And here is the public arrival of the greatest female vocalist to ever live. Our barefoot Princess of a thousand voices, the Queen of Jazz. She is a gift to us all.
The amount of emotion and feeling she puts into that one brings tears to this old greybeard's eyes. I pray she never learns from personal experience just what this song is really talking about.
Hard to believe this performance was 10 years ago. Angelina took one of the most notorious songs in history and made it sound like a lullaby. She said she chose this song for her audition because she fell in love with the melody. As great as this performance was, Angelina improved expodentially over her next 3 performances, to win in a landslide.
The smallest act of kindness can have a huge positive impact.
Can't believe you have not seen this before, great reaction and it should get better with each of the next three performances in the NGT: “I’m a Fool To Want You” at 7! In Acapella where it's clear this competition is already over, next Bang Bang where she ups the game, last and most spectacular Summertime. it will blow you away. ❤❤❤👣😇🌹🌹🎶🔥🔥
Her technique even back then was unbelievable. It's no wonder she won that show. Every performance was different, yet no less impressive.

After this performance was when all talk about Billie Holiday being reincarnated
in this 7 year old girl, and if you listen to Billie's original recording, when she was
29, it becomes believable that Billie performed both renditions. This 'vocal chameleon'
ability that Angelina possesses has been reinforced many time times after this, for even
if you listen to her 8 year old rendition of 'What A Difference A Day Makes, you come
away thinking it is Dinah Washington singing the song. As I said, there are so many
examples of her emulating the vocals of A-List artists that it's truly mind boggling.
Such a great idea to play this video! Yes, this was the moment the world first took notice of this very young artist whose poise and confidence was on display for all to see. Even at the young age of 7 years old the soulfulness within her transformed into a feeling of love so strong when she sang to us our hearts accepted her love before our heads had any idea what was going on. As you can see she was already singing barefoot because of her desire to do so (which she still continues to do to this day). The young girl she befriended when she was 6 years old who she gave her shoes to because she didn't own a pair of shoes touched her so deeply she never wants to forget her and to remember there are children in this world who need help and when we see her perform barefoot it might encourage us to do what we can to aid those in need. Interesting thought process for a six year older, don't you think? (!)
Deadgrl, continue to enjoy her, she sings 'for us' and when we listen to her she takes us into her world and it's a beautiful place, isn't it? We can't see it but we feel it.

Same competition BANG BANG in my opinion the definitive version of the song because of the synchronicity of a tiny girl with flowers in her hair singing the lyrics "I was 5 and he was 6, we wore horses made of sticks" in that voice.... stunning.

Thank you for sharing our mini jazz queen, must have watched this hundreds of times still love it just as much , never been a 7yr old jazz master auditioning with a Billie Holiday song , so confident, calm , poised unfazed by anything giving us all her heart and soul like only she can, didn't think I could love her more but it never ends ,she is my favourite artist ever ,no one is even close, I have listened to her every cay since I discovered her and it has been an absolute joy and honour to be an AJ angel .💗👣

One of the many stories about this performance is from an interview. Angelina said her mama bought her a cute pair of shoes to wear. Angelina said she couldn't because she had promised to never wear shoes when performing until all children have shoes. Evidently mama was not pleased. Love your reactions. Blessings

It was a delight watching you react to it. She can bring tears to ones eyes. Mom Sarah was certainly aware her little child was going to belong to the whole world now. ♥👣
Here is a quote from Angelina (7y) from an interview with TV2 after her Auditions NTG 2014. "The reason I chose this song is completely random. I love jazz, but" Gloomy Sunday "was random. It was a night I could not sleep and my mother was stressed that I was awake long after midnight. Then I borrowed my mom's iPad where I wanted to listen to jazz on CZcams before I fell asleep. Then came a picture of a beautiful lady screaming at the sky and with her eyes closed. I heard the song "Gloomy Sunday" that night and then I had to hear it every day. I love the melody. I understood well what the text was about because I know English well. Every time I sang it I felt something special about it, it's hard to explain in words. When I sang it for mom, she said that this song is nice, but that it was incredibly sad song. " ♥👣👸🏻🎷

Thank you Deadgrl, for this beautiful reaction. This was the first time I heard this little princess sing, 10 years ago and I have been absolutely fascinated ever since. In all these years I have heard it thousands of times in hundreds of splendid interpretations and yet every time I see this first performance of his at the age of 7, it still moves me, as the first time, with that wonderful concentration of humility, simplicity, candor, sympathy and talent. This girl is something unique and is so immersed in her singing that she manages to convey it to our soul. For me it is an angelic song that is renewed every time. 💛🧡❤
at about 2 years after this at Christmas time when Omer Bhatti was visiting his friends the Jacksons in USA he introduced AJ's singing to Michael's mother. Omer is the judge that was interviewing her.
