i remember watching one episode and at the end he goes « stop what youre doing and god skate ! » so i threw on my shoes and skated to Republique in paris and HE WAS THERE filming the french episode. i said whats up and chatted and i could have been a nobody, but i loved skating so we ended talking for like 30 minutes. hes the absolute definition of always keeping it real. ill always cherish that convo w grosso
that's pretty trippy
@@1MNUTZ hahah ya i kept rolling by just to be sure it actually was him and i wasnt tripping
Man when his mom was talking about how much she misses Grosso, I cried bad.
Me too brother, now go skate fool! 😆
@@randomschittz9461 will do!
You are always in good hands if this is how your mother feels about you.
Miss him too! His Mother seems like a wonderful person.
Me too
It's devastating to lose Jeff Grosso. He was the keeper. RIP
It's because of guys like Tony and Jeff I still skate at 41.
Me too!
43 here and still kicking around!
Same, even though I am so awful.
Same, I'm 38. Stopped skating for like 10 years and just now getting back on the board. Love never dies.
True for most of us I think
Damn... hearing his mom tell me to go out and skate brought a manly tear to my eye.
I was doing so well until that point.
Straight up got me too man. Going to go skate rn too.
God bless his mother. Seeing her speak about her son is just heartbreaking.
SHOUTOUT to ALL the awesome mom's out there. R.I.P to the legend of Grosso.
I recently seen a video where he talks about his board setup. He said he didn't grip the nose as a tribute to the sk8ers of the 70s. I just gripped a new deck and didn't grip the nose as a tribute to GROSSO.
LEGENDS NEVER DIE
I’m 67. Through injuries and recovery Grosso and the Letters kept me pumped. Miss this guy.
Amazing, you still skate?
@@morphosis7655 yes. Recovering from a foot tendon issue but gotta push on.
Loved the letters too.
@@stephenfernald2490you're an inspiration to me to be still skating at your age man, has your tendon issue healed up at all? Kind regards from The Netherlands
Nobody can get you more hyped about skateboarding than Grosso. RIP ♥️
💯🎯
"It's Like Flying " Jeff Grosso , (April 28, 1968 - March 31, 2020) RIP
Jesus bless you Grosso ✝️
When do we get a real "love letters to Jeff Grosso'? This was good but need an hour or more to really appreciate and respect the legend of Jeff.
Such a loss. The perfect human.
I love you Jeff! Lots of love to his family. Thank you.
You probably already know, but you got your wish bro
@@psychotropictraveler514 I got a little wish for sure. Beautiful.
But, sadly my real wish of Jeff being here didn't.
Never forget though, and he'll always be.
Damn. This made me realize how much i miss The Letters and Jeff. It was so exciting when i used to see that a new episode was uploaded.
same here
Grosso is the word “stoked” personified. I believe he captured the essence of skateboarding and passed it on to others. That’s why he was so beloved, admired. Just always came across as rad and a real ass dude.
-48 and still pushing.
Right on, 42 and still grinding
@@kryptichands968 39 and still slappin
Grosso rules. I actually cried when he passed
Same. I never even met him, but I immediately got emotional when I read the news that morning. Grosso was a real one.
There was nothing better than flipping thru an old Thrasher or zine or anything and seeing Grosso's big smile. True Living! RIP JEFF GROSSO. GET OUT AND SKATE...I am 48 and still kick a Grosso re-issue. So thank you for tattooing those words on my heart.
you never would have thought skaters would be remembered by something as socially iconic as the LA Times, huge love and respect to all who made this happen, the skaters AND the fans
I've only knew Grosso from CZcams. I got the strong impression early, that he was skateboarding through and through. Watch Loveletters forever.
It’s taken 2 years to write this comment.
All I can say is that I was late to the party and only discovered Jeff’s Love letters to skateboarding in the Christmas holiday break in 2019 and was instantly hooked by his honesty, knowledge and deep affection for the lifestyle and sport.
I was therefore deeply shocked at his passing in March 2020.
