Be careful with peel and stick wallpaper. It might not damage the paint underneath when you remove it right away, but with time it can bond to it tighter and become a lot harder to remove without ripping the paint off with it.
Yep. It becomes like glue over time. Especially with fluctuations in heat with the seasons and moisture content of the area and such. If you live in an area with lots of humidity and then warm spells it can literally permanently adhere to the surface in some spots while bubbling and cracking in others. Paint is actually way less damaging.
A piece of art on the right wall when you enter before taking a left would be in my opinion a nice way to invite people to come in ☺️ I love the handles they have so much character
If you can't hang pictures...find a beautiful contact paper print on the Internet and cut it the size of a very large piece of art work. Attach it to the wall behind you. If you want to add a custom art collage of your own...you can Mod Podge directly onto the contact paper. When you move and peel it off, if any paint lifts off... it's minimal and you can paint over it. It will be a beautiful piece of custom art that peels off like one huge sticker. You can also buy ready-made enlarged scenes that you can cut into a huge tall piece of artwork to fill the entry way without taking up any additional space because it's flush with the wall.❤.
Nah, if you watch dear modern you will know that mirrors in the entry way are very bad feng shui. They reflect all the good energy back outside making your home feel lifeless and subconsciously make you feel unwelcome. They also scare the shit out of you when you enter the house at night
@@zuzu-ek1wu I didn’t mean on the wall in front of you as you go in (because I know you’d be reflected out the house). I meant on the wall Maddie is leaning against in the thumbnail.
I’ve always painted in rental. I just repaint to white before I leave. A few times they’ve told me not to repaint b/c they liked what I did. I’m just not fond of white walls myself.
Landlords dont want layer upon layer upon layer upon layer of paint on THEIR property - it costs alot to get it removed and redone by professionals . Not everyone can paint well and can leave it looking a mess also cane spoil carpets and other flooring
I woke up in the prep room in the hospital and I've never been cool with white rooms since. It's not a bad phobia, but I definitely don't sleep well. I've had to put up a lot of posters.
Now all you need is an indoor plant on a high plant stand and maybe a picture or 2 on the wall. The front entrance is a great space to make a big impact and oversized artwork is a good way to do it. Either way it looks great!
I feel like a mirror on the wall between the cupboard and the front door will also help to disperse the light that comes in through the window. And maybe a little ficus tree by the light switch?
I like the mirror idea, too, but think it would have the most effect if placed on the back wall that faces into the stairway... would be fun if it had a nice frame on it...
Very nice, but I wish you would have done a still shot of the doors at the end... It's really hard to get a full concept of what it looks like while the camera is moving... Great Job!!!
You have an great eye for decor. Even at a young age, I remember you cleaning and organizing your bedroom and always found inspiration from those. You do the most beautiful things to your spaces. I can’t wait to see what your home would look like when you finally own it. I KNOW you will do an awesome job when you no longer need to worry about the landlord.
What about some bright coloured artwork on the walls.?. you can use command hooks which just peel off when you need to remove them. And a beautiful bright rug ?
You can use color thumb tacks to hold wallpaper without peeling off the sticky backing for renter friendly projects. Look nice color green you forgot to hang wall art or pics on the white walls. Good start.
Prop up a mirror along the wall space next to the door. A light and/or hanging plant from the ceiling above the (hypothetical) mirror would give the space more warmth 😊
Great start with lovely colours - the handles make a nice natural feel along with the calm green. Can't wait to see what else you do - a print on the wall; some plants/greenery?
Take the doors off the closet across from the door and create an area where you can sit with shoe storage underneath. Have a few hooks at a the back of the former closet for coats. It will make the area appear and feel bigger when you open the door and make it practical for putting shoes on and taking them off when guests arrive. In the cabinet above, that’s where you store your other coats and shoes for other seasons (or bring them down from a bedroom closet when time to switch).
You could put some of that glass film on the windows that still let light in but kind of act like stained glass and turn the light into color on the walls.
You can always just communicate with your landlord. Also sometimes you are allowed to paint walls or cupboards, you just have to make sure to paint it the original colour when you leave
Love the handles, so much character! Consider a picture on wall to the left if you’re entering. Then a small demi-lune table (or floating wall mounted table) with a mirror above it in the hallway, across from the picture.
I haven't tried it but read that you can use fabric as a wall treatment if you use liquid starch. It will adhere to the walls without damage, being easy to remove when you leave.
Yellow wallpaper in the arched area would look really warm and inviting. Also, artwork encorporating both colours with a wooden frame that matches the handles would look nice too.
You can try and add peel and stick window stickers they're added only with water and you can remove them any time you like, but on the glass they stay like a mural and it looks amazing
Maybe a wall or ceiling hanging plant by window above door. you could add a mirror on the wall where the doors open towards it'll make the space seem bigger and may reflect a little light in there
I would take that closet in front of the door out to be an open space into the living area, then where the other closet is create a wall there to convert that whole space into a walk-in closet...💡
Looks good! But can you locate the stuff in closet somewhere else and take off the doors and out and an entry way table in closet instead?? It would open up space even more. You can put your shoes under entryway table? If you get one with shelf underneath even better.
The handles are so cute. If you ever have to remove it to move or just for change and it's not coming off easily, just heat it with a hair dryer or heat gun and peel it❤
I can attest that handles can drastically change your look, we took off the round gold knobs on all our cabinets, drawers and dressers and then replaced round gold door handles to a brushed bronze lever. Our wood cabinetry and doors are in excellent condition so no need to replace.
You can add more mirrors. Like on the wall where shoerack is. Even multiple mirror opposite to each other.mirrors gives small space wider look. My mom interior designed our whole house and she did the same with my dressing room. It was small room so she put mirror everywhere. And also worked great bcz it was dressing room.
Colour looks great, very calming, the handles are rely good choice. Maybe a small shelf under the light switch or in opposite wall, so you can put keys in a bowl or what you need to put there, you could even fit a mirror on the wall down there which will bounce light around the room.
I think a big mirror on the doors you put green wallpaper on, or on the wall to the left of the door would really make the space look bigger, and then you can check your outfit at the door!
Maybe she can keep her eye open for a run with a design in it that includes the color of her door paper, a touch of her wall color, and a 3rd color or a design of thin strips to make the width of the room look wider. The rug blocks are the correct in direction, but the dark color and big blocks don't do it justice. However, her handles are super cute & a terrific choice! But, this is only IMO & budgets can limit decorating. Good job!
My entryway was like this! It was so claustrophobic. I took off the door to the closet and turned it into an area to sit and put your shoes on with a little bench at the very end of the room, and then hooks to hang coats and hats And a shelf above the bench with books and more storage for winter gloves. I don’t understand why houses are built this way lol

