I don’t know where I first heard it but it guided me during my time in Naval Special Warfare:
“You can’t be a good guy and do bad guy things.”
I went through six combat deployments and that was my refrain.

@@chucksolutions4579 The question then becomes, should we do bad guy things in the cause of good even if it makes us bad guys? I was just a grunt Combat Engineer, so I can't speak to everything you might have went through. I figure that if we can't do things as good guys, then perhaps it should not be done. I know that it is easy for me to say, after getting out of the service, and having only played the small guy role. But I used to think along the lines of "getting dirty so others stay clean" back in the day, and that has shifted. Now I'm starting to question if doing dirty shit is actually even all that necessary.
There's lots of nuance and philosophy to delve into on this, so I'll take it no further. I just am firm in my belief(now) that there are hard lines that ought not be crossed, means that aren't justified by the ends. And I'm starting to hold others to this same standard. I wonder if I am foolish to do so?

@@Arkancide hello! I think you are coming to the point I was at during my deployments.
I had no issue doing what needed to be in the thick of combat or initiating combat action against correct targets. But I never hated the individuals I went up against. I unapologetically hate Islam, and I often get frustrated and annoyed with Muslims (I wish I could honestly say I have a love for them, I’m not there yet), but I never hated them. I would try to say, “there by the grace of God go I.”
Anyways, I knew some people who struggles with this, who advocated the use of enhanced interrogation methods, lying and other such things.
I don’t think that killing is the worst thing we can do to each other, in fact I don’t really think a quick taking of life is that big of a deal, done for the correct reasons, but robbing someone of their humanity, this can be done a thousand different ways and it’s something I have real problems with.
I struggled with the Use of Force continuum, preferring to be thought weak and ready to execute those who thought it acceptable to bully or take advantage. This is just a small thing but considered the catch and release program that occurred both downstage and even here at home and answer what you think would work to save more lives and encourage all parties to live better?

Amen. I am constantly harping on this issue. They have very cleverly manipulated language to serve their interests, using the media and education to do so, and they have now fashioned themselves into the 'royalty' we left England to escape.
They are there to enact the will of the voters, within the confines of our Constitution and body of laws. They derive their powers from our consent, and they need to be reminded of that fact.

Every form of government (empire, republic, dynasty...) will end. Benjamin Franklin is famously quoted as responding "A Republic, if you can keep it." Therefore, It it up to every generation called to do so, to keep it. Yeah I feel that we need to turn back to our roots in God. It is the only way. Just read Romans 1:28-32. It describes America today better than ever and it is bone chilling. I really don't know anymore if our country can be fixed. But the scarier question that keeps me up at night is: Is it supposed to be fixed?

I'd say the people running the country are completely corrupt. The country itself is made up of people, and the powers that be almost never truly represent a country’s people. Not as a whole anyway. I think most people are fed up with the corrupt government, even some who were previously for the current administration. I love my country, but not the government.

The ones who control the list have power over those who are on the list. If you step out of line for a minute, your name will be exposed and you will face the consequences. They release names to show that they have names to release to keep those who are on the list in line.
You are being fooled... "The List", there are many, and none have been released yet. There is no plane runway on Little St. James. All arrive on the island via boat or helicopter. So, they had to be on a Secret Service, FBI, CIA, Port Authorities, TSA, FAA, or Homeland Security "List" taking off & / or landing on another island or dock (look at St. Thomas). There are multiple lists that all need to be released, combined, and cross checked.
I used to hold out hope that if there was a massive tragedy caused by politicians and the American oligarchy that everyone of all political affiliation would at least be able to get together to eject all politicians and govt officials.
Yet here we are with a literal child trafficking ring... endless lives of children ruined. And the public barely bats an eye. The majority of Americans are just lost in the sauce. It's so messed up and the public is more worried about what their pronouns are. 🤬
So sad. We know what's happening but we're too weak to do anything about it.
