All of the 2D animation was done traditional animation at the time. But the stadium and some parts like the Moron Mountain planet and some effects like Stan being blown into balloon was done in CGI.
I appreciate this movie so much more now that I'm older and consider all the things that went into making Space Jam. Michael Jordan was basically acting by himself most of the time, and animating this must have taken forever. Love this movie.
This is the best part of the movie. They really nailed the intros. It almost feels like you’re @ an actual basketball game. I know this movie is supposed to be a “kid’s film” but even as an adult I really enjoy it. The most unrealistic part is when MJ says, “Guys… Let’s just go out & have fun.” 😂 I don’t think “fun” was ever on Michael Jordan’s mind when he was playing basketball. He was about WINNING 🏆

0:00-0:50 is just awesome on so many levels. Thrilling, exciting, yet still funny and without the toons going out of character. Animation art at its best.
