I wish this video would never end. I could listen to Grosso and his wisdom for days...
you did it best Jeff. love you forever. RIP.
“The best is Mark Gonz. He’s Yoda”.
I’d argue that mark is Luke. Rodney is yoda 😎
Still watching when I can’t “Go skate!” It would be nice if Vans could find someone to keep reading/writing “The Letters.” Miss you Grosso 🛹
Brandon Westgate's worth a mention:
- SF driveway ollie (stay gold)
- bump to bar kickflip (new shoe part)
- treflip ender (made)
Blender by far had the best front invert so much style
Can't believe he's gone....🥺... damn we will miss you Jeff. Just damn....
I was born in 72’ skating hard thru the 80’s and Santa Cruz & Powell Peralta were the big dogs during this time. Both had the best skate teams at this time. I loved Zorlac and Alva too! His passing really hit me hard! I have more of his decks hanging in my house than anyone else (maybe 6 or 7)with Eric Dressen being a close 2nd in my collection!#RIP Jeff Grosso#Icon#🛹Ambassador#Vert👑’s#Trulymissed@David Aston
@@bondalero0074 Dude.... his death just rocked me. His story is so close to my own. Well, without being a ripping ass monster in the bowl and all his success as a professional skateboarder. It's his demons we share. That's what hit home for me. His triumph over addiction, and finding his way back to the front of skateboarding is nothing short of inspirational. And he's not the only one either! In my eyes, Jeff was this unapologetic skater who wore his heart on his sleeve. He would call out the BULLSHIT and be your biggest supporter at the same time. He demanded you to respect the pioneers of skateboarding and to never forget them and who they are. To learn their tricks. Damn man
....... He was, is, and will forever be my favorite skater. "Get out there! Go skate"!🙏
Same here brother! All our stories close minus pro skateboarding career! He was a real/raw dude that I looked up to growing up and still now inspirational now that we’re adults. And as you said,”triumph over addictions” and we all have demons but together we get up and use each others strengths and stories to do better. He will forever be my favorite skateboarder as well! I pray for the “Goo” and his family cause he was still young and needed by as all! We will forever remember him and his life, triumphs, rise/fall/& most of all his comeback! I am watching Love Letters with Steve Van Doran tribute as I type this!#StayStrong,GoFuckingSkate, and remember him tonite! “Your confused ,your alone its saturday nite, you have no pants!#Lol#🛹#Grosso@David Aston
Sure, he would not let this be stated on his own show, but:
Jeff Grosso's inverts
Always great to listen to him.
My first serious skate actually was the Toy Box Mini in pink. Great to see him being able to be himself after all.

Cool to see Omar Salazar in the episode! I always loved his style
RIP brother. One of my childhood hero’s. For good or bad. I understand now bro.
It’s all smooth sailing and blue skies from here on out Hermano. Dueces ✌️
Do a love letter to wallrides!!!
I enjoyed the hell out of this. I met Jeff G., Eddie, christian, steve. And many more when I was 15 and they all came to Georgia. That year Jeff Grosso had his board with that insane angle on the tail, too extreme.
Awesome, soooooo many great skaters from all the way back in the day up until now. The ride continues…..
Brilliant brilliant brilliant....
Let's do a Love letter on Skateboarding to Jason Jessee. That guy did a lot of stuff at best, and one of the most memorable skaters of all time.
Wade Speyer was a sight to behold in person, and I've skated with so many pros. So much power.
love this series, respect!
He needs way more of these!
AP and Phil Shao , John Cardiel , my mention to add is Tim Brauch, he made skateboarding look so fun. All these right foot forward all terrain riders were the shit
Mark Gonzales is Yoda
Thatsmy Dad ....and Bill Danforth is god!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mmm...rad, The Gonz's style is!
Yoda is Mark Gozales
If Gonz is Yoda, Jay Adams is the force itself
never been more stoked after a vid
Especially stoked on this one!
You have inspired me Jeff! I will go skate tomorrow.
Greyson Fletcher's Ollie North
He does a damn good one. That bare footed one over that hip was ridiculous.
Shef's fakie shifty over the table is one of the best things ever done on a skateboard
best episode yet!
Looks like from the comments you need to do a round II of this topic- Reynolds Frontside flip, Lance's Sad plant , Mike V street plant , Dylan impossible , Luan Hardflip, And let's give Grosso the back boardslide...
