    Where you've got those fiddly little one- and two-cell bits of zone at the edge of the new area, you can improve that by putting a fence alongside the main road running past, or making it into a non-zoneable road, and then all that space in between will become zoneable from the road on the new estate, allowing sensible sized shops and buildings.

    As always a few notes/observations:
    1) You have a metro line that was dedicated for this area, but you didn't connect it.
    2) The road between the rail line and the new roundabout has two junctions very close to each other. I would remove pedestrian crossings at one of those to limit traffic interference.
    3) I would LOVE for you to start hunting for some of the big monuments (or what they are called) like the Space-Elevator. Well. Maybe not that one, but I'm sure there are several cool Monuments that would fit in nicely into New Tealand!
    Either way, keep doing what you're doing. I'm always happy when you post a new vid.

    Got the notification at work there was a new video. Have had to wait to watch it. Yay. New Biffa. Thanks for the YumblTV recommendation too. Decided to create a new city and between you and Yumbl I feel this is starting a lot better than the first one.

    Excellent video! One thought - I think the height disparity between zones will go away. The self sufficient buildings start out at full height and never upgrade, but the high tech buildings will eventually upgrade and get taller!

    I think if you select the p+b path and then do the predestrian bridge builder, it will build it using the selected p+b path and you won't need to upgrade it later on. Great video by the way. Love it. 🙂

    27:25 get rid of the 1x1 squares by running a fence alongside the main road, it'll kill the zoning giving you more room for the inside grid. You might need to upgrade/downgrade the road for it to appear.

  • @tvdinner1986
    @tvdinner1986 Před 3 lety +1

    13:21 there is a second crossing where the bridge reconnects to the road, which is very close to the one at the 3-way. I would suggest removing the one at the bridge's edge, as it may cause unnecessary stopping for traffic later on; plus it would make the road-type transition look smoother, visually :D

    Biffa!! Right at @22:24 when you are de-zoning the main road, you could fence up the left side of this main road. This will remove the zoning from it and "give it back" to the residential side. So instead of having 1 square wide house zone, it will go wider up to the fence! It's a vanilla way of dezoning roads since i know you want to reduce the amount of mods you have and this does the exact same thing as the Zoning toolset mod!!
    Amazing vid!!! Cheers

    Great video! I'm loving watching this city develope, but I do have some suggestions regarding your public transport.
    1. It's all very well having your train/metro station but you haven't actually set up a train line going to it yet so it's only intercity trains at the moment, and not local trains.
    2. Your bus line around the area is in a loop, which is fine, but the loop only goes in one direction, which has 2 issues:
    a. It's inconvenient; imagine you want to get the bus to just down the road but to do so, you have to go THE WHOLE WAY round the loop.
    b. It could lead to overcrowding, if they are all relying on just one line.
    So yeah to solve these issues I recommend having at least 2 lines, a clockwise, and an anticlockwise.

    Did you fix the path next to the Public Library by the university that connected it to Sunset Park? I tried to look in the cinematic ending but couldn't get the right angle. Also, a dog park or a couple of small parks would be great in the new area! They would get a ton of use with all of the high density housing!

    It's looking good! You could extend the large road in the new residentials district to the island, than move the library to there. I think it would look supercool to have a small river island library.
    I was also gonna suggest the gigantic park in the are you suggested, just before you mentioned you were planning to do that.

    You should connect the new area to the little roundabout near the basketball arena. I also love the idea of a massive park across the road from your new area. I also think it is a good idea to connect the road near your new commercial zone to that highway junction.

    Should make that road next to the train tracks a small bridge to connext the areas over the river. Could then upgrade that whole outer road to something bigger.
    Having the bridge there keeps bridges centralized

    I think the roads that end in a straight line would benefit from becoming a nice cul de sac road instead!
    Even though it's normally more used outside of the city I think it ends the road nicer and makes the turning around of busses and vehicles look better as well.

    The person who made this map did a fantastic job.
    Fun fact: the meandering curves in the river is created when a river makes its way across soft terrain, such as former seabed. At first, the water will dig a trench wherever it can, which can create some quite dramatic curves.
    Eventually, the river will break through in the places where such curves are close together, and will then prefer the shorter, faster route. This will leave the "abandoned" parts with less waterflow, and they may even become separated into little lakes.
    This isn't particularly relevant to your video, I just felt like sharing a fun fact.

    Hey Biffa, dunno how you feel but if you want your grids to be more interesting/features but still have right-angled grids, maybe you can delete a few crossroad connections. I.e. have instead of many 10x10 squares have a few 20x10 or 30x10 rectangles in vertical and horizontal arrangements randomly. This way everything is still completely gridded but less unnecessary connection and maybe more interesting?
    Anyways loving the vids, cant wait to watch them every time I get a notification.

  • @naerbo19
    @naerbo19 Před 3 lety

    Alright. I noticed this in earlier episodes, but I'm mentioning it here for the first time. The roads you place have been depressed a couple of meters. The reason is a mod on your lower left hand side which only pops up when building roads. It is a small circular icon mentioning a number then m for meter. I.e. "1m". You'll find it to the left of straight road, curve and meander road icons.
    Also you love busses, but you have already planned a metro from there. You even have the subway tunnel there. If you have traffic problems it might be worth checking. Otherwise excellent video!
    Would love a zoo! You rarely do zoo's which is a shame as they look quite nice and brings in more life to your city. Also helps with increasing land value.

    The bus line might benefit from having stops going on the opposite direction. Usually bus lines are not closed circles, but they go to a place, and then back again. That allows cims to go from place A to B without having to do the whole loop again.

  • @samosborne4403
    @samosborne4403 Před 3 lety

    Hey Biffa, I’ve played this map before, several times actually as it’s a gorgeous map. You’ll find with this map that traffic from the start point (and your main city) doesn’t have access through the primary three way highway junction to the area you are expanding to on the main island (new connections with the spider junction). Similarly, traffic flow is impeded in the other direction. This causes an increase in traffic through the University area, the roundabout and the intersection to the highway. If you update the three way highway junction to enable traffic from all directions to travel in all directions, I hope you will find a great return on your traffic flow 😊

  • @Phillthii

    The court house actually has integrated paths with connection. That's what those little circles are when you are building paths next to the building. A lot of landmark buildings have them.

    1) There is an unused metro line linking to the tearantula junction. The are behind the courthouse is perfect for the metro station
    2) You could add a cable car network between the two areas on either sides of the mountain range
    3) More trams please!
    4) You could activate the ban cycling on sidewalk feature to encourage more people to use the bike lanes

  • @danielwarren7110
    @danielwarren7110 Před 3 lety +1

    28:35 you do realise the court house has path nodes to allow you to attach directly to the building, and putting the path around the court house has not connected to the nodes on the building, effectively removing multiple points of access to the building?
    And your bus loop is only one direction so you can go to the shops but then have to go all around the loop to get back home.
    also along the main road from the parklo if you de zone or put a fence the small zones for the other roads will get bigger, as you said you were not going to zone along there
    also the walking cycle bridge near the second library you disconnected it to place the library but never reconnected it
    love the video as always keep them coming
    *edit, just saw on your close screen you fixed the bridge and reconnected it off camera haha.
