The man said “We’re in a Radiohead music video, and if all of you lied down, it would be super cinematic.”

I think the guy is saying, “it’s past my bedtime.” And then all the other realized it was past theirs, too.

I once asked Thom Yorke what it is exactly that the man is saying at the end. He said: "If I told you, we'd all be lying on the floor right now".
It's curious 😂
I wonder how many times he's been asked that question!

I don’t understand how this might be like top 10 Radiohead songs for me. Jonnys guitar work, the guitar matching Thoms melody leading up to the hook, the damn vocals as a whole, that amazing guitar solo at the end,I just think it’s all perfect and stands toe to toe with some of their best work

Discovering Radiohead was one of the best things that happened to me this year ♡
I"m kinda jealous you get to listen to all their stuff for the first time. My favorite band.
Same here, I’m really kicking myself for not getting into them earlier, especially when I was in high school. The pure raw emotion in a lot of their music is just perfect to listen to when you need to vent but don’t know how.
Same! I'm listening to their songs like I'm drinking a good single malt whisky: slowly and in small portions, wishing I'd never finish the bottle. I spent 1 year listening only to Ok Computer. And last week I decided to give a try to The Bends, which also has amazed me.

Notice that Jonny Greenwood is the only one that doesn't go to the window to see what the guy said, cause Jonny is a genius and already knows all the secrets of the universe.
Or maybe he was just busy busting out that legendary solo in the end. ;)

Or maybe he was taken off a hair from his mout

*everyone is so focused on what the man is saying that they don’t realise they’ve fallen into Radiohead’s trap. You guys did it to yourself*
Shahid Ullah Just this, just that. He can’t conjure up enough truth, so therefore it’s necessary to experience it yourself.
The fact that the song is called "Just" should be a clue, but they still get suckered (along with their friends).
just us, us and no one else
I don’t get it, can you explain it to me again please?
Lilian ok so basically, what the man had to say is completely pointless. but literally everyone who’s seen this video is dying to know. and everyone is so caught up in finding out what the mans saying that they don’t realise the actual meaning behind the song, which is that they (radiohead) can give u a simple thing, like throwing a bone to a dog, and the masses and the people and every other single sheep on planet earth will focus on that so much (focus on the bone rather then why the dog owner through the bone in the first place) and not focus on the actual meaning and concept, causing them to be so hung up over it. it is in the lyrics too “you do it to yourself” further meaning you got yourself into that situation; a situation that doesn’t incoherently matter in the grand scheme of things.
He said, “I’m lying here because it’s written in the script for this music video, and soon you’ll all be lying here too, because that’s written in the script as well.”
I’m lying here because the state of ‘my’ world is a result of everything I’ve done so far. I don’t want to cause anymore harm and will get up only when .....

@@evo2542 THANK YOU. 🤜🏻🤛🏻
in an interview, the director of this video, Jamie Thraves - was asked about what the man was saying at the end....
"I haven’t told anyone in 25 years. I had no idea the video was going to cause so many people to ask what the man said, I really didn’t. At the time, I simply felt I had no choice but to subtract what was said, it created the magic. To reveal the answer would kill the video. There’s a very real logical and simple answer though, a concept, however - no matter how good the idea is, it will always disappoint someone if revealed. I’ve told a few close people things over the years.
Sometimes I’m very tempted to go online under a pseudonym on CZcams and plant the exact truth amongst all the conjecture. Perhaps I’ve done that already. Look, I’m getting on a bit now. I’m considering telling my two sons, Thomas and Harvey, 15 and 12, to pass on the secret, to keep the family secret alive, but to be honest, it’s quite a burden. To be constantly asked and have to say “No, sorry, can’t tell you.” So I’m not sure I really want to pass that onto my kids.
I will probably take the answer to my grave, unless a rich billionaire Radiohead fan wants to buy the secret from me. I might actually seriously consider that, but it would cost them a fucking hell of a lot of money, and they’d still need to sign a contract to keep the secret. I do actually want to reveal the answer, you see, that’s why it’s been a strange burden and yet also wonderful to be the only person who knows. It’s like I stumbled upon the answer to the universe, perhaps I did. Please don’t make me tell you. You don’t want to know."

My teacher rebuttaled with in my opinion, good points such as, there are more things to this world than school and working in system like exploring the world and experiencing miracles of a life being born.
But nothing connected to my friend and he digged deeper into his nihilistic feelings until all that was left and came of it was an awkward and somber atmosphere.
Listening and watching this video kinda reminded me of the situation and has me thinking there are some things that for some people cannot be reasoned or helped with and good altruistic samaritans with intentions of helping like in the video will just carry the same burden with the knowledge the man passes on.

A couple of years ago I went through a depression that almost killed me, I had a friend who would visit me and he always did the things that I liked and accompanied me to feel better, I remember that we were in the living room of my house sitting on the floor making some drawings and I put RADIOHEAD on, in each song I explained the video or translated the lyrics.
I put "Just" and I said: that's just how I feel, like that guy.
Months before, he traveled to another city to visit me because I had moved, and the last day I was in that city we heard "Lift" and that song is so comforting and special to me, because that day was the last one I spent in that city that I felt like I was entering the gates of hell.