Pretty crazy thinking back on all this shit that was such a HUGE piece of life for me almost 50 years ago. i was lucky to learn to skate vert with a couple brothers one of which became a pretty well known east coaster before he was in high school. You knew he was special within 5 minutes of meeting him, damn did he ever turn out to be all of that. He was doing inverts when he was 12, like 77/78. Whatever was in Skateboarder in the issue that came out, we were on the half pipe in their backyard figuring it out. Me not so much, I was good at getting fk'd up and being a cheerleader for everyone. Nothing in the world meant shit but skating. Wonderful damn time to be alive in that moment - the first photo of Alva, frontside air - fuckin explosion of evolution at light speed pace. And BOOM - just like that it was over, all the parks gone - back to the underground ramps and jumping fences to the pools like we did before.
Gross, it's Winslow. Can't believe I never watched Letters before. So good, especially this episode. I'm also enjoying watching the Goo's progress via your Instagram. You must be so stoked. Talk soon buddy.
Dan Drehobl: pivot fakie
Lance Mountain: sad plant (specifically from future primitive)
love the love lettrers
thanks Grosso
Kid - Hey I'm looking to get into skateboarding. What advice can you give me?
Jeff - It's subjective and there's rules.
Kid - (confused)
I'm lovin the shot of Lee Ralph with the swept out Madonna @ 1:20 . Dude is such a machine!
No mention of Mike Vallely...his Boneless has to be one of my favorites along with all his flatland stuff
SylxTV His street plants were great.
Charles Snyder and still are great.
SylxTV backsidd boneless is different to the one your talking about
SuicideSkating i know the differences.
yea dude fuckin mike v, i learn bonelles becouse of him
Awesome. RIP bro !
Dylan Rieder's kickflip over the gap in his first line of Cherry is THE BEST I have ever seen.
Definitely, Ben! Dylan shredded like no one else in the game. If you were stoked on this episode, you can catch more from Grosso's Loveletters to Skateboarding here: bit.ly/2jauE7x
Thanks foreva Grosso 👀🤜

Long gap ollies - JEREMY WRAY
GROSSO is the best because of these vids im totally pumped to skate keep this show going GROSSO this show is RAD stylin'
Micke Alba..Steve's little bro was bar none the most underrated skate boarder back in those days. Him Steadham and Losi..never got the credit they deserved.
Competing on half pipes yes but before the skatepark era came to an end he was recognized as one of the best in the world. Mike Smith and Al Losi are two of my favourites. Their popularity peaked before skateboarding became popular again.
I was sitting at a bus stop down on Balboa in the mid 80s. Summer, warm, just beautiful. Steadham comes flying out of some side street, no regard for traffic, slides 180 across about a lane worth of asphalt and then bailed on fakie 180 up the curb next to me. So fast. Picked up his board and took off. A little thing, but the speed and aggression at that moment really impacted the way I skated for the next 6-7 years.
Losi got a lot of credit, well deserved. Steadham sucked then, sucks now. Two good tricks. MAlba for sure. Also surprised there wasn't more Lance in this video.
Love the Joe Lopes shirt
at first i was surprised when they didnt mention reynolds for best frontside flip but then i realized it's such a given no one even needs to
Ben Dover Tom Penny my man, Tom Penny :p
Kevin Staab thinks it's 89 and he's still hangin with the dude from the cure.
Another one that couldn't have been done any better: Mike Conroy's traveling method to fakie in Gullwing's "Full Power Trip."
Very good.
Grosso did it best god damn it
He sounds like Dr. Steve Brule at the end.
A.L. otter lol
7:27 this is a legend doing some amazing style here the board goes 90 degrees and back to crisp landing who does that
0:52 one of the best inverts ever
Nobody has ever made me want to go skate more than Louie Barletta, he makes skateboarding look more fun than anyone to me. And that’s the coolest shit. Gonz is yoda though.
Matt Hensley.
Rodney Mullen on the street, Tony Hawk on the Vert/Bowl, TA on the attitude, and Lance Mountain put the Fun back in it, sometimes u gotta go back to go forward
I know the letters focuses more on classic skaters and skating (and that's why I watch it - to learn about the 80's stuff and relive the 90's stuff) and he's a contemporary guy but the absolute best heelflip I've ever seen, hands down, is Neen Williams. He fucking throws that shit down like 15 stairs with his leg Liu Kang style out straight like a right side up Hosoi sadplant (I guess that would make it an inverted sadplant?) and catches it high and rolls away like its nothing. It's a thing of beauty, truly the most stylized (but not necessarily stylish) heelflip I've ever seen.
i like the launch ramp sessions in search for animal chin
Brent Atchley
YES!!!
