Is The NISMO 370Z Nissan's Hidden Gem??? **Honest Review**

- Welcome to the Nissan 370Z Nismo!
We are very familiar with VQ platform, in the form of the R35 GTR (that we love) & the 350Z...which Kenny hates!
With rivals such as the Porsche Cayman & Audi TT RS (of which Kenny actually owned) the Nismo 370Z sure had some tough competition!
With a naturally aspirated 3.7 Litre V6 engine, it was also deemed sedate by many.
We enter every car feature with an open mind, but I was doubtful that Kenny's mind would be changed, even by Phil's beautiful, low mileage example we have here.
Join us as we push this dedicated sports car through it's paces and give you some honest, home truths about this "old technology" based Nissan!
Massive thanks to the owner Phil for encouraging to, and I quote, "drive it as hard as he does on track".

Nismo 370Z is criminally underrated
Awesome to see a sudden resurgence for the passion of the Z. As a daily driver of a 09 Sport + Touring in pristine condition I can say the car is an absolute banger for me. I love driving the car and get excited every time I turn on the ignition, it's fun/fast enough for street driving, get's me in and out of lanes as needed, it is a ton of fun on the corners, it withstood the test of time aesthetically as I get a lot of compliments on the car, it's not riddled with excessive technology (less is more), and lastly it's bulletproof when it comes to reliability. Nice review! For those who want more power Z Motorsports is putting out an easy to install supercharger that'll bump you up to 500 hp on 93 octane for roughly 8k USD.
I love my 370 Z NISMO
...It's like a rocket 🚀 and so cool looking to!
Good to see a hater converted! I noticed he was hesitant and had already made up the decision in his mind that he wasn't gong to like the car before reviewing it. Afterwards I am happy to see him change his tune!
😂 I genuinely didn't think he was going to like it!
Like you said, he went into it already not liking it, but we try to stay open minded.
Thank you for watching!
- Drew
I loved the introduction Drew, that was awesome. I'm glad you guys enjoyed it, you have to throw it around to see how good it is. I'm glad the car changed your mind about Z cars Ken, the rear end really does grip doesn't it 😂
I hope you guys will drive it again once it's heavily modified
Glad you like the video dude!
Thank you again for trusting us, and telling us to drive it hard 😂
Definitely looking forward to driving it modified!
- Drew
Nice video guys and cracking b roll shots and editing
Thank you for the kind words.
Thanks
Ken
I need to comment just because i can compare this to several cars. Ive owned dozen of drivers cars and I currently own;
Integra Type R
M3CS
NA1 NSX 5mt
E36M3 5mt
Autocross Golf R 6mt( rip)
I just picked up a Nismo V2 6mt and let me tell you what an underrated machine this is. This thing is neutral, poised, with excellent feedback and dynamics. I will he autocrossing it tomorrow & feel confident it will do well.
Only gripe is that it drives a little big, given its weight. But thats it. Its a modern analog car for drivers. V2 also has some additional chassis bracing compared to the V1 that most dont know about!
Great video! I love the editing, took me back to Three fast three furious days 🤪
Would you recommend me Exchanging my mx-5 ND2 2.0L for a nismo? The ND2 is a blast to drive at any speeds but I really desire the looks and v6 motor.....
Hey, nice..glad you like the Z Nismo
It's such an iconic car - I think with time it'll be a classic. I'm seriously debating the upgrade when I have enough 😅. Great vid lads thank you !
Belle vidéo 👌 😉Une sacré voiture. 😉.. 🏴 🇫🇷 👍
370z is a fantastic sports car. It's a driver's car that's far more analog and connected to the road than almost anything in production today. I had a 2015 370z Sport for about 3 years, and it was completely reliable. Such a fun, sexy car.
I made the mistake of buying some cheap(er) tyres to replace the oem ones...the back isn't as planted...should have just spent the extra $ for the dunlops. Still fun but the back end kicks fairly reliably even in warm weather.