i do like the wallpaper idea tho (i own) bse i hate painting
I mean worst thing, they have to repaint the door white after. Not a big deal
@@Heliosvectorthen could have painted them now 🤷♀️. No big deal.
False. It will be bubbly and uneven from the wallpaper

Yes!! Agreed
@@TAMIKKOBEASTY I've also seen people do contact paper on poster boards and use "invisible" tacks to hang it. Makes a huge difference!

Great idea!! 👍👍
That's exactly what I was going to say.

@@Jan-sn5tk well that's a pity. Poor landlords.
@Jan-sn5tk landlords don't like layers of paint? Slapping on a new layer of white paint is called the "landlord special."

Honestly just those couple of things you did makes it look ten times better.

Art from thrift stores is a fun way to add color. Can also add details to paintings
Art and a huge mirror would be ace ! Tiny hallways are always tricky . Love the changes you have made and the rug ☀️

To be honest i think most landlords will love the doors its so pretty yet minimal too.
Changing the door colors was creative. Consider a brighter rug runner. Natural Life on line has some fabulous, cheerful runners. Take a look.
Add a big, vertical, rectangular mirror on one of the walls. It creates the illusion of space.
Really great job!
Doing great so far! That is a tiny entry!

Love the color of the green doors. Great ideas!
Stained glass foil above the door could be cute. Adds colour and makes the lights that filters in warmer.

The adhesive sticks stronger over time and can peel the paint later on removal. Why not a more colourful rug and brighter colour than that green?
You can always just communicate with your landlord. Also sometimes you are allowed to paint walls or cupboards, you just have to make sure to paint it the original colour when you leave
They sell rolls of window clings with different colors and designs. It adheres with just water and when the sun comes in it can add color to the area.