He single handedly reminded me of why I loved skateboarding so much. I’m nearer 60 than 50 now but thanks to Grosso I realise that age isn’t a barrier and will be hitting the vert again this year. Love from South Wales (Great Britain).
This one still hurts. My heart aches for his family and friends. I really miss Loveletters.
This was a nice homage. Very well done.
Gone but never forgotten. Rest peacefully, Grosso.
I was raised by my paternal grandmother. Im glad Oliver has his grandma. Ive met his mom Vanessa. Very nice & very sweet lady as well.
What sucks is we need Jeff, he was and is so important to us. A new episode of the letters was like Christmas morning when I was a kid, jus so excited for that new episode. I miss him so much
Beautiful piece. One of my generations greatest voices. Gone before his time.
Love Grosso forever. His mom, so eloquent and sweet, I feel for her. Thanks for the memories and making skateboarding fun Jeff Grosso!
"GET OUT AND SKATE!"- Mamma Grosso
He was so blessed to have such a beautiful mom. So was I.
Honestly, he's the one who made me go back to skating after I quit for 9 years. because I broke my ankle twice ...
i miss you Legend ...
Rest in Peace ...
I haven't skated since I snapped my ankle 5 years ago... I think I'm ready
@@AdawgSuperhighway If you love it get back on it
What were you doing when you broke it bro? Tell the story and save the next man
Jeff's mom is awesome! What a great honor it is to hear her talk about Jeff. He has become my favorite skater of all time.
Can’t believe it’s almost been a year. RIP in peace Jeff. Truly made me understand why I live to skateboard.
“Jeff was AUTHENTIC”. Jeff Grosso’s Mom ❤️
The only time I've ever said this: Good job LA Times
Really? LA Times has always been solid.
Right on bro. I'm 30 now, feeling it in my knees and back, need to be careful to warm up and stretch, but this helps me remember I got a lot of good skating left in me.
@@lucasquezada7513 learn to fall properly if u haven't already!
One should never bury a child; a wonderful tribute to a great and lovely man. RIP.
I’m 46 and still skate... Love It...
I had NO idea he passed that way. I’m devastated!! One LOVE to his family!!! Miss this man regularly!!
WE CANNOT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THIS MAN. THE EMBODIMENT OF SKATEBOARDING PURISM!!! ALWAYS KEEP IT PROPER!!!
It was hard to fight back the tears watching this one. We miss you Grosso!!!
Rest in Peace Grosso.. my deepest grievances to the Grosso family.
I about cried when his mom said “what are you doing still sitting here? Get out and skate”
Rest In Peace, Grossman. Love ya man.
16 years old and grosso been my favorite skater before I even knew who he was just from seeing love letters episodes when I was around 10 felt like I lost a friend when he died rest in peace grosso
Grosso represented everything I am. Thanks brother. See you soon 🤟
A true loss to the skateboarding community and the world. Storytelling is perhaps one of the most treasured gifts a person can have and Jeff told the story of skateboarding masterfully from the eyes of one who lived from its inception to the present. Grosso also ripped hard and skated with style and power!
RIP grosso, made every misunderstanding in my youth understandable through skateboarding and the letters
Even months after his death I still think about him alot and watch the love letters, makes me so sad everytime to think that he's not here anymore, I'm not really the best skater out there but he is one of the people that forces me to huck myself in the bowl
Miss you 4ever, Jeff. Thanks you the gift of you. Never forget this man
Homeboy knew what to say, RIP MR GROSSO LEGENDS NEVER DIE
Man, that closing statement gave me mad chills. RIP Jeff
RIP Grosso, thanks for the Love letters videos. 🤘🤘Skate history lessons couldn't have had a better teacher.
I thought I missed the 80's but I miss Grosso more. 😔 True thrashing skate punk rip
I always loved the way Jeff did inverts. It was amazing having him as an ambassador for skating. Miss you, dude.
Grosso was a Brutally Honest Human I sincerely Miss.
He changed my life, Grossoforever🤘
As a skater in the 90s, Loved Jeff for his character and rad inverts!
The real deal!
