The main point that those news crews were missing is that the group taking a hiatus to work on their solo works was that Jin's enlistment was imminent... and it was all pre-planned that the group would put out solo content for Army whilst they all went in to serve. I get that other groups (Western) have said it and not followed through... but they're not BTS... and these news people know nothing about them. Nor are they interested enough to learn about them.

One cannot imagine BTS bad mouthing each other because they love each other, support each other, are proud of each other. They travel to support other’s concerts. Suga created a show that supports and showcases the work of his team members. It is a family created from all their efforts and they know and appreciate what each brings.

Honestly, aside from the military component, they really needed this break. They've had time to explore who they are as artists as well as who they are as people. They weren't able to do that figuring out in their early 20s like the rest of us. They were also flat out exhausted emotionally, physically, and artistically. As much as I don't love the reason for the break, I really appreciate that they got it and what it has done for them. You can see the difference in each of them. They seem far more settled in themselves and who they want to be as adults. It's been kind of beautiful to watch.

I’m not from South Korea and not expert in the military stuff but I know that Jin, Jimin and Jungkook are enlisted in the 5th division which is in frontline and one of the most dangerous unit in South Korea and their unit experienced a lot of wars plus it’s in the coldest place in South Korea. The members have said that they don’t want any special treatment they want to be treated like the other soldiers. I hope nothing bad happens to them also the other 4 members are working hard but like I said Jimin, Jungkook and Jin they are in the frontline.

@@Kookiepookie2025 Yes as RM mentioned he has songs to finish as the military was coming for him that was about 3 or 4 weeks before he enlisted. So he was clearly working right up to enlistment.
I remember how frustrated bts themselves not only armys were like they woke up and found all media outlets announcements of them breaking up and that's why jungkook came live to say that they are not disbanding and stayed to sing for us our song requests to comfort us 😂

I remember seeing the new channels saying that bts was disbanding, non-armys saying that bts would pull a one direction on us, and seeing that the news in Korea was making it seem like bts was breaking up. It honestly pissed me off because bts made it clear that they weren’t disbanding, they said they would focus on solo work as the members enlist. Even jungkook went live on weverse and said that he was seeing the news in Korea say that they were disbanding when that simply isn’t true, it broke my heart. Imagine waking up to news all over the world saying that your group was disbanding, the members must’ve been upset that their words were twisted. I don’t understand why people even thought bts would pull a one direction because the fans know that bts actually like each other & think of each other as family, they have great teamwork and share similar interests, they have a strong bond that makes them able to continue making music as a group even when times are hard, knowing this I would never even think bts is similar to one direction. Bts is different and it’s the bond/teamwork that allows them to have longevity & keep them together

Bts is like a family! They care to each other.
The isulting part is that the Western media not only spread blatant misinformation, it's that they knew why BTS were taking a break and chose not to report it. They always framed it as "BTS is going on a hiatus to focus on solo careers" which would naturally make anyone think of One Direction. They somehow left out the part that the members would have to do their conscription or face prison time as well as public shaming that would destroy their careers and reputations. It wasn't a free choice to put a pause on group work.
The Western media then ignored ARMY who tried to set them straight and treated us like silly naive kids who were too delusional to see the truth that BTS was lying to us. That we'd see that the media was right in the end when we wind up betrayed like other fandoms from Western acts. We are a bunch of adults. It was dismissive and rude to insult millions of people all across the globe who were simply stating the facts on matters that the Western media were too lazy or incompetent to find out on their own.

Looking back I wonder if the media coverage surrounding BTS "hiatus" announcement would've been different had the directly said it was due to their upcoming military service and not only to pursue solo projects. During Festa 2022 when their hiatus was announced they made no mention of their military service so I think a lot of western media wasn't even aware about mandatory military service in South Korea. And the funny thing is even after that hiatus announcement they were still doing things together as a group. They did Run BTS episodes, did the Busan concert in October 2022, and released 2 new songs with all 7 members. Anyways BTS first tour after their military service is going to be huge, so if anyone is planning on going save your money now.
Saving my pennies now. Hopefully I’ll be lucky enough to get tickets to the first shows.

just think about it - before this "Hiatus"/chapter 2 announced they are already debuted 8-9 years, yet these 7 talented boys had so little solo projects. They didn't had any SOLO ALBUM but only mixtape by the rap line, a handful of solo songs as part of BTS group albums. They always proved that they are a group of 7 by actions & by words.
I mean not only US news fake things, they simple do not understand & do not want to understand another culture. What's worse is even the korean news/social medias went crazy saying the same things & why? Rumors will get the views/hits, so they create them. also we know how many haters & big companies want to bring bring the boys down... ARMY just need to stick together & trust the boys as always