Cracking video as always boy's :)
Thank you Lee
Ken
Oh man i love that car! Still saving up!
Another vote for the 370z Nismo, 4 years of ownership and I adore mine 😊
Another awesome video Kenny and Drew more fantastic editing👍 I do like the 350 and 370z this one looks awesome! Yes very true the French can't build cars, Snake🐍 🤣🤣🤣 thanks john👍🏴
Sorry John, I've just noticed my reply didn't post to your comment lol
I appreciate the positive comment about my editing, always trying to keep it fresh 👌
😂😂 I LOVE the older French hatchbakcs...but yes, they weren't the best build quality...the fuel tank fell off my old Saxo VTR 🙈
Thank you as always mate! 🙏
- Drew
@accelerateyoutube it's ok mate👍 keep up the amazing content love the channel 👍
To anyone with a modified exhaust you need to get the fake Bose engine sound turned off by the dealer. It's easy for them to do but you might need to show them how. It transforms the car. In that video, from inside the car, that's all that I could hear, fake sound.
I have an Invidia Gemini on mine, which isn't the loudest but it sounds wonderful when it's all that you can hear. Beautifully built and gives it a genuine kick in the pants with better economy too.
Lovely cars. I've had the back end step out twice on mine but it was instantly catchable and very confidence inspiring in that regard because i've had other cars that just keep rotating[MX-5 ND].
😂 I have the same set up and you need the Fake sound to cut out some of the cabin drone ! Up graded exhaust means extra cabin drone ..i had to sound proof the boot ! Thats one of the reasons it there for !!
@@deanogee1510 Zero drone in mine with the fake sound off.
Mines a 2013 Touring Sport so doesn't have the fake in cabin sound. I did a lot of research on exhaust before going for the Invidia Gemini as it would appear to have next to zero drone and a more mature sound, turns out to be the best 1,800 bucks (I'm on Vancouver Island) that I've spent on it, it sounds freekin amazing, and along with a Z1 2.5" cold air intake made a noticeable difference to drivability and Umph!! I fitted Michelin Pilot Sport 4s tires, and an Eibach Pro handling kit with progressive uprated springs that dropped the ride height by 20mm (just perfect) and heavier adjustable sway bars - all this has made it one of my all time favorite cars to drive, and I driven and competed in quite a few!
Thanks so much for the brilliant review, the 370z is a classic in my opinion, last of a breed, and you absolutely have to drive one to appreciate that. I'm in my sixties but feel like a nineteen year old, and look like a Cheshire Cat every time I drive it ;o)
I can relate to much of what you say. I also spent ages researching exhausts before settling on the Invidia Gemini and it is a bargain for the perfect sound with zero drone + some extra power and better economy. The cold start up blows me away every time! I also fitted Pilot Sport 4s tyres, at 18,000km and they're still looking good at 36,000km unlike the Bridgestones at the same distance. I've got 10 years on you so it's more than enough as it is without going any further and I also feel like i'm 18[even younger!] again, especially when I wind it out to overtake.
I'm tempted to fit the Invidia HF cats and would love to fit headers but that[headers] is a major pain which i'm not doing or paying to have done, plus there are complications for RHD.
It was a great review and I appreciate your interesting reply. @@martinron
I’m d course it is love mine 10 years old. Still turns head
this gem aint no secret
21 thousand views in this video… definitely a secret gem
My 2010 370z base model still gets a lot of attention Runs great not fast at all but it does 70 on the highway easy.
Not fast at all? They do 0-60 in about 5 seconds flat and run mid 13's in the 1/4 mile. Top speed 155+. That's still pretty fast.
Great review!
Congrats on purchasing your dream car! They are very well rounded cars, and surprised both Kenny & myself.
I thought Phil was over hyping them, but I do really like them now! And they still look very striking!
Thank you for watching!
- Drew
Quit nitpicking it. Thos car is unreal fun!
That's just it: we were nit picking because it was an honest Review, and we couldn't find any major flaws with it 😂
It really surprised the both of us!