God bless him and his Mum! 🙏🏼
My first pro-Deck as a kid was a Jeff Grosso Halfpipe - Model & I was so proud of it.
R.I.P. my childhood-hero!!! 🙏
I skated in 1979 thru the 80's and into the 90s I'm 56 now and all my friends and l always looked up to the pro's in California us being from Arizona, and grosso was always an inspiration to us here in Az,and I'll miss the love letters show I watched it each and every one because he would bring me back to the 80's and vert skating ,I miss the show so much because it feels like that era of skating is fading and grosso kept it alive with the show ,rest in peace Jeff grosso thank you for all the memories and all the bad ass skating you did ! you are a legend and allways will be'!
I was skating a ramp solo and was about to leave when Jeff and Lance arrived, so i naturally got a second wind and hung around. It took me a second then i realised "Holy f*ck that's Jeff Grosso - he's still skating!"
Soon into the session he got angry, stared closely at his board, then walked towards me (intimidating dude!), snatched mine from my hands to look at my wheels, then his eyes started darting all around the ramp. It turned out there was wet paint somewhere that he had ridden through so we hunted around for it but couldn't find the source.
He wiped his wheels dry, the three of us skated for a good while (i was so psyched i went harder than ever), he gave me a few 'woots' and board taps just as any other skater would when you see someone do something that's at the limit of their ability, then I left completely pumped that I got to skate with two icons and not only that, I got to experience gnarly pissed Grosso too!
Around 6 months after that, the first episode of Letters aired and as Tony said, a whole new generation got to know who Jeff Grosso was too. He had his demons but he also had an enormous heart, which is evident because Lizzy loved him so much and she's a freaking angel.
Love you Jeff , rest in peace a true legend
Never met the dude, but through the letters, I felt like I knew him.
You gotta love Grosso! Loveletters is one of the things that inspired me to get back into skating...man I miss that dude and his infectious humour... RIP in heaven Jeff...
This was emotional ❤️. I’m 45, back skating after an extremely long break( decades). I just got myself a Grosso 9.25 today. Can’t wait to skate it.
coolest dude in skateboarding. beats out every one of your favourite pros with authenticity. a tru legend grosso forever!!
Shout out to Grosso man, I got to see him skate live in Huntington Beach in the early 2000's. He was badass! R.I.P bud.
A wonderfully touching tribute to one of the sport’s legends. Great and introspective interviews from those who loved him. He is greatly missed. ❤️ 🙏
Jeff grasso was a gift from god to anyone who got the privilege of watching him I only wish I got to meet him In person

Awesome tribute to the legend that is Grosso. Thank you for covering this incredible story 💓
What a guy...damn just....what a guy
Hes on the 'forefront of fashion'....Eyebrows Gone.
LMAO
Damn dude he was one of skaters i looked up to growing up in the 80’s and 90’s.
I’ll never stop missing him and I never met him.
So rad to see and know that Jeff’s mom is aware of how much he was loved and respected.
I’ve been so looking forward to hearing Lance speak publicly about Jeff’s passing, and strangely it hasn’t happened that I’m aware of.
RIP Jeff, you did well here, one day we will crack inverts all day long. Respect & love for teaching me how its done properly & much more.
I dunno how I never saw this - so glad to see his mom speak about him
Out of the loop....didn't know he passed. Loved his "Loveletter's" series !!
Love letters To Skateboarding. On Vans channel. Every episode is timeless. Grosso is so genuine and hilarious while teaching us the proper history and culture of skating.
It's been almost a year. I miss that man. Anybody here not familiar with him, just look up "Loveletters to Skateboarding"
Grosso forever!! Love from Scotland 🏴
I skated with Grosso and Lucero the night before the first Savanah Slamma comp. He told me my slappies sucked and my ollies were weak. That was his way of critiquing me and I didn’t even mind, rather it inspired me to up my game and get better.
Now I’m about to set this phone down and go out and skate with my son, more than 30 years later.
That's awesome. Cheers
This man is a legend forever
descansa en paz. straight legend right there