I recall when they announced hiatus, I was actually physically shaken - not because I thought they were breaking up, but I think because of their obvious distress and fear that they had hurt us, that we would leave them, as well as the fact that we would not see them together, being themselves in the way that we had become used to. I was surprised at the impact it had on me - I was fragile and wobbly for a week! Still, I knew it was not over. I believed what they said, and I welcomed them meeting their needs and putting themselves first. I also knew that new experiences would bring them back to us renewed and even stronger - and never doubted tah.
I was not unsurprised but was dismayed by western news industry and responses to the "hahahahiatus" (which I call it, because it has been anything BUT a hiatus!). They were so transparently delighted. It made me feel almost physically sick, to be honest. The fear the west has for BTS is almost overwhelming - but I think it is also xenophobic, and that is what sickened me the most.
However, the joke is on them, with BTS solo activities having dominated Billboard from the moment they were released. Hahaha, indeed. and of course, since the last have joined the military, BTS debut and early songs have been #1s on Spotify and other charts all over the world. ... and ARMY don't forget that we can do this for a new song every DAY until they start to come back - without even touching Soundcloud! Hahaha again.
When it came to the announcements of MMS, I was unsurprised. I was (and remain) furious at the manipulations of the military and government authorities suggesting they 'did not know' if BTS had done enough for Korea - BTS had done more for Korea that those athletes, sports stars or classical artists (who are traditionally exempt) ever did - combined. Their position was reprehensible - and they were liars. However, MMS in Korea is in some real peril, with birth rates plummeting and genuine fears for the future of the military! The fact most likely is that, even though BTS are the only group holding the Hwagwan Order of Merit which would probably be the qualifying condition, they feel they can't dare open the door to exemptions for 'popular' artists because it weakens the MMS position. But still.
I was proud, though, that when that farce of a 'debate' was almost at some kind of height, BTS removed the decision from their hands and announced that they were all going to serve within the next couple of years. The Korean music industry had something of a meltdown, with a national organisational leader predicting doom and asking them to reconsider.
Many ARMYs are now feeling scared, vulnerable, and a little alone, but I have enormous confidence. BTS will come back stronger than ever, refreshed and with energy and many new experiences. Hopefully with girlfriends and hopes for a family life soon. They will bring all of those new colours to ARMY on their return. To paraphrase RM - they are human beings - let them be humans first, then they can come and make more art...

the "hahahahiatus" had me dying XD I remember when they announced it there were a lot of armys saying that with the free time they could catch up with run bts episodes or finally learning korean..yeah look at how that turned out, we never had a free moment since XD

@@Mybabyjk It is same percentage of shares, bang pd gave every member of bts the same percentage of shares as a gift. This got nothing to do with their solos.. They each hold over 10 billion won of hybe stock and as of 2023 they were given the authority to make decisions alongside bang pd.. RM even made ppt presentations to hybe executives.

I don’t believe the way BTS works together is a common thing in k pop. Their are groups that don’t make it do to conflicts within the groups or with their company and jealousy. Bts we’re taught by their ceo bang pd to respect others and respect each other. And to hash out conflicts as a group and not individually. Then living together allowed then to really get to know each other. So they are different from most groups anywhere in the world. Many ceo and groups are now trying to adopt BTS and Big Hits way because its the best way

I was a baby ARMY (literally 1 month into the rabbit hole) when they announced the break from group activities and even though I was not a 1D fan in any sense of the word, it made me sad - because "that's what 1D said" and the fact that RM was emotional when he mentioned it, and the rest of them also becoming emotional made it worse - Not their fault for me not understanding. I now understand why they were like that, but my baby ARMY brain worked on western radio waves.
I have since learned that it is safe to trust them, because they mean what they say and they will do just about anything to keep their promises.

Do you know about those western media who make news that TS hiastus as breaking up like 1D is those who are "worried" by BTS conquering the western world music -which they already has hahahahah. Some people are paid by the music industry to create this ruckus about BTS disbanding. Not to mention they disguise themselves as ARMY but solo stanners, shippers and karen managers.. these people spread toxicity inside ARMY and tries tp divide us from the inside. Its been years already, but recently, the real ARMY start to calling put these toxic people out of ARMY base and filtering them out. Taking dpwn their spcial media who spammed solo stanners and hating other members. These discussion is pretty heated up.

some of the things mentioned in this video are not a korean vs the west issue at all. korean media is just as, if not MORE, controlled by big SK conglomerates & corporate greed as western (specifically US) media partly because of how small the country is & how wealth is distributed even worse than here in the US. k-pop groups aren’t gonna be as publicly messy towards their label or between the members as western artists but it’s simply a cultural thing. When you look deeper, it’s not really something to praise. the desire to not cause or bring trouble to others prevents problems from being highlighted in kpop and broader society in my opinion. yoongi got backlash for just pointing out how exploitative music shows are to idols and namjoon got backlash for simply pointing out how the k-pop industry’s expectations can create burnout & stifle creativity. as armys say all the time, bts are an anomaly in BOTH Tthe west and the rest of the world. we aren’t kidding! our individualistic society and their collectivist society both have their perks and drawbacks.