Pretty awesome representation of depression. There's no reason you can't get up or brush your teeth or look up at the clock you just can't. You just want everyone to let you get to it on your own and the idea of being touched or interfered with is uncomfortable and panicking. Plus the bit at the end where others hear the thoughts depression gives you and they're told how futile anything else is and they all just give in is well is fucking genius. The idea that you can't know why depression effects them until you're hit by it like seriously this is incredible.
+crissy4445 I respect your interpretation of it. It is an ambiguous, somewhat surreal video, so it is open to multiple interpretations. The way I see it, he his aware of a very disturbing truth about existence: the nature of which would automatically destroy a person's psyche if they learned what it was. The whole point of the video is about our insatiable curiosity. The characters in the video, and even us, watching the video, want to know badly why he is lying down, even though we know that it might have grave consequences for us to know. There's some things in this universe we are just not meant to know. What I think is brilliant about this video, is how we become like the guy yelling at the man to tell him whats wrong. People have been frustrated by this videos for 20 years because the secret is not revealed to them. btw: the reason I am not convinced by your take on it is: depression is very personal. When a depressed person reveals what's bothering them, it very rarely bothers the person hearing it. Also, you say that "they're told how futile everything else is and they just give in".....but the guy asks the man if he's lying there because there's no point in living, and the man says that's not it. So, it;s not because of the futility of it all. It's supposed to suggest something more metaphysical than that. Something beyond our understanding.
crissy4445 Yeah, I guess you could see it that way. It's just that I think the themes have more to do with our need to know everything about existence and the universe, where as your interpretation is more about depression. But, i can see how both our interpretations converge.
+crissy4445 Depression has a hidden negative affect on those not directly suffering from it. drags everyone down, how could he possibly stop that from happening.. I agree though, plenty of interpretations. Thanks for the comments and conversation. Awesome artists

Если тут есть кто из Русскоговорящих и наслаждается исключительно музыкой и клипом, то я готов вас порадовать тем фактом, что и посыл у песни очень даже интересный.
Главная фраза припева - "You do it to yourself" - переводится как "Ты делаешь это сам с собой".

The worst part is that yes, I do it to myself. And that's what really hurts. No it's not satire, it is true. I love Radiohead since I'm 8, now I'm in high school and, when I look back, I see myself, ever since elementary school pressuring and pushing myself to the limit for good grades and recognition, to feel good for them, even if fleetingly. I cried helplessly when I got less than an 8. Yes, I did it to myself. I still do it, and it really hurts.
CZcams randomly recommended me this song while Im alone and wanted to be sad alone by myself. Well, I did it to myself.

He said "The fitness gram pacer test is a multi stage aerobic test which progressively gets harder . . .
Lmao
God damn it
I think he said: “My life insurance will cover this if I die” and everybody realized that their life insurance would cover the situation if they die.
I'm pretty sure he said "I'm on a Mr. Beast video, the last person laid on wins a lambo"
What a fucking song. It gave me goosebumps the first time I heard it. It's so true, we do it to ourselves. Alot of shit we get ourselves in is ultimately the result of our own actions/how we dealt with situations. This song hit me like a tonne of bricks. It's so true it hurts.
You sound just like the guy on the ground. That's what he tells them: "You do it to yourself." That's the cruel, hilarious joke of the "mystery", he tells them the chorus you've just heard a dozen times. We have been the punchline, struggling to solve that "riddle", lol. We did it to ourselves.
The most singable song of there's lol
That's what really hurttttsss
"If oil floats on water if I cover myself in oil will I fly if it rains?"
heaven stairway incident
step 1:
You could try... But don't jump out of any window.
cover yourself in oil
all my guitarists know this one is fun as hell
as someone who was dealing with self harm the ''you do it to yourself'' part hits different
Just stop LMAO
@@repirouto its not that easy
Thom Yorke's energy in this is a combination of Mick Jagger and Ian Curtis and I'm all for it
Blinding track.
You do..just do it to yourself...
I.know😉
@@thedivinecomedyofleah6117 POV: you're so removed from society that you get your sense of belonging from being a fan of a band seeing it as a community and feeling superiority. "It's an insult to compare them to anyone else; they're one of a kind" do you know much of an elitist dick you sound like when you say that?
@@jove3403 Way off there. I have bashed the last two radiohead albums in length, stopped seeing them after In Rainbows and gave up on them as a band in general. Completely written out of my catalogue like they never existed. It's my recent revisit of them that makes me know why I once loved them so much and learn to appreciate how incredible they are and how amazing the last two albums really were, because I just wasn't ready for them and truly appreciate who they are as individual musicians and as a whole. I don't know what your problem is but I was simply stating my opinion. I respect your opinion but I don't agree. I doubt Thom Yorke would not like your unpleasant demeanor towards me and anyone's general opinion of him and his bands work. Guess you would need to be a musician to understand why it's not always a compliment to be compared to another musician no matter how great they are.
