than adding the Ozempic in, because I had a routine that was manageable and healthy, but now it actually looks like it's doing something.

We don't rely on insurance for medications in my country, but I'm on mounjaro and that's not covered by our healthcare for anyone, not even for diabetes because it's so new. So I pay 350/month. But I definitely don't experience this "no food noise", I'm on lowest dose, I get hungry 3x a day, I think about what I'd like to eat and enjoy my food. I just get fuller quicker and stay fuller for longer, and am turned off by fried foods

I used to feel so guilty after eating every single meal because of my binge eating disorder and my larger body size that would lead to a giant binge. Since going on a GLP-1, I feel like I have so much of a healthier relationship with food. I can have a treat without eating an excessive amount of it. I incorporate salads/veggies/fruits/healthy fats/proteins without the guilt I used to feel. I no longer cry with every meal I eat. I have less of an urge to binge eat and binge drink. This drug isn't for everyone but it's life changing and really turned my life around.

I was a normal weight until I was 5 years old and experienced some trauma. I hit my highest weight 10 years ago and have since lost 160 lbs. It’s crazy and sad how much nicer people are to me now. There have been so many benefits such as how good I feel and being able to do things like go kayaking with my husband. I actually enjoy exercising now because I can breathe and it’s not painful. And even though I’m still restricting calories and eating healthy foods because I have a little more to lose, I actually enjoy food more because I eat when I’m hungry and not just eat to eat.
I don’t see this mentioned, and might have missed it but people forget the clinical trials people were eating the same calories. Those on the GLP-1 lost weight. So it’s not just eating less, guys.
From personal experience I can say that the difference *appears* to be that if I’m hungry, my body will NOT lose weight. That hunger hormones keeps it on. So I need to restrict more and more and more to even lose like 5 lbs. whereas if the hunger hormone (food noise that everyone calls it) is controlled, my body just releases the weight. I will eat the same on Zepbound and it just falls off by 1 pound a day because it unlocks my body’s ability to let go of the weight.
That being said, the 2.5 dose works great for me and insurance won’t cover it. I don’t want to go to the 5.0 because I don’t want to lose my appetite and deal with nausea.

Thank you for bring to light the cycle of shame and how that just makes gaining weight so much easier. As a bigger person in the dietetics field I know I still get some stray glances, but that's their problem. I work with ED patients and I can connect to them on a deep emotional level as we both know the struggle with outsiders looking at us and then us looking at the plate. I hope more medical professionals will start looking deeper into their own biases and learn that obesity is more than just a fat person being lazy and eating fast food.
I know how to eat. I actively enjoy nutritionally dense foods and even managed to get close to a goal weight a few years ago but the food noise fuelled by ADHD and trauma was just impossible. It's been a battle for the last 6 years to maintain even some of that initial loss. I started Mounjaro 5 weeks ago and holy moly I cannot believe this is how "naturally thin" people exist. It's the same revelation I had when I started ADHD meds.
I knew my inability to maintain weight loss wasn't a moral failing but I hadn't realised just how combative my brain is about food. Even just being able to go to a supermarket and get just what I need and not the 500 other things that sparked my dopamine spidey senses is freeing.
And that's it, the psychological freedom. I can now eat intuitively because all those skills I have learned over the years aren't fighting with the dopamine seeking bit of my brain. I just feel lighter all round.
I also think the emerging anecdotes and possible evidence of these class of drugs on other impulsive and addictive behaviours is pretty exciting. I'm seeing a lot of alcoholics who are using it for obesity treatment but finding it's also eliminated or dramatically reduced their alcohol desire. That's kind of huge.
It has taught me I was overeating. It made me aware of the portion sizes in the US that are ridiculous. So I'm using it to unlearn my food knowledge.
I was always very thin until after my 5th baby. With an extra 80lbs on my body, I was miserable. I had severe body dysmorphia. I didn’t see myself as big as I was, so I thought I could do the same activities as I had done previously. It was so hard to realize my weight had made me too out of shape to maintain my normal level of activity. I’ve lost 65lbs but gained some back and trying to lose the last 30. I have pre diabetes now and it seems like I gain the weight back faster than I can lose it. It’s so frustrating. I was always 110-120lbs, very thin and active and never restricted my food before having kids and needing to lose weight. My body naturally regulated itself…now it just blows up! So frustrating!

