こんなのはレゲエじゃないと言う人もいるぐらいソウルっぽいスウィートでメローなサウンドが印象的なナンバーです。
前曲Waiting in Vain同様、当時ホットな恋愛関係にあったCindy Breakspeareに捧げたラブソングです。
Waiting in Vainでは一目ぼれした女性が振り向いてくれず困り果てていたボブですが、この曲ではガールフレンドとすっかりいい雰囲気になっています。
こぼれ落ちそうな気持ちをストレートに表現しているロマンチックな歌詞です。裏の意味やメッセージはありません。
心地よい歌詞とメロディに身と心をゆだねて天がボブに与えた音楽的才能を堪能すべき一曲です。
【和訳について】
歌詞だけでなく翻訳全般に関して言えることですが、「唯一の正しい答え」というものは存在しません。
「訳す人間の数だけ答えがある」というのが翻訳本来の姿だと思います。
そして、時間の経過と共に内容理解が深まったり、意味の取り違えに気づいたりもするものだと考えています。
この和訳も現時点での訳者＜ないんまいる＞がこれでいいんじゃないかな？と思うバージョンです。あとで修正したくなるかもしれません。
