The paint job looked good considering it was rolled on. This concept is great for making a vehicle look presentable again on a very low budget. Your video would have been much better if you cut the garbage music and just spoke to us about the process, and tips on the best techniques.
Yes those music dont even go with these 😂
Concidering they used the worst techniques probably a good thing
What the hell are you talking about. That doesn’t look presentable at all. Looks like trash
@@paulinadeluca9117 I think they were trying to make the car look like an orange, hence the orange peel texture. LOL! Seriously, why bother painting a car if it's going to look like shit?
@@bobweiram6321 lmao that’s accurate. The got the color and texture spot on
Man I hope nobody spent any money at a studio making that terrible music . It's the worst I've ever heard by a long shot
I think the music ( especially the first track ) is just as hooptie as rolling bright orange paint on a Civic😂
But who could resist free hummus? :p
@@germanbini FREE HUMMUS LMAO
I couldn’t finish watching. I hate silent movies and had to mute this.
Ohh Man that's Too Funny😂
yall should show how to wallpaper a car
this is perfect cause I always wanted my car to look like a wall
😂😂😂
😂😂😂
This had me rolling 😂😂☠
Lol
😅😅😅😅😅😅
When I saw the title I was really skeptical! But when I waited and saw the finish at the end... My skepticism was correct.
Did you paint your car yet?
@@inzane3229 actually, yes.
@@rwtfallenjf25132 is there some way i can contact you? I really really want to do this us really skeptical myself...
@@inzane3229 my original comment was sarcasm. Do not paint your car with a roller. Use a pneumatic spray gun.
I mean yeah, but for what you pay for it........not half bad. haha
I'm wondering if the orange paint color was purposely chosen to compliment the expected 'orange peel'. If so, this was a genius move in presenting this quick paint job technique!
Not trying to win a car show just make it decent on a budget see same comment in every video like this but it works you must be a auto body guy with a nice wet sand and 2x clear and a little harder these paint jobs can be just a good you can get orange peel shooting it also
It looked rough .
@@brooklyn7392 If all you want to do is cover it with paint, the Civic was already there. What these guys did accomplished their goal but if the paint was thinned and sanded between coats, it would look amazing.
I think you will find tge FACTORY finish had tge OP. Ive just flatted a VW Jetta. It looks like glass now.
I did this on a 03 Crown Vic with peeling paint, I used a foam brush, did 3 coats (make sure you have a 4 day weekend, takes about 18 hours to dry properly) after that I wet sanded it with 800 grit then 1000 grit sand paper to cut down on the orange peel, then a spray on gloss coat followed by a buff and wax. Turned out very well
Add hardener dry faster you can use the same catalyst or hardener the pros use would have saved you a lot of time also a little acetone to thin it just a little not much though or you will get runs
how much paint was required?
Damn. That paint looked decent to begin lol.
You can get it better by wet Sanding and polish it after
Yep, this is what they did before spray painting booths and you can get a really good finish. But it will take ages.
You need to apply quite a few coats, sanding each one then finally polish it, lacquer then sand and polish again. That will give an amazing paint job with no orange peel or anything. It will also be much tougher than a normal spray job especially if you use an oil based paint.
Dude literally drags the tape and sheets through the wet paint xD
🤣🤦♂️
Fresh paint, ready to pick up all the honeys

LMFAO
Thanks, I learned how to sand paint. And paint flames on my doors with hummus.
Such an underrated comment 😂
That music was bad and overwhelming.
Wow the car came out nice , you can change the color every year .
They glued on orange peals as paint
Randizle Peregoy that paint jobs give a new meaning to orange peeling
Straight away beautiful job well done.
Kindly tell me what and what you added to the paint to make it glossy, or I should just go ahead and use my glossy paint ?
Should I add any wax content, am planning to paint my bought - car this week... then what is the roller size ?
THANK YOU !
Interesting. But why not fix that rust spot (7:05) on the driver's side rear quarter panel before painting?
I think its just to show how you can polish a turd and sometimes that's all you want
What about clearing it to protect the paint!? You guys def gave me an idea to try out!
Idk why this was recommended lol. But Next video idea. “Repairing a large dent with drywall”
Hahahaha
This how they did it in the old days before spray equipment. Rolled and sanded using oil based paints up to 7-8 times for the high end cars!
You get a much more solid paint job than the modern way, but it's many hours of labour. Once finished properly it will be very smooth with no orange peel etc.
No
@@jdamqueen he's right! That's why pain jobs were far more superior back then in durability
Why using oil paint rather than water?