Always
How could you leave out Lance Mountain's SAD PLANTs?? Best ever! :)
gt has the meanest fs ollie of this generation but those gonz photos are some of the best fs ollies in history
Gotta go with Cab! 🤙
Wade Speyer is hands down the best
That closing was him. I miss him.
When I think of front boards I think of Grosso standing on one of his huge 20 block slides looking like the DRI logo...
Uh, that's backside... a 6 block frontside boardslide would be spectacular.
FS 360: Jeremy Wray Backside Grab: John Reeves Tweaked Ollie: Kien Lieu
yeah more Phil Shao ! even Cardiel Said he was the best park skater of all time
"there are no rules its fucking anarchy..." "THERE ARE RULES"... Thank you Jeff for showing me that we all have contradictions in our lives! RIP man. never met ya... but I know ya
TA wearing the Swoosh, and if you look at the very first issue of a 1981 Thrasher the figure is wearing the Swoosh.
Hosoi's sad was awesome, Jeff had some sick ones too.. but Lance owns the sad plant. That is a thing of beauty.
+cberbes Thanks so much for watching! Lance's sad plant was definitely a beauty. Check out the latest episode of Loveletters to Skateboarding, here: bit.ly/2a7yeet
I’ll add Blaze Boulin & Brad McClain, both doin all sorts of best.
Welcome to Jimmy Wilkins time! :)
Gator - Front side ,360 boneless.😎
that guys got a sick samhain short on in the picture with nadis ollieing the cow
I'm realizing i don't know that much about Mike Smith. Do a love note on Mike Smith. I feel like there is a good story there, could be wrong and he may be boring as hell, but something tells me it's a good story.
Grosso and Cab for boardslides
the part at 3:50 had me tripping because that photo of Grant is my wallpaper
Art is funny, isn’t it… I’m a musician, and skateboarding is a genre of music to me. played on one of my favorite instruments. The music is entrancing and also maybe the most fun to make.
feel like he's coming up with the premise for these things like on the spot now lol like I liked the thought out episodes that were showcasing something in particular.
Of course you got Reynolds front side flip. Also Neen Williams heel flip. Sick as fuck.
Frank lannon, frontside carve edgers at the Cambridge pool
🤘🏻
Darrel Delgado had the best backside slash in a pool. First one to do it over death box.
Andrew Reynolds Greatest Frontside Flips of all time.
What's up, we're stoked you enjoyed watching Andrew Reynolds skate! Check out our most recent Loveletters episodes, here: bit.ly/1FWLiSP
Three things I missed in here: Lee Ralph Madonnas, Danny sergeant hurricanes, Matt Beach anything.
can we see a Neil Blender episode???
Looking back crazy to have a loveletter to style and not once metion Penny.
What Jerry said about Grant. Yes.
Jason Rogers from H-Street!
Necfkace having a hard time describing natas boards graphic jajaj "... the devil... whatever"
Graphic was made for Jason Lee but scared the shit out of him so Natas claimed it and destroyed the competition! My favorite graphic ever also (in my collection)and loved Pushead growing up too!#Neckface#Pushead#MarcMckee#101#🛹@Pelado R
Grabs sandwich and ques "Who Did it Best?" *
Knows vomit Cardiel clip comes up in video*
@ 4:28
Me: "Damnit..."
Ray Barbie has the best one foot ollie. So pretty!
Duane Peters roll ins is classic most aggro dude just sticks out in my mind
It's so hard to all someone "the best" but I would have to agree with the end. Mark Gonzales aka the gonz, was/is possibly the best ever.
Now that i watch it again, i cant believe nobody mentioned Ishod.
Or Rodney Mullen! Bastien Salabanzi & Tom Penny too?#Innovator#Wayaheadofourtime#🛹❤️@Selbunils
Skunk Williams - Under rated Aussie skater.
The fucking Nolder impersonation had me dy-ing. Cuz he nailed it so casually...
Frontside Boneless is not subjective. Jeff Phillips all the way.
hell yea!
Marc Johnson's manual combos
can we get a season 7 teaser soon...i'm sick of looking all over the interenet for finally a tid bit of information and it says something like "Coming real soon"
I donno who did it best but Jerry said it best(cause he said it the way I say it...same words too)
frontside flips? REYNOLDS.
