I was on a shutdown at a powerhouse. We were rebuilding a cooling tower. The paychecks didn't come on payday. So, 100+ union carpenters went to the break trailers and refused to work or leave. By the agreement they had to pay us for waiting. It was a miracle. They got it done but they were mad as hell.
Had that happen once. We started loading tools in our trucks. The owner came out and started handing out cash with an extra 50 bucks. 50 bucks was something 25 years ago.
Pretty sure Roscoe and Ricky got paid one way or another. Boss man and Safety man knew those two were gonna be lookin for them if they didn't get paid. Haha
I just love it when the company yells that we "shouldn't be discussing pay with each other! It's against policy!" Then when policy meets Mr. Law things happen REAL quick, lol.
I speak from experience when I say: work for a company that pays out on payday, EVERY PAYDAY, regardless of when you started working in the scheduled cycle. Worked for a company that paid every two weeks, came in the middle of the cycle, didn't pay me _FOR THREE WEEKS, THEN ONLY PAID ME FOR TWO._ That was only the FIRST of MANY unacceptable issues.
If you didn't get paid for 3 weeks at a place that pays every 2 weeks, that means that you started at the beginning of a 2 week cycle. Lets say you work for a place that pays every 2 weeks, and your pay is tomorrow (May 9th, as it is for me) well you aren't being paid for this week (week of May 6th) you are being paid for the weeks of Apr 22 and Apr 29.
No, they paid every two weeks, for a MAXIMUM AMOUNT of two week's pay. They should have either paid me half the cycle's pay, one week's worth, or paid me all three weeks when they handed out the next cycle of paychecks. Instead, they paid me the THIRD week, for the last TWO weeks. (They also offered me time off in exchange for overtime, even though they had a severe manpower shortage. As in, "You worked X hours over the past few days (since I couldn't even sit down long enough to eat lunch), you can clock in late tomorrow.") I quit after a month of their BS, and I know if it was any later, they would have forgotten all about that first week. The 'final' paycheck didn't come until the week after, and frankly I'm surprised it showed up at all.
