This whole scene has "Anakin Skywalker falling to the dark side" vibes.
When this whole thing starts, N is still Noah. Hes a tad older and of course joined Moebius, but not gone yet. Theres still something of Noah left within him. You can see it in how he still cares about Ghondor, how he fights Alpha and responds in defiance of her demands.
But the instant Ghondor dies, Noah dies too. That final bit of goodness, that heroic spark, is fading fast. Only lasting long enough to help Matthew stop Alpha.
And the worst part is that it wasnt even what Z made him do. Z seemed to just want Alpha gone, for understandable reasons. That's why Noah is reborn from Ns regrets instead of N just trying to kill Z. Because N has no one to blame for killing his own boy but himself.

A mix of both, it seems as the city population was unknowingly impowering Alpha, so they had to be at least reduced in number to make sure N could kill Alpha.
N killed any city members that got in his way but, for the most part, didn't seem to be targeting them, and if Ghondor had not thrown himself between Alpha and N it's possible he would have left it alone afterwards

He doesn't want to kill him or destroy the city,he only after alpha.i think he thought he can abandon everything to revive his wife, but he is still not cold enough to kill his own kin. My theory is after becoming mobeus,he tried to destroy the city, but glimpses upon his son, probably in his teen, and can't bring himself to continuing his plan to revive M. Then,he basically just stay still, unable to go back to his son because he became mobeus, but also unable to revive M because he can't kill his son. I hated alpha for using his families as meat shield against him. You can see that N is pissed when alpha tried to use Matthew to cover for him using nael,N be like "b*tch, not this again". He said the city refuge are alpha source of power and says he will kill them, but let Matthew off several times, not to mention that he only stall him

Nah he didn't go there to confront Alpha, N was explicitly ordered by Z to slaughter the Citizens, and he agreed to get Mio back. Alpha only began to act in response to N's attack, and that's when N switched targets.

He didn't only attack Na'el, he literally shows up to kill Matthew in Prison Island, that's why he has a boss fight.
He looked shocked when he stabbed Ghondor because A: he was caught off guard and B: because that's literally his son, and out of everyone that's the one that hits him hardest emotionally and breaks his facade.
He's mad in 3 because Noah is there. N hates himself for being too weak to save Mio and for abandoning his path, and he projects that onto Noah who is a living reminder of his past self. Noah is also a living reminder of everything that N tries to deny, like that he should've chosen to go on fighting and that he deeply regrets his choice.
N was already dead inside when he accepted Z's deal to kill the citizens, the light is already missing from his eyes. Ghondor's words forced him to acknowledge his regret, which did make it worse.
I don't disagree with everything you're saying in the original comment, actually I think most of it checks out, it's specifically him being after only Alpha that I disagreed with.

@@Liezuli but he didn't attacked Matthew and nael by endgame? Sure Matthew and n said both run out of power, but isn't Matthew and nael still city refugees? What I mean by why not killing Matthew is, why not kill him straight away? Why wait till he is on prison island, why not when he just still with A. And he seems like very different from the base game, he explains his reasons to Matthew a lot, even in prison island, he interpret ghondor choices as him siding with N cause to stop alpha, because ghondor is the one that destroys the city using uroboros, no N, that's why Matthew said "grandad would've never side with the likes of you" Then let Matthew punch his head, he even go so far to warn Matthew not to chase nael, if his intention was to kill Matthew, there'll be no warning, which is why again in the end, he said "mobius will never change", and Matthew ask " Does that includes you? ", N answer is " Naturally ", naturally isn't the word you usually using if you're so eager to carry on your plan, it's almost as if N already regret his choices but can't pull back, this " Naturally ".and lastly tho, iirc, N never attack another city in the past right? Only ghondor city, and only after alpha appears, why was that? Isn't the requirements is to destroy all city? He never has any malice towards anyone other than alpha and Noah afaik, because colony 9 are also full of city refugees but N never attack them at all

@@yogafajarwicaksono8009 He's still *Noah* of course he's not gonna be too eager to kill the last of his kin. That doesn't mean he isn't willing to do it when it comes down to it, though. He warned Matthew that he wouldn't let him reach Alpha, and intended to kill Matthew for trying to.
But by the end, Matthew words were getting through to him, which is why he stopped fighting back. He knew Matthew was right.
Ghondor's explosion is what did the final blow to the City, but even before he did that, N was already killing people and blowing things up using the Moebius scrabs. He would've ended up destroying it anyways.
There were no other Cities in the past. The City we see in 3 came after and had to be hidden. And the reason N didn't attack the Liberation base is because they had a ceasefire with Z.
N *DOES* regret his choices, but at the same time he tries to deny it and tries to justify his actions.

It's implied N had been undecided on destroying the City before he was aware of Alpha, he attacked the city because Alpha was that dangerous that he had no choice other than to act if he was to stop Aionios destruction which would render everything he sacrificed pointless. That it lined up with Z's deal meant that at least the lives wouldn't be just wasted. It was Z being an ass that he only revived her after he had killed everything and N's guilt meant he refused to justify his actions, leading M to believe he only massacred the city for her life when in reality he had to stop Alpha.
