  • On the land where we're building a house we have the most beautiful copse. It has a natural break in the trees and bushes that catches the evening sun and would make an amazing place for a summerhouse. My idea was to put a shipping container there and convert it at a later date. Some things aren't as straightforward as they seem!
    EQUIPMENT USED
    ○ 20' Hiab flatbed truck
    ○ Manitou Turbo Telehandler
    ○ Various shipping straps and harnesses
    ○ 3,000kg Chain winch
    ○ 2,000kg hand winch
    ○ Bottle jacks and trolley jack
    ○ scaffold planks
    ○ 6 x 2.6m 150mm x 250mm oak sleepers
    TIME IT TOOK & COST
    ○ Day 1 - HIAB delivery of container £175 + £900 container cost
    ○ Day 2 - Manitou to move the container to the copse £150
    ○ Day 3 - First attempt with shipping straps. Oak Sleepers £30 each
    ○ Day 4 - Chain winch and hand winch (£20 for second hand hand winch)
    ○ All other bits we had between ourselves.

Good stuff - no idea why I'm obsessively watching content on moving containers, without a crane or lift, when I don't have one to move . But I really appreciate the effort you put in to inform me and maybe my subconscious knows something I don't!

This is NOT moving it by "Hand" as you claim in the title. Talk about clickbait. Two thumbs down! Moving it by hand the last 20 feet is not moving it by hand when you lead people to think you are going to move it by hand the entire way as your title implies!

What a bizarre comment old rider. Definitely not click bait. I was unable to move the container beyond the sheugh using any lifting machinery so I needed to use human power to move it but struggled to find anything online. Dunno how the titles implies we moved it the entire way. What’s the entire way? A millimetre, a yard, a mile, from where it was made in China? Purely done to help anyone who’s stuck in the same situation. If you don’t like something or you were hoping for something different just move on and enjoy your life…………

Good lord aren't you a hater? Did you expect them to show up in their birthday suits and push by "hand" with no tools? Or to not use heavy equipment until they could not?