@@Gangstawalk1The paints were activated with a catalyst and not left to air dry; single stage paints used a chemical reaction in order to harden almost immediately into a very durable shell-like enamel.
This car ain't worth spray paint so rolling it was a great bet
Thats why I'm here. Spray paint would be worth more than my car.
@@tommyslavic898 Same lmao. Paid £400 for my car that doesnt even have clearcoat. An orangepeely paint job's better than rust
Yeah this paint looks easy to remove.
this is what people dont understand... this isnt paintjob for anything above 1k worth of car its for piece of junk thats rusted out and has 5 different color panels on it.
I just want my truck one color. I'm just going to beat the hell out of it anyways. I'm using oil based tractor and implement enamel.
love the orange peel on this thang XD
Paint job is bad ass!!!!!! Is that oil based? Gloss?
That orange peel is on point lol
I did this. For what I spent I'm extremely happy with it
Yes it's possible to do a fairly good job on an old vehicle Andy Weesman.
But didn't happen in this case...
Don’t threat them. Keep it up guys. I have an old Honda CRV I’m looking to paint by myself. It’s not worth a $2,000 paint job. . I might just take a crack at it.
I think the car looks great, I noticed the Scotch bright pad was the one designed for automotive paint prep. That's just FYI for the negative comments. The pads can be purchased at most parts houses and they won't shed like the green kitchen grade will. I like your tire shop too, It's clean.
Mark Davis awesome!! thank u for the feedback!
Mark Davis the finish is horrible, will most likely chip off after time, the trim pieces are painted. This is a hack job, I've done better with spray cans
Great job man! Some curtains and a couple of pictures and it's ready for open house! Well open car! Walmart has a great deal on mini blinds. 😉
question: i have an all black 98 chevy. i been doing a lot of research on roll painting a car with rustoleum or duplicolor. I honestly don't want to sand down the truck, so is it possible not to sand my truck down because im wanting to give a glossy look
Hi can you please let me know what kind of paint you used ?
Thanks for showing the rolling process, this vid helped me a lot, about to paint a pickup truck
Poor soul
@@sovietbanane3538 he prolly doesnt care too much or doesnt want to invest too much money
so itll be alright
That silver looked fine...wtf
A little over 7 minutes I will never be able to get back :(
HELP:
Do you have a link to Trembled paint??
I cannot find it in Houston for my van conversion.
Awesome! Can't wait to paint my delorean!
judasplow25 cool
A Delorean has a stainless steel bodywork doesn't it?Wouldn't painting that over like this lose most of it's appeal and value?
At least if it turns out awful you can just gun it to 88 and travel back in time to undo it.
This video is currently being studied by all the top scientists. Your techniques swill help humanity for years to come.
I want do motorcycle how many Coats to go over royal blue and what kind paint should I use?
This is totally how it should be done, I could have saved myself weeks of prep if I had seen this first!
Same, I spray-painted my truck black after sanding each fender down individually. Took quite a bit of time, wish I saw this first, I would have tried it.
I think the car looks absolutely wonderful!!
Hi, I have a 1999 Nissan Lec PS and needs the whole body to paint with color maroon. Please help me what to do step by step, the materials. I don't want it to paint with rattle can but with roller brush only. Because we are renting a row townhouses, the neighbors might smell the evaporation of the rattle can and might get angry at us. Thank you for your help. Roland
I think with a hi-density foam gloss roller it would be ok, cotton always dries orange peeled.
Too bad you guys never heard of " roll & tip ". If you follow up behind the roller with a fine bristle paint brush it eliminates all those tiny air bubbles... it's an old yacht painting trick. Lots of YT videos here on the process.
NOBODY :
Phone rings...
Nathan: YELLOW
I like what U2 are doing I thought of doing this to my old car thanks for the idea
WHy just why that is all X what a mess
hint: take a wide (damp/dry) soft brush - and long stroke over the rolled wet layer. and /also : multiple coats. Most of the work is already done w the masking and sanding!
I like this process,a lot cleaner than using spray, however it can be better after a good sanding to get rid of the Orange peel, ive seen it done with Rustoleum paint and it turns out great.
i have used rollers for years to paint my older trucks always looks good .
Great video and very clean shop
Thank u
I think it’s a great idea looked pretty good man
Thank you very much for the information.
would this work on my 1948 harley davidson frame if i clean all the rush off it
You guys chose the perfect color for the job cause the orange peel on this car is insane
Brilliant job on a budget. There will always be those people who'll say that it's garbage. They are what they are. However, opinions vary, and considering the cost and the ability to do the work yourself then it's definitely job well done.
prep work is everything
What paint did you use ?
