Here is a slightly better way to get Pichu. He says the Pichu is most commonly found on Route 1 but he is wrong. Pichu is most common in Hi 'olu city (i forgot to how spell it) plus it spawns in a slightly higher level so that will be your best bet. Also not to be weird or anything, but for some reason i was looking for a pichu there for about 20 minutes and it failed. So when i found out they appeared at the first city, I thought that they would appear there more so I went there and it was day time. But none appeared. So I thought that maybe they would appear more at night and i was right! I found a Pichu at night on my 7th try and I lowered it health to around half and caught it.

yes, i got a magmar this way too. magby called other magby too but on one of the calls for help, a magmar appeared. same with pikachu and pichu.

Actually now that I check. Wanna evolve it at a lower level and have the time and patients to do so. In the town where the second kahuna is. Toward the town entrance there is a girl that gives your Pokemon massages. And another right next to her that tells you the actual happiness. Catch a Pokemon in a luxury ball and use a soothebell. Then take that Pokemon to get a massage once everyday. Then use the other girl to check he happiness. It may take a few days but if you have the time and don't mind the wait. You can have any of the evolve by happiness Pokemon at a lower level. Do remember this way takes a bit of time. Another option is to go to a low level area still have the Pokemon in a luxury ball and use the soothebell, still use the the massage t get a boost in happiness. But you should be able to evolve the Pokemon earlier than normal. A frendship ball also works but gives a starting boost. While luxury ball doubles the growth of happiness.
People are saying pichu is rare. I got mine first try but not there. There is a better place across from the Pokémon center near the start of the first trial

I've found Pichu's appear WAY more often when you have a Pikachu first in your team. This could be the same with putting a Pichu first, but I'm not sure.
I think they trust you more because they see that you have treated a pichu well in the past, lol.
That being said, I have tons of Pichu to trade ^_^
Pichu has a 5% rate to appear so it will take a while but in USUM it's even easier to get one as it appears right next to your house.

Note: The rate for Pichus to appear more often is if you have a pichu or pikachu in your party
The only reason you feel it's very frequently met is because you put a static ability pokemon at the front of the team.

You sure? Because I think affection may be loosely tied. Something I noticed is my first pichu took forever to evolve. On top of that its affection took forever to go up. I then caught a second pichu with a luxury ball and used a soothebell, i know those increase the rate at which happiness goes up. But it's affection has been going up extremely fast too. Affection may not be directly tied to it. But it does seem like it's loosely tied to it.
It's really frustrating, because Pichu's are hard enough to encounter, but then I have to wait until it calls for a Pikachu, and so far the 3 pikachu's I have caught ALL have hindering natures. Look, it does't have to be perfect, but I'm really getting sick and tired of catching Pikachus that all have hindering speed natures, like what's even the point of it being a pikachu if it's not going to be fast?

i got rid of my soothe bell and i regret it... I also maxed out Pichu in affection.... My Pichu fainted once by accident althought it was first in my party and it did win a lot a battles but it still fainted at one point... I feel like I'll never get a pichu...
For all the people who can't seem to find Pichu, all you gotta do is go to your Pokedex and find Pichu in the Melemele Pokedex section, then press A to find its habitat and you should find it first encounter...

I think it may be easier to find a t night. I also had trouble finding one at the beginning am playing Sun and daytime is night for me. They are in that location though.

Ehrm... You can actually just weaken Pichu and wait until it calls for help. It takes some time, but I guess it's easier than making Pichu happy. You can just grindkill the called Pichus until Pichu calls a Pikachu.

Mary Ann viloria it has to have max friendship not affection. Just do the switch out technique. Basically put your pichu in front and before you do anything switch him out for another Pokémon. Don't let him battle just let him be involved.
