I signed on my 18th Birthday in 1970 and left the Corps in 1980, 2 yrs before The Falklands Conflict, I was gutted and I cried while watching our boys and girls leave for the South Atlantic. I heard from one of my old mates that 4 of my oppo's who I served with lost their lives. If I had stayed in the RM's I would have been with the guys and I could have been one of those who passed. I still feel guilty that it was them and not me that died. I spent 3-4 days doing nothing but crying at the thought of my brothers in arms. Once a Marine, ALWAYS a Marine. Per Mare, Per Terram ❤
@@avrilskinner5983 Marines are Marines- they have links to the Army, the Royal Nay and I would imagine, the RAF as well. My friends husband trains the Marines. He told me some things.
"Chimes of Liberty" is by Edwin Franko Goldman. It's nice to hear marches that are not played very often, especially by such a large very competent band. Best regards from Canada.
Royal Marines Band Service are just in a class of their own. Ensemble playing is so good. Tremendous rise and fall in their phrasing too. Enjoyed listening and watching this video. Thanks for posting.
Not in ceremonial uniform, but that doesn't stop the Royal Marines marching with pride and panache. Lovely to see. Professional soldiers. Love the Battle of the Two Sisters.
I watched the RM bands marching to beating retreat from this same route in Birdcage Walk back in 1984. They played "Chimes of Liberty" back then too funnily enough. They were led by Corps Drum Major Dawson. Blimey, it was forty years ago !
Even though only a rehearsal, it's a superb performance without exception ... This is how the Royal Marines Massed Bands shows the world how to march and play faultless music correctly. The dressing across the ranks and down the columns is perfect. They carry out this perfectly as well as playing superb music ... the "Military Bands Everywhere" video is also exceptional.
As a former bandsman, stepping out like this felt great and the sound down Birdcage walk was immense. It was always funny watching public try and keep up with us. We moved very fast.
@@MilitaryBandsEverywhere the difference why this is a 5 star rating is because you actually took the time to walk the whole route with the band and gave us the viewer a first person front row. Thats why you deserve a 5 star for the film work. That sets your channel apart from others.