Like your review. However, there is no war. Also they do not get preferential treatment. Jin even mentioned this in one of his posts. Jin and now JK and Jimin are enlisted in the 5th Division. It is located in the frontline and will be the first to be attacked, The 5th Division is known for tough training and military service as well as freezing weather in winter.Jin and Jhope are also "Special Class Warrior" which is an honor bestowed to a soldier. Soldiers are selected based on their excellent combat competency, outstanding marksmanship, physical fitness, and mental resilience. They always work hard in whatever they do.

CORRECTION they never actually said that word it was a journalist who wanted to sensationalise their words. Some army also use it. I watched the whole festa dinner party and i didn't hear that word either. Suga also said that they did NOT say it and he called out those for saying it.

I think that this has forged a very strong bond between them. Also they never reveal each others confidences, I am 100% sure they know a lot of secrets about each other.
I would like to take issue with you guys stating USA Govt/Media being "best" liars - I would question that they are the best at it, personally, I think UK Govt/Media are giving USA a run to the winning post. Of course that just means the public are the losers, UK and USA.

You guys were so brutally honest talking about the West being more individualistic and somewhat lacking morals in comparison to the East (Korea in this case). But to bring some balance to this discussion, I'd like to think that once upon a time, the West had closer communities than it does today, and had more morals than it does today, but something probably happened in history that made the West become more individualistic and lose some of those morals. Maybe it's time to swing back to having closer more family-like communities, and to bring values like honesty and trustworthiness back to the West. As for the East (talking about Asia here), we are more family and group-oriented, and traditional values still matter for the most part, but it's not like we are complete angels either. I think every society, East or West, has it's own bad apples. As long as we are all human, I don't think our societies can ever be perfect. But we can learn from each other to continuously strive to make things better as a whole.
Agreed. No place is perfect. I live in USA and it’s just falling so fast I’m actually disgusted. 1990-2010 was the best years in the USA after 2010 is when everything started going wrong. Thats why I want to leave so bad. Dating American women is the most stressful thing and very risky for us American men. Marriage in America is suicide for a guy here. I would never settle for an American women after all the horror stories and failed marriages I’ve seen. That’s why I look to Asia 😊

I'm thinking is that a reference to the fact that North and South Korea only have a cease fire agreement and very recently North Korea fired a missile off towards Japan oh and they also 'accidently' dropped a dude missile on a South Korean beach.
China has told North Korea to stop messing about because they don't want a war in their back yard.
Oh yes and another thing North Korea has given missiles to Russia has boasted that Russia will help them. Yeah right if you believe that you'll believe anything. Russia have a habit of saying one thing and doing another they just wanted some of your missiles North Korea.

Their military service isn't a tradition, its legally mandatory. Their only options are go to the military or go to jail. Its sad that they have to waste nearly two years of their lives for this.

BTS isn't breaking up but they could leave HYBE on day. The company could change. They could end up like their heroes leaving the company they built.
The standard contract is 7 years but they have not actually said how long they are resigning for this time.
I think they would only resign for 7 as long as they have even more scope for solo projects. 💜

@@DANDJREACT it's not really when you have a long term plan and they have a habit of planning things 2 years ahead. They even do something not that usual within the kpop industry they start consulting each other and their individual lawyers 2 years ahead of their next contract date. Then they re sign early well before their old contract ends. Most in kpop leave it to almost the last minute and often wait until their present contract ends before they even start discussing a new contract.
BTS are not only artists, musicians, song writers, composers, producers, singers and rappers they are businessmen 4 of whom have Master's Degree's. Look at RM with his extremely high IQ these men know what they want and how to get it.

I was never a fan of 1D however I do believe they would have stayed together longer if they'd been able to have far more input into their music but Simon Cowell is a control freak always has been and he's also has a mindset that gets bored easily and he drops things/people. What does put me off 1D apart from the fact I was never a fan but really put the nail into their coffin for myself was the fact they lied and it was a plain lie well at least too us Brit's. We knew they signed with different labels. Hiatus means break from your normal activities so no they were never going to disbanded. I don't understand the American's simply assuming that BTS were lieing erm they are not 1Direction so stop tarring them with the same brush and do some research eg real journalism.

I was a fan of 1D for a time and although zayn carried them vocally, the treatment he got was disgusting. I'm glad he left for his own sake. He was very vocal about the racism and xenophobia. I didn't like the group anymore as I got older but I still love their older music after he left an I heard hiatus I had some major doubt just because of how Simon made it very obvious what he really thought of each member. It was clear Harry was gonna be on his own and catapulted into solo activities