Soooo….Im 50, 5’9, and now 183. I started semiglutide March 2023 at 215. I lost about 4lbs a month….high protein, low carb, and reduced amount of food. I actually felt full when I ate. Like what?!
Menopause, plantar fasciitis (for almost a year in both feet), and a covid pandemic kicked my butt. I had to pay out of pocket and thankfully I could afford it. Reducing food chatter was huge and my food felt like energy….It was wild. I’m in maintenance mode and I fluctuate between 178-183 and I’m totally cool with that. I can be more comfortably active and I’m still not overeating so 🤞.
This is so true about the food noise. I never realized how much food noise there was until I wasn’t constantly thinking of the next meal.
However, what happens if you go off the meds?
I started a semaglutide compound in December and switched to Wegovy at some point since then. I've had a lot of success with it. I don't think I would be doing as well without working with a licensed dietitian. My dietitian has been so helpful with reminding me that I need to make sure I get nourishing food especially when I'm taking a medication that significantly lessens my appetite. She helps me make goals, like getting enough water so I don't get constipated.
My mom is using ozempic and the results have been amazing, she is so much happier and healthier

As someone who has lost and gained weight for the past 18 years I’m at the point where I’m considering this. Doesn’t mean I won’t continue my life long health journey with strength training and running and eating healthy but the food noise is a big problem and has been for a long time.
Being overweight my whole life and then losing all that weight after I had weight loss surgery was life changing. I have a whole lot of loose skin, yes, but that doesn't matter. I'm so much happier. It was a journey to get there. And it is NOT the easy way out.
Can you do a video on how to get off of these weight loss drugs without the side effects.
in response to the 'chicken v the egg' regarding insulin resistance, i think its different for everyone. for me personally, i had insulin resistance during my disordered eating phase of my life when I was actually 60lbs lighter. Now im much heavier but my body is so much healthier in the way I feel, my mental health, and my lab work/blood pressure. which I find interesting. I am considered medically "obese" and yet i am actually the healthiest Ive ever been. food for thought

I lost a good amount of weight because I was sick & didn’t know I was sick. Though I was smaller, I looked so sick but people were still complimenting me for how good I looked. Once I had figured out my health issue, I had gained my weight back pretty fast and I no longer got compliments. It’s ridiculous how much we hold smaller people in a high esteem even when I looked like I was dying people were applauding me…it was crazy. My mom also told me i should just not take my medicine so I would stay smaller. Unfortunately I still hold onto those compliments and what my mom said and it’s been over 10 years.

if everyone experienced a full day of being overweight, we wouldn't have such severe body shaming/bullying problems. people will never understand the severity of someone's mental state from the abuse you suffer for just being a bigger person. that negativity sticks with you for life.
I totally related to her talking about her desired relationship with food. I simply do not buy a lot of things because I know I am not capable of moderation. If it’s in my house, it’s all I’ll be able to think about, and I’ll eat it in excess all at once, or it’ll be the only thing I eat until it’s gone. It’s kinda miserable.
I've always been a bigger person, not always in weight, but in height/size, and I've recently been on a journey to lose weight/get healthy. It's easier for me to see it as a lifestyle change, rather than dieting. I want to make a life-long change, not a temporary fix, weight loss drugs have come up when talking to my doctor, but I'm very hesitant.
Can I quiet the food noise without taking a weight-loss drug? I eat healthy most of the day but have one moment almost every other day when the food noise gets to me, and I eat back all my deficit calories. I'm great at maintaining weight, but I can't lose anything, which discourages me and leads to more food noise.
I have PCOS and I feel like I am starving all the time. I also have a bad habit of eating to feel “full” instead of eating until I am satisfied, or else my body tells me I am still hungry. I don’t know how to break this cycle. I lost 40 lbs but now I am breastfeeding and feel like I am starving 24/7.
I'm in the minor group of people who's PCOS symptoms like heavy period, hair growth and PMDD got WORSE after weight-loss! It's what's known as lean PCOS - referring to the subject who has subsequently lost weight and not improved. It can happen 😞
What frustrates me is last year when I went to my doctor about this he didn’t tell me anything about these weight loss drugs. I see they work but I’m concerned about the monthly cost…plus it’s like having to find a doctor that actually WANTS to prescribe them.

