You just don't get the excitement thing because you are reacting to the old mvs, performances etc. But when you were waiting for the album, watched teaser photos, videos, made you own predictions what it's gonna be. And it finally drops, it's amazing emotions. Especially then it was album series with dark, painful esthetic and Fire didn't fit in the album sad concept (it was really unexpected for that era fans).
Of course if I surprisingly didn't watch Fire mv, it will be no shoking for me because I'm watching from today's perspective, knowing their whole career. Time when songs were released is also really important. Now many kpop groups have their own "Fire" but the iconic one is bangtans.

    47-year-old ARMY here. :)
Every generation has had its struggles, yes - but today's young adults are the first generation who will not _on average_ do better than their parents. Since the war/the great depression every generation has seen greater wealth, greater opportunities, greater improvement in lifestyle. (Again, on average/major trends.) The last depression was a big road bump, but it didn't affect everyone the way the great depression of the early 1900s did.
The part BTS is protesting is the one where the parental generation (in South Korea, but also a certain part of "boomer culture") still believe that simply "working hard" will result in reaping good rewards, having a good life etc. But the math doesn't add up, and the young adults of today have gradually learned that putting in "that little bit extra" does NOT earn them a promotion with a bigger paycheck, instead it leads to unpaid labor being the new norm.
In South Korea, housing prices etc. skyrocketed and the fabled "study hard, get into one of the big 3 universities and you'll get a fat government or finance job" is no longer a guaranteed ticket to success, and the competition has become so unbelievably fierce that when BTS started out, the South Korean sui*** statistics for young people were among the worst in the world.
The Bapsae song is about people who are in a position of privilege telling struggling youngsters to just "try harder", and call out the kind of culture where people are expected to work for free for "exposure" or "experience"

The guy who talk with Jungkook is, Lee Minwoo. He is a member of Shinwa. Shinwa is kpop idol from first generation. They are one of the biggest group on their generation and now they are considerate as legendary group too in korea. Despite they are bigger senior in industry but they are really kind with new artist. The one who teaching BTS how to give greetings professionally on their rookie days it was Shinwa. It was when BTS perform on their debut day on music show and they heard Shinwa is coming too at there, so BTS decide to come to Shinwa waiting room to greet them as newbie junior in music industry. So Shinwa asked them, did they have official greeting on stage? BTS said yes, and they shows their official greetings but it was a mess 😂😂 so Shinwa teaches them to fix their official greetings coz first impression is really important especially for rookie. Then BTS comes up with handgun gesture as their official greetings it because of Shinwa help.

BTS was many people's introduction to kpop: the big stages, intense choreography while singing & rapping, a whole performance. BTS not only popularized that but all over the world they were many people's introduction to things of that scale and magnitude in a preformance. A new thing like that garnered a lot of new eyes.

BTS were a new thing people hadn't seen before and people's reactions to their music and preformances were a sign of the times: BTS was going to become the next big thing. Although some reaction videos are over the top and played for views, it is not surprising to me that many reactors are genuinely amazed and intrigued by seeing BTS and their amazing preformances.

Bts did change around 2021 . They had to . Not only did they grow up but the industry widened them up and unintentionally they changed . They are now superstars and with that comes a lifestyle that they have to live that cannot be free like the average person . They finally realised that they are famous , that everything they do and say makes the news . Military definitely grounds them again which is very very good but they know that they can’t take the train anymore like they use to . Jungkook can’t just roam around and watch teens do street performances to kpop , they can’t just go into a restaurant unnoticed . They know their lives are not safe when they abroad and it’s as safe as it can be only in Korea but even in Korea they have crazy fans who stalk them in a bad way but in other countries their lives are actually threatened . Such fame does impact on the ego , they are human but their culture keeps them levelled .. they know that their success is because of their fans and they are naturally appreciative because they know that an end does come . They are very aware of how easy it is to lose ur success and fame .. they will always be different to the older western artists. Cardi b is one of the few who used social media to build her career and she is still very thankful to her fans and continues to bridge the gap between her and her fans thru social media interaction but she changed because she had to .. people who become famous have to change because of security risks .. bts is still very grateful to the fans but they are grown men now and naturally they change ..

ThatKs what people don’t get about Kpop and why we love it so much. It’s not just the music, it’s the FACT that the groups (at least the ones I love-obviously BTS included) make an effort with their fans, even groups that are on breaks for their military service. The members are always posting things or going live or go on variety shows and mention us….it means a lot when you’re always coming out of pocket to support someone. Feeling like your artist truly values your support is great and makes it all worth it.
Even sometimes in the middle of the night sometimes they’ll go live and just as “what are you guys doing?” or “how was your day?”….(or in Jungkook’s case, give us karaoke concerts for hours lol…it means a lot

17:26 It’s not like he’s their mentor. This is a special meeting with a member of an older group that JK/BTS or any young group would admire (essentially, meaning a celebrity for what it like, a show). JK was nervous in meeting him and this guy gave advice because he’s much older and more experience being in a group. When they keep blowing up bigger and bigger in their career, they don’t have someone they could talk to about handling this (who they can trust) because there are not a lot of people who knows what it’s like to be in their position. They were lonely in that aspect. They admitted it recent years. Suga wrote Snooze from his album this year, giving advice and encouragement to those who come after/younger than they are, Suga/BTS know what it’s like and want to help them get through it.