- Drew
I agree with jaded and spoiled, horse power numbers, greed.
It the times, the Art of great Driving gets trampled,by horse power numbers.
By allot of guys that aren't really " Drivers" !
Completely agree! I learned more in my 98bhp Saxo VTR on track, than I have with alot of these high power cars we get to drive.
CZcams is full of "1,000bhp this" "1,200bhp that" people forget about the feeling a car should give you, not just looking at the speedo and seeing how quick it climbs!
- Drew
I’ll speak for all 370Z and as a NISMO 370Z owner myself… The standard clutch pedal sucks. Buy an RJM clutch pedal assembly ajd thank me later, and the Z doesn’t come with an LSD. It’s an eLSD. Upgrade to a 1.5 way and it’ll make the car drive so much better and way more predictable.
eLSD? The Z has a viscous LSD (sport model and up).
I’m going to look into this, thank you!
Almost £700 road tax and in Wales you can't go over 20mph lol so sad.
Jesus! Yes, you're right, they are not too well suited for built up Welsh roads, but get them out I the open 👌
Thank you for watching!
- Drew
Just wonder if i can daily a z
I can't see why not, as long as you can afford the running costs 😬
They seem pretty reliable etc.
Thank you for watching!
- Drew
I daily my Z and I'm in the Northeast USA. @@accelerateyoutube
What year was this nizmo?
this one specifically I don't know if they mention, but this version was sold from 2015 till they stopped the 370Z production in 2020
2019.
❤ please stop saying Zed, it's just Z😊
Nice looking cars, but they just don't have enough GO in them
They are great cars but in the US people want over 40k for one with over 30k miles. Hard pass. Much better out there for the money. It was a sweet car but nissan went wild on the money for them and it's really not worth it IMO
😮 that is a lot of money!
I think because the world is moving to automatic/dual clutch transmissions & electric power plants, manual performance cars like the 370Z Nismo are becoming very desirable.
Thank you for watching!
- Drew
@@accelerateyoutube the 370z sport is the same thing without the crazy price
Found one for $37k with 12k on it...thoughts?
@gabedockery4825 low mileage which is nice. I'd grab it if the price is OK for you. The less owners and tine the road the better! You won't need to do much maintenance till about 60k unless you are proactive and replace or upgrade the clutch slave cylinder. Otherwise, Great
@@seethruhead7119 well not really, the Nismo is pretty different, a lot of upgrades in that version...
You know you both don't have to talk over each other all the time.
350 BHP NISMO
My car is 338.8BHP at the crank on a dyno
@@Phil16Wales You can't measure crank horsepower on a dyno unless you removed the engine.
@@hartsickdisciple A wheel dyno measures the power loss throughout the drive train by letting the vehicle coast in neutral after the dyno pull and adding this loss to the wheel HP gives you the engine power
the nismo still looks great and is the car to have, but every 370 is just too slow, it gives no bump in the ass
What would you consider fast enough?
I would be embarrassed to drive that
Why?
@@hartsickdisciple because it sounds rubbish and looks cheap
@@richwalker8825 I couldn't agree less.
@@hartsickdiscipletodays society spoiled him with dash and connected iPads on their cars😂🤦🏻♂️if interior is the main issue then this car is not for you🤷♂️I legit love the exterior and interior of the car
Ok, now let’s address the elephant in the room, it’s weight, something you have overlooked in your review. In my opinion, it’s the Achilles heel of this car. At around 1500kg it is just a fat overweight pig, especially as a fun track car, which I quickly dismissed in my selection process.
Safety tech and modern convenience are responsible. Look at 2 series
nope, it's visual package on top of the real "hidden gem" the sport model 370z
It has more chassis bracing, chassis dampers, an exhaust designed by HKS, stiffer and lower shocks and springs and stiffer ani roll bars front and rear. A sport 370Z can't keep up with a Nismo through twisty corners, there is a real difference that is more than skin deep
Both annoying had to turn off early..
