The oldest Church west of the Mississippi, the 2nd Liberty Bell, Lewis and Clark origins, and a the sad story of what could have been Americas largest city got swallowed in the watery grave, complete with an indian curse that could very well explain all the flooding. I’m a inland pushboat captain, and I couldn’t imagine paddling down this thing. I’d say from Cairo to Baton Rouge, wouldn’t be bad due to lack of fleets. But from Baton Rouge to New Orleans you are in the danger zone with fleets lining almost every bank around every bend. From Baton Rouge down you get into ship traffic. Im more upset the highest I’ve been is Vicksburg, would love to pilot every mile of the river and the rest of the inland waters, but for now I’ll settle for that.

How long would it take to canoe the entire river that’s very interesting

You can paddle it in just over a month if you dedicate your self to it. About 45 days if you take your time.
If you plan to fish along the way or do any site seeing it will add to the count.

90 days if you just go with the flow and sleep and eat in the canoe! (That’s a “don’t try it at home” thing though… well… “don’t try it in river”…) About 17 days is the record.
Upstreams…?! Besides the early explorers and trappers traveling parts of the river upstreams (and I would suppose some native Americans before that), there seems to be some adventurers who managed to paddle the whole length (and then continued on rivers even further north to the Arctic Ocean). But I can’t find any information about how long the Mississippi part took.

The irony of Eddie getting caught in an Eddie hince "there are days the Mississippi won't let you move" 🤣

Soon the Delta Queen will return to the rivers and you can ride down the Mississippi on a real historic steamboat again.