24:22 i guess it is true, that every generation has their problems, but you should always keep in mind, that the korean culture is VERY different to western culture. respect and hierarchy are huge there, and i often think it's more honorable than in the western world, but at the same time, it is also used to suppress your younger generations. in this song, they speak about elders using this respect and hierarchy thing in a negative way (which really is common in most areas of life in their culture), so you can't really compare it to just problems every generation suffers from

Koreans don’t think of alcohol as destructive . They promote alcohol . It’s not some bad thing . Koreans consume allot of alcohol . They can drink in their parks , in their work lunch hour , alcohol can be in their vehicles , be it opened or not but they obviously cannot drive drunk . It’s very weird.. everything is celebrated with alcohol , u don’t fit in if u don’t consume at least their local rice wine ..Korea is known for their locally produced alcohol, soju . In Korea there is no such thing as alcoholics unless their alcohol interferes with them being productive . It is encouraged to go for drinks with ur work ppl weekly , celebrate small to big things with alcohol . They don’t have that negativity surrounding alcohol . That is their only legal “drug” . Weed is illegal and every korean citizen can be arrested in Korea if found to have done illicit drugs in a different country . Gambling is illegal aswell . So they don’t have casinos for their citizens and all types of drugs is illegal , they don’t promote medication of anxiety or depression either .. only alcohol and ciggies is what they allowed to consume . Being caught smoking weed or any illicit drugs is not just a crime but it ruins peoples careers immediately . If bts is caught smoking or consuming weed edibles while they are in america , they will be arrested in Korea the moment they return . Society completely alienates the person .. it’s still illegal to show body tattoos on screen in their country . A tattoo artist must be a registered doctor lol . Jungkook having tattoos is slowly changing the national views of tattoos .. music is about sharing your life thru lyrics , it use to be at least . It’s not promoting a particularly lifestyle , it’s just expressing lifestyles and turns out people are influenced .

These people already had tickets but they got to see his pre show and got numbers (when to go in) for the floor show. The line for entry two hours before was massive (Arena - four main doors ) It was insane how it wrapped around in the parking lot. Also, side note I was told in the first hour of opening they sold out of guitar picks, yes guitar picks ( I believe it was several hundred). it was crazy. He had a trailer that opened earlier in the day sold out within hours then inside merchandise before and after concert. Lots of stuff did not make it till after. Hi, I am back. Good reaction, ty. Another good chapter. Lots of feels. I cried. sigh. Poor Jimin. 2018 was when they planned to break up but changed their minds. I love watching this series with u. Also, i think part of Jimin's struggle was that he was not trained vocally from the start. He learned from JK and the others. Him being a perfectionist didn't help any. But he has a better mindset these days all thanks to the members. He has my fav voice. An angel! Jimin was almost kicked out 8 times. He went from being the top student in HS to a trainee and everyone was better than him he thought. He really grew emotionally and mentally over the years. I think he is an amazing young man just like they all are. Some of the members are still the same even while in military. Some are different. I can't say more for sure because 4 of the members are still doing training so they can't speak to us. But Jin is still his joker self. He posts when he can and he always makes fun of the others. He is the oldest member too. lol. Love his good humor. Jhope shares photos and writes sweet letters to us. So it looks like he is still the same. But Jimin on the last live mentioned that when he visited JHope in the army the reaction he got was oh why u here? that really took Jimin a back. It was kinda sad. JHope always had so much energy and is really close to Jimin. They were roommates for many yrs. So for JHope to welcome Jimin like that was not really like him. it was the new him as a corporal in the army. I really felt for Jimin. He tried to act like that did not hurt but it did. On Instagram i see a lot of military photos of Jk and there is no light in his eyes. It's really sad. I hope he will smile again when he is back with us. Crush a solo singer in Kpop talked about his army days and how he felt being back. JKs solemness' reminds me of his words. Hugs. -NY USA 2019 Army💟
    @BrillantTina said on 7/1/23
10:38 I think not feeling good enough was a mindset that Jimin struggled with for a few years. But especially during these years of 2016-2018. He's a perfectionist and has/had a strong inner critic...plus they were getting so much more attention. But I think they all had this in their own ways, even Yoongi said he cried the night of receiving their 1st BBMA because he knew it meant they were going to have to be even that much better and it was a lot of pressure. They all look sooooo confident on stage, and they really amp each other up, but I think that can be the duality of a performer...still having that scared inner self that doesn't always see what everyone else does and not wanting to let the team down.
17:12 Right now, during this solo era they are doing exactly what you're talking about, up-leveling, growing...but in all of these solo activities they always refer back to the team and how it's all so that when they come back together there will be new/even better synergy. During Agust D's shows fans were doing the BTS fan chant and he even told them to do it louder and every tour stop he talked about how he will come back with all the members next time. I think 2018 was the hardest year for BTS. They had just come off of their BBMA performance and were going into recording for LY: Tear and were feeling overwhelmed and burned out. They actually did talk about disbanding the first part of the year and took about a month off...then went away as a group for a weekend w/o camera's, etc and found their way again, but even for the Fake Love promotions Jin talked about how they only had 1.5 days off in a month and that it was really hard. Unlike other bands that are squeezed dry by their companies, I think BTS were treated more fairly, and as Jin said, they knew why and in some ways agreed to the schedule, but that doesn't mean it's easy. So anyway...they have talked/joked/dreamed about creating their own Bangtan Village where they can live together forever and if you look at the lyrics of Yet to Come and Take Two they have no intention of stopping and talk about how they feel "the best is yet to come".
38:05 Not stadium, but first big arena show. They may have one day dreamed of a stadium (but I'm not sure they even had that has a goal) but a BIG goal for them at the time was to have a show at the KSPO (Olympic Gymnastic Arena). The capacity is around 15K.

I know what you mean about the house pricing and all of that but in SK is way worse that their birth rate is the least in the world right now , like there is empty grades or just few kids on first grade. The thing is that the generation above BTS ones , where living in the called “economic miracle” in SK where everyone has a job and can get a house cuz that was thanks to the previous generation that went to war. I recommend you to look at bapsade ( the song ) explain by a Korean , cuz there they will give you a context.
