    I didn't see any anti-static measures. Do you worry about damaging the components with your static buildup?

    Thanks. Excellent video. I was wondering whether it was mSATA of mSATA.2.
    Sure wish it came with 16GB memory as docking station with two or three 27 inch monitors makes this a pretty good coding rig with one or two virtual machines running.

    Robert,
    Can always clone to another external mSATA.2 in usb enclosure, but that would really be cool if could clone to a superfast usb3 thumb or portable flash drive.
    I've used Acronis True Image 2014 to clone my XPS 15. Buy had to remove internal drive mSATA and put in external enclosure, then put new mSATA in system then clone from external to internal.
    Can clone from larger or smaller to larger or smaller so long as data would fit.
    I was also able to boot from original in the external USB enclosure.
    Acronis says Microsoft license or something prevents them from cloning internal to external and then being able to boot from external.
    I also saw some software call Casper that supposedly permits incremental cloning so don't have to perform full clone everytime.
    Let me know what you discover works.
    I'm thinking of trying "dd" to external but don't think it'll work because of drives are very different.

    • @techvideoDE
      @techvideoDE  Před 9 lety

      S G i did it with acronis as well and with the external hdd it takes about 5 minutes to clone and than again 5 minutes to clone it back in the new ssd. its alright but of course could be easier..

    Hi there, this is a very nice video. I've ordered (with regret) a 512 gb unit. However, Dell sales representative told me that it's a mSSD, would that even possible? As I see this is a m.2 SSD. On the european dell website, you will see it says "mobility SSD".... what is this exactly? I thought mSSD refers to as mini SSD.
    Do you know maybe what is the brand of the SSD used in the 512GB xps 13 (2015)? Thank you.

    In the absence of any answer from you, I've made my own check. You're misleading people here by redirecting to Plextor PCIE at Amazon. This drive is SATA III, and those who buy PCIE will find that they cannot install the drive into SATA slot.

    • @techvideoDE
      @techvideoDE  Před 8 lety +1

      The people need to buy an m.2 card. Its neither pci nor sata...

    • @damnedspike
      @damnedspike Před 8 lety

      +TechVideo that is not entirely true. while all M.2 cards are connected to a pcie mini card slot, an M.2 card can use both, the pcie bus as well as the SATA bus. M.2 cards using the SATA bus are slower than cards using the pcie bus.

    • @thisisjonb
      @thisisjonb Před 8 lety

      And this would require a BIOS update for 2015 models, but I've heard mixed reviews on whether or not it works. If an NVME drive isn't working, try booting in legacy drive mode.

      Rio Pradipto i don't think anyone would upgrade a solid state drive to a hard disk. Also 128GB is not that little.
