  • In talking about the Rosary, Matt Fradd starts at the beginning-the beginning of his journey of learning what it is and how powerful it can be.
He started out thinking it was just a weird necklace old ladies held onto during Mass, but he grew to learn how some of the most influential saints in the world considered the Rosary to be among the most formidable weapons against evil.
Matt strongly recommends making an effort to pray the Rosary, starting small if you have to. He talks about the obstacles we need to overcome, and the excuses we make that prevent us from praying this holy prayer.
Ascension has a new book on the Rosary by Matt Fradd, A Pocket Guide to the Rosary (bit.ly/2qFmrhz). Follow the link to take a look.

Wow this is so godly timing. My fiancé passed away 6 months ago tomorrow and when we were together we would pray often, he brought me back to my relationship with Christ. After his death I would pray the rosary with his family everyday for 10 days ... lately my grief has been amplified and I turned to the rosary for solace.. it has been a huge comfort

Praying for you as well! I went through 4 years of bad medical problems including an incurable progressive disease that was completely cured on January 23rd of this year in church during hands on healing, the rosary helped me to actually take that leap of faith since I believed that jesus healed but I didn't think he did very often now except for some rare cases, but the last thing he said before ascending to heaven was that followers of his would lay hands on the sick in his name and they would be healed, the priest who brought the healing service to our parish has some amazing stories of full healing of the worst situations, and since my healing I've gone back several times and seen many myself as well! I strongly encourage you look up hands on healing or the Missionary's of the New Evangelization website and try it! And even if it doesn't work right away, keep trying! All we have to do is have faith and lay our hands on the sick, and Jesus does the rest! Either he'll heal you or give you the peace of mind that he will use all of what you're going through to create even more good for as long as he'll allow before resolving your problem through either medical means or healing. Just sit with your palms up on your lap and say "Jesus I surrender, come holy spirit" until you feel "drunk on the holy spirit." For the people laying their hands on you, listening to/singing worship music helps get in that state of mind. Praying for you!

Juat pray to JESUS. I used to be Catholic but it's all wrong. Praying repetitive words using Rosary beads is forbidden.
FACT: Catholics pray repetitive words with Rosary Beads that were first invented in 1090 AD, by "Peter the Hermit" and made popular by St. Dominic in 1208 AD. Catholics believe that Mary appeared to St. Dominic in 1208 AD, at the church of Prouille and revealed the Rosary Beads to him. From this time, Catholics prayed 15 sets of 10 consecutive "hail Marys" in a row (150 times), in the Rosary. However, in 2003 AD, Pope John Paul added a new set of Mysteries, so now it is 20 sets of 10 "Hail Marys", (200 times in the Rosary, in total.) Catholics will vainly appeal to Psalm 136 that alternates the same phrase 26 times with 26 different blessings God gives us. It is not 26 in a row as with the rosary! This is also a song, not a prayer. Revelation 4:8 has "angels singing" not "men praying".
Historical note: Roman Catholics borrowed the idea of praying with beads from the pagan religions who were already using them hundreds of years before: In 456 AD, Hindus are thought to have introduced the concept of praying with beads to the world. The earliest reference to a rosary (boberkhas) is in their "Jain Canon" (456 AD) These boberkhas had various numbers of beads 6,9,12,18,36 (any sub-multiple of 108) Islam (610 AD) uses a rosary of 99 beads, one for each of the names of God. Buddhists have 108 prayer beads on the string. The Rosary is of pagan origin and no Christian prior to 1000 AD used beads to pray.
Question #1: Did Jesus forbid repetitive prayer using Rosary Beads?
      Answer: Matthew 6:7 o YES NO o
"And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words. Matthew 6:7

Joe first the rosary is Christ centered. “Hail” means “hello” From Latin Ave. No prayer is vain or repetitive unless one offers it insincerely or for show. What then would we make for our Lord who prayed for hours the same prayer “not my will but thy will be done”? The gospels Matt 26, Mark 15, Luke 22. Further attest that not only did Christ pray the same prayer he repeatedly found his disciples asleep and told them to pray the same thing that they would not fall into temptation.
By contrast pagan prayer like for the Romans was about making long lists of chants that had to be perfectly recited otherwise risk offending the gods and at least have your petition denied and worse be struck down; ref King Tullus Hostilius.
Your objections of there being some sort of pagan cultural overlap isn’t substantiated by the fact the Orthodox monks were repeating the Jesus prayer on prayer ropes as early as the 2nd century AD.

