We finally decided to move after our synagogue & a local Jewish owned business were attacked w/antisemitic symbols & slurs written in pigs blood. Hate at a young age comes from somewhere and it isn't from school or internet, because for me, it was just before that took off. Hate starts at home and likely ends up w/ RW extremists. I don't understand the right's hatred of anti depressants. My life was miserable and I decided to make my life less miserable. How is that a bad thing? Marrying isn't going to make my brain receive serotonin better. It's not the sole solution, but it's one part of a bunch of things I do to improve my mental health. If I get married, it's not my spouse's job to fix me.
They want you miserable so that you can only use the flawed and problematic solutions that give them power, like patriarchy, certain religious models, comfort in conservative societal models, etc. It’s not necessarily as intentional as that, at least not always, but it shakes out the same way. Imagine you have some guy who is depressed, and he can either choose antidepressants or church (obv he could choose both and be fine, but let’s say for now that he’ll only choose one); if they see ANYONE choose antidepressants, then that makes antidepressants a threat to the church in their mind, and so regardless of whether or not church would actually have worked for the guy, they feel a need to remove the other option so that he isn’t “tempted” to go his own way and reject the thing they feel should be unrejectable.

Marrying isn't going to make my brain receive serotonin better. It's not the sole solution, but it's one part of a bunch of things I do to improve my mental health. If I get married, it's not my spouse's job to fix me.
They want you miserable so that you can only use the flawed and problematic solutions that give them power, like patriarchy, certain religious models, comfort in conservative societal models, etc. It’s not necessarily as intentional as that, at least not always, but it shakes out the same way. Imagine you have some guy who is depressed, and he can either choose antidepressants or church (obv he could choose both and be fine, but let’s say for now that he’ll only choose one); if they see ANYONE choose antidepressants, then that makes antidepressants a threat to the church in their mind, and so regardless of whether or not church would actually have worked for the guy, they feel a need to remove the other option so that he isn’t “tempted” to go his own way and reject the thing they feel should be unrejectable.
