Tails isn't canonically 20 he's 8, and same with the age you gave Sonic, he's 15 or 16 canonically.
And if you were stating the Chronological ages, Tails is 30, and Sonic is 31 Chronologically.
Shadow's actually over 50 canonically, seeing how he was created around 50 years before SA2.

With all fairness Sonic characters have different ages according to different games/shows-
For example in Sonic Unleashed he is 15 yrs old but in Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric he is 9 yrs old also in Sonic the hedgehog he is 36 years old 😅

So we're gonna ignore Sonic having birthdays in Unleashed, Generations, Runners and soon Frontiers as well most likely because a SEGA website doesn't update the ages? 👀 What is shown in the actual material > Whatever some website or SEGA staff say, the actual material matters more than literally anything else, if Takashi Iizuka says tomorrow that Sonic is 87 and puts it on the Sonic Channel we won't just accept it because it doesn't reflect into the material, he or anyone else ould say whatever he wants, there will be no substance to any claim of that kind, what's in the games actually matters, aka the characters have aged. Sonic ain't 15 no more, including all the officially established in-game time jumps like in Heroes and Forces Sonic is AT THE VERY LEAST 19 and that's "best" case scenario. If we give each game some room to breathe in-between he's closer to 20-21.
And it makes sense on their portrayals as well, 15 year old SA Sonic and 19+ year old Frontiers Sonic are NOT the same portrayals and you can see his aging and maturity in his characterization, and this doesn't just apply to Frontiers.
