    This video is *extremely* helpful! Wonderful job presenting the info clearly and with tons of visual aid and extra info. In fact, i came here to figure out a problem with the bake function and you addressed the most likely culprits in the 2nd half of the video--cracked solder joints. I'll get a look at the board and see what's happening. If it looks over my head, you'll be the guy I'll be sending it to. Thanks so much for sharing this info--it's really helpful and very nicely documented. Keep up the good work!

      Very happy to hear you enjoyed the video and found it helpful.
      I have another video from my other repair channel that targets your fault more specifically which you may find useful. I will link it below for you:

    Thank you Nick! Excellent video on how to replace the Oven Control Board Display. I ordered just the display and replaced it on my own. Thank you for keeping the part in inventory. I had no problem with the soldering and the new display worked perfectly! My wife couldn't be happier. I should mention I also have 10+ years experience in microsoldering for FlashFixers doing phone repair/data recovery. This was not a hard job for me. But if you're not comfortable doing the repair yourself, be sure and send it to Nick and he will get it done for you! Prices are VERY reasonable and it will save you the cost of a new stove.

      Hey that is great news and I am very happy to hear! Yes having 10 years experience working in the soldering field does help. The 2 reasons people don't get the job done right is because they A don't have the experience and B have a $50 iron they bought from best buy, Ace, or Home depot and the iron either doesn't heat evenly, doesn't have the appropriate tip on it, or simply doesn't get to the proper temps. Having good quality equipment, is half the battle.

    IPA can soften or otherwise craze some plastics. I always test in an inconspicuous area. IMO, there has never been a desoldering station worth a penny. I've always had better luck with a quality wick or even a manual one-shot pump. I always preheat/soak the board with hot air in the general area I'm going to desolder so the solder holes don't seize prematurely.

    • @NicksElectronicRepair
      @NicksElectronicRepair  Před 10 měsíci +1

      That desoldering station is really nice when it works, but it does require a lot of maintenance and cleaning and sometimes can be a bit frustrating.
      I do often end up just going back to the desolder pump like you said or desolder wick although recently the Chemtronics wick we buy has doubled in price.

      That's no problem you can still mail it in for us to fix or try and fix it yourself if you have a soldering iron.
      Check out this video linked below that I did a repair that is more closely aligned with the faults you are experiencing.

    Good day Nick, I have a Frigidaire control board 316455520 with a F10 error. The thermal probe has tested good so I'm assuming that the problem is on the board itself. Any assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read this message

    • @NicksElectronicRepair
      @NicksElectronicRepair  Před 9 měsíci

      Three things can cause the f10 error code, a bad temperature sensor, a bad electronic control board, or bad wiring between the two. To confirm, you have unplugged the sensor from the wiring harness, and used an ohm meter to test the resistance of the sensor? it should be around 1100 ohms at room temperature, if it's not close then it's bad and that is causing the error. But if that is about the reading you got, then use your meter to measure the wiring from the sensor connection to the main control board, if the wiring is bad, fix or replace the bad wire and that will take care of the error. If the wiring is good the control board has failed. You should get a very low ohm reading if the wire is good, between 0 and 2 ohms depending on if your meter is a little off or leads a bit dirty.
      if the control board has failed you can send it in for repair and we can fix it under our flat rate service.

    I have a GE range that appears to have the same display and the same issue. Do you repair these as well? No replacement boards are available.

    • @ohger1
      @ohger1 Před 10 měsíci +1

      Not speaking for Nick because I don't work on appliance boards, but these VFDs are pretty much custom for each model series. In other words, if you can actually acquire the fluorescent display module with the correct pin-out and graphics, the rest is easy.

    • @NicksElectronicRepair
      @NicksElectronicRepair  Před 10 měsíci +1

      We do repair Frigidaire, Electrolux, GE, whirlpool, Kenmore, Thermador, and a few others.
      I would recommend you contact us directly via the email in the video description with the model number of your range or the part number of the control board. Both would be best.
      From there I can get back to you and confirm if we have or can acquire the displays we would need for this repair.

    • @NicksElectronicRepair
      @NicksElectronicRepair  Před 10 měsíci +1

      A lot of different units actually use the same types of displays because the control board is made by 1 main manufacturing company. But indeed there are also some variants and they are indeed not always cross compatible. Once I get the model and part number information, I can confirm if we have the parts or if we need to special order the part for the repair.

    LOL! Just replace the display. I think anybody with good soldering skills can do that. But WHERE DO WE BUY THAT VFD display? That's the whole problem with this repair. Nobody will sell me that part. I do not want to send in my whole module in for a replacement service.

    • @NicksElectronicRepair
      @NicksElectronicRepair  Před 9 měsíci

      We have the display available for sale on our website, you can check the video description for the link.
      I personally have found the opposite to be true, but this is for a small sample size and thus may be skewed.
      So far the couple that we have sold on our website the customers have had problems with the soldering and couldn't get it right.
      I have 10 years of experience soldering so I make it look easy in this video. I also have good tools, not everyone has a $350 desoldering gun lying around. That makes the job a lot easier.
      If you want to try your hand at fixing it, simply follow the link in the video description for the display, and give it a go, but please keep in mind we do not offer returns or warranty on these displays if they are soldered onto a board.
      Before buying the new display I would recommend starting by removing the original one to get a feel for the task at hand. Once you have successfully removed the original without damaging the board, then go ahead and purchase the replacement.

      I don't think it's a good idea to do that because people can easily pretend to be me in the comments using fake accounts. They can then send you to scam websites or false email info and so on. Always follow the resources provided in the video's description, or pinned comments by the creator. I have my contact info, website and link to the repair service in the video description. This is the safest way to access my services.
      PS I do a 1 Year warranty on these repairs!