If you are truly concerned about the misuse of these weight loss drugs why are you constantly promoting them on your channel? Specifically, why have you done a whole series on your manager Ginger who was not even obese to begin with and by her own admission, had no weight related health problems? I've also noticed that the judgmental, snarky face you are pulling in this video's thumbnail is very different to the thumbnails you use for Ginger's videos. If the misuse of these drugs is such a concern for you then the patient's reasons for taking it are actually something that need to be analysed. You say you believe in body autonomy but it appears this attitude only applies to people who are over weight or obese. When talking about skinny people you use terms like "emaciated" but when it comes to obese people you can't even use the correct _medical_ terminology and instead say things like "larger bodied folks". You sit there and tell everyone to "be kind" but you are not kind to thin people. If you were actually concerned about Eugenia Cooney's health you wouldn't have made several videos about her that profit off her suffering.
You don't believe in censoring science but you do believe in cherry-picking data and using it out of context? Make it make sense. Saying the world is made for thin people because amusement park rides and thrill seeking activities have a weight limit is absolutely asinine. They have weight limits for _SAFETY_ reasons, those limits are not in place to discriminate against people because of how they look. You also can't do a lot of those activities if you are pregnant so would you say the world is against women getting pregnant? Do you see how idiotic that is?

I completely support whatever people want to do with their body. I find it personally frustrating that influencers can afford these meds and everyday people cant. It kind of creates more unrealistic body/health standards. I feel like it gives fatphobic people more ammo to attack fat people for being "Unhealthy" and telling them to just "lose weight".
Are you having troubles with your insurance covering it?
I didn't think my insurance would cover it but I had my doctor do the preauthorization for wegovy and it was approved and I just changed to zepbound and that was also approved. $60 co-pay and with the savings cards both companies offer (you sign up on their page,) I had to pay $25 out of pocket each month.

I hope you can see this an offer advice? My daughter in law is severely overweight. I think she would be a great candidate for a weight loss drug. But should I suggest? She is in her 30s. The last thing I want to do is hurt her feelings in any way. She has been steadily gaining over the years and we have had a discussion about checking in with her doctor in case she had some underlying issue related to her weight gain. But that was a couple of years ago now. My gut is telling me not to say anything? What do you think?
Losing 70 pounds is amazing. It’s not enough though. She would be 230 which is still pretty high. I am 5 four and hit 245. I felt awful and I was late forties. I got down to 216. Felt better and then in the 205 area I was diagnosed with diabetes. A1c was 9.1. Went Carnivore. A1c dropped to 6.1 after 2 months. Got to 190. Still not acceptable. I am now pre diabetic. My goal is normal and to get down to 140 and not prescribed metformin. 👍🏻
I don’t know if you respond to comment questions but I’ve had an diagnosed eating disorder for 17 years and I never knew “food noise” was a real thing, I just thought I was crazy. Are there really ways to help stop that mental obsessive track??? Because I live my whole life based against my meals and what’s in my fridge….
How do we obese people get enough protein in? Can you make a video about that? I need at least 150 grams of protein per your recommendations but thats really hard. So curious what you would advise us!
All people, big or small, can get 150g of protein in with these tips. I've been doing this for months now.
1 | Plan your meals. Aim for 30-40g of protein in a meal
2 | Make meat the center of your meal. So 5-6 ounces of steak, chicken, lamb, ground beef, etc. as the main part of each meal. Add some eggs for extra credit.
3 | Make the rest of your meal nonstarchy veggies and a small portion of starch (optional)
4 | If you have an afternoon snack, have some greek yogurt or cottage cheese with a little bit of fruit, or maybe a meat stick like Paleo Valley/Chimps with some nuts.
5 | Lift heavy weights (heavy for YOU) to use that protein to build and heal your metabolism