Can you please tell the Name of the Color or paint?
Is it a normal paint or just special for car?
Good job.. i learn something cool
No sanding after? No clear? No buffing?
What paint did you use?
I see more dislikes than likes what their to not like about the paint job they did an amazingly great job smh haters these days
I'm amazed a roller did that. Not to shabby.
It's cause the music
The music is why for sure
How long did u guys take to do this? 1 hour?
What kind or type of the roller ??
Lots of haters in here, fun project, but I agree that the stock, glossy white was probably way better and durable than that 'orange peel'. I suspect there will be nicks and peels and white reveals all over by the weekend. Monochromatic effect and white wheels was cool, but not road worthy. I'd have been okay with a completely paint wasted beater, that didn't look too bad, initially.
Rim lions hear them roar 😂😂😂
What the name of the pads you bought
hello sir what kind of paint is that?"
As I watched other videos on how to paint a car DIY. You need to sand paper it then put primer sand paper it then put base coat then sand paper it then last clear coat. Please correct me If I am wrong.
This is an oil-based paint that doesn't require a primer, also known as top coat.
What they did wrong was not putting another thin layer of coat, and before that, they had to wet sand the first thick coat. An oil-based paint doesn't require clear coat. The paint job could be to heavy for three coats of paint, and could start too crack within a few months. Even if they did all that right, this type of job doesn't last more than a year on the car as it starts to crack, and on the sun especially.
How wrong would be to wet-sand the paint with an equivalent grade sandpaper?
This video would've been amazing if they sanded to a near flat finish and then polished out the sanding marks. Would've been an incredible finish.
Prep + paint = A1 job
Can it be buffed out over time?
you can apply atleast 4 coats then sand it down to look like it has been spray painted then do the clear coat
Just spend the next 2 weeks color sanding it! And then reapply after 3 months as its gonna fade. I've seen really good results if you thin the paint like 90% and paint about 10 coats and color sand the thick paint. If you got a garage, it may last a few years.
Did a pretty good job honestly. I would have liked to see a better colour chosen. Y'all should have also tried harder in not painting over the trims and logo. Overall great video! How has the paint held up?
The hood washer nozzles could have been easily removed also.
is that a automotive laquer?
Where did you get the pain at?
Where to buy the paint
Good job, keep it up
no thinning? no filtering before rolling?
Dude you had me, I thought this was legit right up until the end..... You guys you got me. Protip, always read the comments before watching, you guys wasted 7min 22 seconds of my time, but the editing was decent enough.
they painted over the hood sprayers and antenna 😂😂 also got shit all over it hahaha
THEY SPRAYED ALL OVER THE RUSTS
You guys did an awesome and creative job! (no sarcasm)
I like the texture
What are the steps you used to do this wrote down.
i thought multiple coats - and top clear coat- and perhaps dry brushing - to smooth out..
Damn got that free hummus, make sure to get some ritz with it, their bogo!
What would you do for the orange peel? Looks like that's the final product
You buff it and polish it? Orange peel is easy to take off with 2k clear
This is why Japanese car enthusiasts have a reputation for doing crap work lol. You painted over the rust hole in the quarter lol. Damn guys at least do a cheap job right.
My Damn Channel thanks for watching
Right lol thinking of repainting my whole car because I wanna bondo fill some rust holes
very good thank you
can you link me the song about the green hummers? That shit is stuck in my head
Sounded like free hummus
Listen a little saint Nick instead.
To be fair, I've seen more expensive paint jobs come out worse. This might be how i do my new beater build.. i wonder if adding a filler primer, plus clear would help. 🤔 but I'll probably just do as you did lol.
I would've not mask that car , Use the scuff pad and use a hose, some ajax cleaning power and wet scuff it...It would've wash and sand down at the same time lol
Like to see this sanded with fine wet and dry ... bet it would look half decent x
great job saving money A1
The peel mobile!!!!!!
The right colour look at the orange peel 😂😂😂😉
This is one of the better roller paint jobs online
My new leg day song. 3 hummers?!!
Yes sir you r my role model thanks fine
I just roller painted my moms 2020 accord after watching this video
painted over the rust lmao xD
Thin the paint and roller in ONE direction, overlap by 50%, and use a VERY light tough (weight of the roller ONLY). Finally, go SLOW MAX 1" / second. Four coats, then finish with 800, then 1500 grit, buff with cutting paste. Cant tell it wasnt sprayed.
