    If you read on the Sea to Summit site, they say to use the bottom of the pan as a cutting board

      @BeGoneForGood  Před 2 lety +1

      Yeh...but then where do you put everything you just cut?!? I will have to try this out next time so I can get my cooking in order. I can only go up from here right?

    Awesome video! I'm going to attempt moto-camping and cooking next year on my "big trip". I'm a total newbie to the camping and cooking thing and I'm thankful for your videos and gear reviews.

      So great. If you need any other tips or anything, please let me know. Good luck and maybe we will be able to see you on your big trip as we are in the early stages of planning one ourselves for 2022.

      Absolutely. I still have to get our interview video together. Ugh...so busy. I love that pot so much, I am thinking about stepping up to a slightly larger one as you can see my meals tend to fill up the little guy. Stay in touch and let me know how your plans are coming along. I am still planning on meeting up in 2023 somewhere in CA.

      Thank you 😋. It turned out pretty well but I am going to get so much better before 2022's trip.

    My wife and have been gearing up for a BDR in the spring . We give up tents and are going with Heaven tent Hammock system. We are sailers and learned a lot about one dish meals with a Jet Boil you can boil potatoes and onions as a base . Then add caned Chile or sausage. Lots of stuff. Good eating

    I know you’ve also had the vuzmoto tent, but was curious how you are liking the Hiby 3 compared to it?

    • @BeGoneForGood
      @BeGoneForGood  Před 2 lety +1

      They are obviously very different tents for very different purposes but I am a big fan of both of them. For extended stays, like Overland Expo or training weekends, I would bring the Vuz for a little more room. The Hiby is going to be my travel tent for Wyoming and I love it so far. It has a garage as well, but just MUCH shorter. It allows me to store all my gear outside the main sleeping compartment. It also gives me a place to hang out if the weather isn't perfect for me. I can cook in there, or shoot a video. It is just enough to be useful and I am happy to have the space.

      @@BeGoneForGood I’m looking hard at the Hiby, so I appreciate the input. I don’t do long stays without the family and we will be in the truck with the gazelle for that! I definitely like the small garage on it for sitting if it gets nasty out. Planning to do some of the TAT this fall and think it would be great. I appreciate your help

    Can you fry in it aside from boiling?

    • @BeGoneForGood
      @BeGoneForGood  Před rokem

      Yes…I have cooked steak, chicken, peppers, and eggs in the bowl just using it as a fry pan. You just have to be careful to keep the flames off the silicone.

    Nice job with the video, I liked the dialog about the sponsored chair. I have a similar chair (may be the same one even) and it has been a good adventuring companion. Question about the stove/pot: did you find and troubles dealing with a pinpointed hotspot while cooking? I have a similar stove to that, but with a smaller burner and stopped cooking on it, because it would burn whatever was over the burner while struggling to heat the rest. I have a Jetboil I have been using lately instead, but only heating water and coffee in it for fear of burning food to the bottom of it.

    • @BeGoneForGood
      @BeGoneForGood  Před 2 lety +1

      So I will tell you a little about where I have come from on the cooking side of things and we will eventually get to your question. I started with my camp cook gear on a Jetboil. That's it. The only thing I have ever cooked on other than this stove is a Jetboil. The reason I moved over to this stove was because of the issue you mentioned where the Jetboil would basically burn a hole through the center of my pan while everything else remained cold. With this stove, I can turn it down far enough that the pinpoint problem isn't an issue for me any longer. Now, this video includes the entirety of my cooking with the stove so maybe I will see some of the problems arise as I use it more. But, for right now, I am very happy with my ability to cook over this flame MUCH easier than I could with the Jetboil.

    Does the spoon scratch the pot?

    • @BeGoneForGood
      @BeGoneForGood  Před 2 lety

      I haven’t noticed any issues with it yet but I’ve only used it a dozen times so far. I’ll hopefully have a longer term use update at the end of the summer.

    Great video Chad. How would the pot be for browning or cooking the meat before adding the veggies? Is it robust enough?

    • @BeGoneForGood
      @BeGoneForGood  Před 2 lety

      Yeh, I know I didn’t do a great job showing it but that is exactly how I did it. I had the meet cooking in there for a bit before adding the veggies. As long as you keep the flames off the side silicone, you can use this just like a cooking pan and cook anything you like.
      I’m really excited to try a bunch of one pot type meals when I get used to this set up.
