  • In this video I go over the key factors why long distance running in Norway and Kenya has reached such a high level in especially the last decade. I go over some research about their training methods and some physiological studies. I call their training the new school of long distance running, why? Let’s dive in!
We saw another remarkable season from some of the Norwegian and Kenyan long distance runners. Looking at Norway there is of course Jakob Ingebrigtsen, who won gold at the 5000m at the world cup in Budapest and broke the 2 mile world record in the Paris diamond league. The other famous distance runners from Norway, Karoline Grovdal won the European cross country championships recently for the 4th time in a row after a successful trainingblock in Sierra Nevada. She is also the national record holder for the 5km in her Country.
For Kenya (or east african countries in general), there is of course for several decades already dominance in the sport. This season there were some magnificent performances from Faith Kipyegon, breaking multiple world record, Kelvin Kiptum who broke the marathon world record in Chicago and Eliud himself who won his 5th Berlin marathon.