Hospital gift shops carry rosaries! That's where I got mine. I went to a Catholic hospital gift shop while visiting a patient, picked up something for him, and bought my own very first non-plastic rosary. It was kind of a big deal. Out of curiosity I stopped at the public hospital gift shop while visiting another patient, and they have them too. Funny thing, I wasn't practicing the Faith when I bought this rosary. I "meant" to have it blessed, because my thinking was that blessings were "cool," but I forgot to take it with me on those rare times that I went to Mass. I did start to pray it regularly though -- while I was traveling for work, far from home, family and friends, in a stressing work environment. Every night at 9PM I prayed with Mother Angelica and the Sisters. I actually didn't really know how to pray it until then. After about a year, I had a sudden, dramatic conversion and went to Confession. I had my rosary with me, and got it blessed right after making my Confession. I have no doubt that praying the Rosary regularly contributed to my return to the Faith -- it wasn't the only thing, first I had to be led to want a rosary, and to want to pray it, but that's a very long story.

This is WRONG because Jesus Would have told us to do it. Your was made up hundreds and hundreds of years later. Look what Jesus said to do. It's all in The Bible he left us. The same Bible your priest looks at. But he doesn't tell you. I used to be Catholic. But I picked up The Bible and found out it was all wrong that we were taught. "TAKE A LOOK AT THIS!!!"
      Answer: Matthew 6:7 YES
"And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words. Matthew 6:7

Initially it took me a while to get the hang of it but now it is as easy as cycling a bike.

I remember how often my Grandma would pray the Rosary, every day, in the kitchen at the same time she'd pray it with the Catholic Radio station playing a recording of St. Pope John Paul II leading it.
When I'd visit her in Poland, it'd be my punishment to join her as a little kid when I misbehaved. I wish I didn't view it as a punishment, I wish I joined happily. But now every time I go to mass I come 40 minutes early just to pray it.

I love the bit at the end about the kids and your expression (lol). True story: When my youngest two have gotten rowdy or misbehaved, I've had them sit and pray the rosary; sometimes together, sometimes one at a time. I would sit behind them to make sure they're sitting up and paying attention. My littlest boy (6 years old), he would eventually start to rock off balance from nodding off, but he didn't completely tap out. My youngest daughter (9), she actually said it made her feel much calmer (a "wow" moment for me). As a child even into adulthood, I used to wonder how it was that people prayed the rosary over and over, without falling asleep - but I have been delving into informative videos like yours, and realizing how much deeper and meditative it gets - it's a spiritual maturity, to understand it and love it. Thank-you.

The Rosary is very powerful and asking the blessed Mother to intercede for you is also very meritorious .Ill pray for his healing also the hardest thing humanly speaking is to surrender it over to Jesus and trust I hope he's ok.
      God Bless.

The most powerful prayer is Mass.
Go to Mass every day if you can, and yes pray the rosary daily, not only for your father, but for all that are ill, for the priests, the youth, the families.
May God hear your prayers and may your father soon recover.

I joined a Catholic church a few months ago. I just prayed the Rosary for the first time with a Sacred Heart of Jesus candle lit and I felt really good after doing it.

Hi, could you do a video on contemplation and meditation? I know when I was a child I used to do it with ease. Now as a returning Catholic, I find it difficult, and deal more with the thoughts of am I doing it right or thinking the right things and it's in a way nerve wracking. #askmattfrad

Meditating on The Gospel of Jesus Christ; to help conform to Him; and intercede for others, circumstances in the world is a great prayer.

As a Catholic charismatic I have been struck by a connection between the rosary and praying in tongues. With both, you choose to pray aloud, but your thoughts are not on what your voice and lips are doing but on the Lord and the prayer of your spirit to Him.

I think that sometimes praying the rosary makes you smarter... but also you tend to become very perceptive too. People tend to learn about God and what true love really means.
