MANY Huge AAA Games Coming To Nintendo Switch 2 Now? (Shiver Entertainment Acquired)

- Nintendo has acquired Shiver Entertainment. They are now a wholly owned Nintendo Studio, and this may suggest some great things for AAA games coming to Nintendo Switch 2. Its goes far beyond this though, it appears many third party companies are lining up for the Switch successor console!

I"m down for a remaster of my favorite game.
It already is, but I assume you mean in remasters. Meh, we’ll see. They might do a better performing version of one or both BotW and TotK, but I doubt it’s a multi-time kind of thing to happen. They undoubtably will be working on the actual next big Zelda game too.

@@martinaee Yeah it was more of a joke since it technicly would be a third gen version of the game. Not that I mind, loved it on Switch and would love to play an upgraded version. A new game is probably some years away so would be nice to have something to play while we wait for that!
Regarding Shiver:
Despite what other headlines have claimed, (and to Andres' credit, he didn't repeat), Shiver did NOT port MK1 or Hogwarts to Nintendo Switch. They worked on those games, even on the ports to other systems, but there's no evidence they were essential to the Switch versions of those games. Even in the wording of the press release, Nintendo tiptoes around making such a claim.
From what I could dig up, its my opinion, that Nintendo bought this company for two reason:
1) They're a support studio and those are becoming more and more valuable these ... and they apparently got this one super cheap.
2) The management of this studio have name recognition and are likely friends with Doug Bowser. John Schappert was co-founder of Tiburon (EA's Madden team since '95) and became EA's COO for a few years while Bowser was with the company. He was also VP of Xbox Live during the 360 era and later COO of Zynga. The other founder doesn't have such an impressive resume, but isn't too terrible. He was an engineer at Visual Concept (2K Sports), and later started a studio of his own. Between the two, I think I want to see them make a Mario Football game.
Nintendo's purchase of Shiver really sounds interesting. I think there are some real possibilities here.
Botw will get a 10th anniversary edition like skyward sword twilight princess and wind waker this isn't that big of a deal, why are people acting like us getting botw2 in 2027 is some sort of amazing thing.
Crinsom Desert and Dokev on Switch 2 would be awesome! Not to mention all 3rd Party would be cool!
With the announcement of Kingdom Hearts release on Steam, it gives me hope that the main series could eventually come to the switch or switch 2

Owning PC and switch 2 will be the way to go. PC gets all the tripple A titles and Nintendo obviously all first party titles there plus many things from Xbox and third party for on the go. Perfect! Loving the way the industry is going atm

I'm glad that most likely we will see a lot of third party AAA titles but I expect there will be sacrifices. I would prefer better framerates an lower resolution for most games myself.
At this point Metroid Prime 4 is gonna be a launch title for switch 2
It seems everybody has forgotten about one major detail from last years 2023 Xbox games conference; which is when Phil spencer announced that he would be partnering up with Nintendo to bring activision and blizzard games to the switch; and more specifically, he mentioned call of duty. (Over watch is already a title, as well as a couple activision/blizzard games). Idk, i think this plays a huge role into Nintendo’s decision to buy this porting company. We all know how the old call of duty titles performed on Nintendo hardware… (not really good). This goes without saying that the switch 2 will be very powerful, I want to say competitive with the XSX and PS5, so porting/transferring games traditionally made for those consoles should bring in a lot of new customers, with an up to par quality of course given this action by Nintendo- and the deal Phil spencer made which acquired activision and blizzard in the first place (to make them more accessible, to make more money) will definitely play out in front of us on the activision/blizzard side of things for sure.
First off, I think all of the cloud games currently on switch will be moved directly over to switch 2 and run natively. Some of the top games I want to see within the launch window are hellblade 2 and elden ring

A developer that was former owned by Embracer that worked on MK1 and Hogwarts Legacy, Nintendo bought them out most in preparation for Switch 2 and to expand third party support on Switch and possibly Switch 2
This is one of the best acquisitions from Nintendo. 3rd party games will be on parity to be on Switch 2. I'm most looking forward to MH Wilds, KH4, Persona 6, and FF17. Though the latter 2 may not have Shiver's involvement.

It's coming out 5 years after the PS5 launched and will be 1/3 the performance. That's why we need a home console from Nintendo. Just stick an ~ RTX 5060 in a $300 box. 20-30 Teraflops.
