How did you know it was the display and not capacitors?

In my experience it's never the capacitors. Never have I had to replace the caps to fix a dim display. It's always the display that is faulty.
I know a lot of sources like blog or forum posts say to replace caps, but I have never had success with that.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, most forums say to replace the capacitors but that hasn’t helped. Where do you source new displays? I have an Electrolux Microwave with dim display.

So for this one specifically I had to remove the display and on the underside there was a sticker with a part number. I used it to find a seller on google. Ended up finding a Chinese retailer. For digital displays however which is what you most likely have it can be harder but usually there are markings with model or part information on the side of the display.