You only need enough protein for your targeted weight.

Imagine being a young child who grows up with a mom who is considered "morbidly obese." As a young child, was so ashamed that my mom was the size she was that I would even say she was my aunt when she would come to school functions with me as I knew what kids would say to me if they knew she was my mom. How absolutely awful that was to do to my beautiful mom!! Weight shaming is REAL! I have apologized over and over to her for years as an adult prior to myself gaining weight and it eating away at me that I too, am that fat mom that a child may be embarrassed to claim as their own. Let me also touch on how how the doctors treat morbidly obese patients because Abbey, your statement about how doctors stated obese patients were their biggest waste of time hit me like a ton of bricks. So my mom would have sugar crashes when I was a kid. We would be driving and my mom would suddenly say she feels 'fainty' and ask me to hurry and grab her a piece of chocolate from her purse. Once she ate it, she was fine. She would say it in a frantic manner and I was never sure why. This went on for years and years, As an adult I realized she was most likely diabetic ALL those years and NO doctor told her or tested her!! So I decided to go to a doctor appointment with her and while in there, I asked my mom if I could ask the doctor a question. She agreed (she knows I don't filter so not sure why she agreed HA!) and I said to the doctor so I didn't sound disrespectful to my mom "First, keep in mind that this is a metaphorical idiom. But I am wondering why you, as my mom's doctor for 20+yrs, have decided not to EVER address the elephant in the room so to speak??" and he just gave me this look like HUH? I went on to say that he has been my moms primary doctor for all those years, yet never ONCE talked to her about weight loss, never once talked to her about seeing a nutritionist and never once even THOUGHT that she should be tested for diabetes EVEN with all the crashes she has where she feels like shes going to faint and frantically needs sugar to stop it. He looked dumbfounded. SERIOUSLY? He then, at my request, had her tested for diabetes and HMMMM...what do you know? She was diabetic ALL THOSE YEARS. ANGER is not even a strong enough word for what I felt for this doctor who contributed to my beautiful moms health to go downhill for years!
My mom now manages her diabetes extremely well and i'm SO proud of her!
Me? I was on wegovy for 3 months and have now changed to zepbound this week. I only have about 40lbs to lose (I lost 20 on wegovy) but I know i'll get there and the shame of being heavy and limiting will be in my past. I'm still trying to talk my mom into trying the medications but she's scared to and I get that but i'll continue to tell her just how beautiful she is no matter what she decides!
I watched this video after watching and reading some nasty comments on another CZcamsr’s video which talked about a social media account of fat women who talk about what to know visiting Disneyland and other amusement parks as a fat person. It’s incredible (but maybe it’s just selection bias of the CZcamsr’s audience) how many people believe that being fat is a moral failure and not comprehending the myriad of circumstances, environmental, physical, and societal, that lead to people gaining weight. They see fat people online say “so you are fat and want to go to an amusement park? This is how you can be accommodated when you live in a larger body, whether you’re on a weight loss journey or not.” and what people IMMEDIATELY hear is “we think it’s okay to be overweight and we want to enable that”. And OF COURSE a lot of the ire directed towards fat people is especially obvious when it’s towards fat women. It’s pretty thinly veiled misogyny.
Many normal weight people who never struggled with weight gain think that theyre resisting the same cravings as a morbidly obese person which just isn't reality. It's not self discipline if you don't have to try haha
