Samsung DeX is a seriously cool concept, but Iâll be the first to admit that itâs not a desktop or laptop replacement, for me at least. With that being said, portable displays have recently sparked my interest in DeX again. Having used DeX a lot more lately, these are some essential tips that I think everyone should know about, for a better DeX experience.

To enable developer options:
Open settings > scroll down to About Samsung DeX > Tap Samsung DeX 5 times quickly > Turn Developer Options ON.

How can you play Netflix Content in Dex?
For me it says it can't show the content because it's block.
That's fine, but even with developer options turned on, Netflix doesn't fill the screen. Developer options does nothing.

I use Dex most of the time. It has replaced a desktop for most of what I do. I use an iPad Pro for my video editing, but the PowerDirector on Dex can do the job for most people. Just a little lag was all I experienced. Iâve showed quite a few people Dex and some have given up their computers. Dex works best with a lot of RAM though

Just started using it. It's great! Only big draw back right now is if you plug it into a monitor you have to have a bluetooth keyboard/mouse.

I'll be starting to make videos of my own in the near future. I've picked up a very basic setup to run dex. I even picked up a monitor that was being thrown out for an office upgrade to display it, along with a USB keyboard and mouse (I'll go bluetooth if I find its worth spending more money)
I struggled to be productive at home sitting on my bed or on the sofa, and I cannot use a company aptop for personal use. So a desk and a home dex setup will make my life a heck of a lot easier.

Great tip about the HDMI cable for hotel rooms. I have used a cable from a laptop to a TV but being able to do it with your phone would be super handy. It would also force you not to look at your phone when watching a movie too ha.
Hey just a tip, you can log in into your CZcams account on your cellphone (mobile version of the desktop) and then when you turn on youtube on Dex, it'll be logged in
I have no issues logging on youtube and gmail account on the samsung internet browser

I got dex a couple days ago and I didn't even know it had this feature till i read my notifications (i got the older one with and HDMI plug) but since i found this out id love to work on my writing with google docs. My handwriting is booty and i use a laptop thats a year older than me. This is gonna help with my hobby a lot

1) I couldn't find the additional info on the full screen tip. i enabled developer toolbar, but is there any additional setting i need to do?
2) apart from the portable screen, a foldable keyboard+trackpad is a godsend when travelling.
3) Logitech has some multi-device keyboard and mice combo that would enable fast switching between devices
dex is a great option for people on the go!

Excellent content and definitely subscribed and shared! Quick question: are you able to use flow for your phone and monitor or laptop? Is there a better work around or setup for using the Mx mouse..
Some good tips, the keyboard shortcuts are very useful. I've used DeX a lot over the last year and now have the Nexdock 2. I almost never bother with my Windows machine.
As for browsers, check out Yandex Browser. It allows you to always open the desktop site and sign into your Google account.
Thank you for being one of only a handful to mention enabling Developer Mode. It makes SeX function as it should've from the get-go.
Worth noting that OneUI 2.1 has brought window snapping so dragging a window to the left or right edge of the screen will dock it on that half accordingly, the same as meta+arrow key.
100% agreed on Samsung Internet as the best desktop experience for browsing in DeX. Regarding the issue of opening in app, clear the default apps and you'll get the option to open links in browser rather than in another app.
As for your mention of not being able to sign into your Google account, that's simply not true. I'm not sure what your issue was, but that's not normal behavior. I use web Gmail and CZcams regularly with my Google account in Samsung Internet.

I do a lot of translation work (Korean, Japanese), and there are a ton of useful Android apps for this.

Great video however you can use Samsung internet with your Google accounts! I use it with all my accounts. I think you may have add blockers installed which will no longer give you access unless you disable them.

It's been years for me since I don't use laptop am not a professional , sonindonverybsime things and a smartphone is enough, this dex stuff is great đ for me and sticking to it and hopefully they keep innovative stuff coming
I'm gutted I've just brought the z flip and it doesn't work on my DeX station I will have to carry on using my note 8 till Samsung brings out a software for the z flip that's if there going too such a expensive phone and not to have DeX on it .Thanks for another great video đ

I'll give it a go on my PC when I get home. The biggest issue was the screens not snapping. Let's see if it works okay now! Haven't really touched it since Aug 2019 when I got my Note 10+. đđđ

When I plug on my s9+ I can activate rotate landscape mode and plugin just my phone and use the full screen without external power, and without Dex. I don't know if this is just a recent update but I found it useless to connect an external cord and use Dex but it is pretty cool that it can do it.

You saved me! I replaced my broken PC with a Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus (the most advanced thing I do is CZcams) and there was no J or K pressing to skip around in videos in neither Chrome nor the CZcams app! Switched to the Samsung Browser and everything is like on a computer. Thanks!

I just want to know that can I use it as a substitute of my laptop because I have a s20ultra and i think thats a powerful phone, can it replace my laptop for all my online schooling if i buy a monitor with a camera. will i be able to use microsoft apps and get the most out of them through this dex feature????

In Samsung's browser you can sign in to CZcams and can see your subscriptions, and ctrl+mosue scrolling works like in a pc browser, so you don't need to preset the size for every webpage. I also like this browser cause it's able to work well in a full dark mode, for every website.

So, a little heads up; go to the mirror option if you're only using DeX for CZcams or Netflix. With a bluetooth mouse, you're basically set. With my xbox controller, I even play(some) video games this way

Hi Thao, bought my daughter S10 and the Dex Pad for USB hub, charge and HDMI out. Her laptop died so want to use DEX for Zoom. How do you use a webcam as phone is in dock? Will USB webcam work with Skype or Zoom. Dex works for me direct to office laptop to use S10 for apps not accessible on VPN (FB and CZcams etc)

I am logged into both my youtube accounts on my Samsung browser, and i have ad block set up, no issues. When did the google accounts not supporting samsung browser become a thang?
Also try running linux via proot in termux or UserLAnd, its a niche but having eclipse, android studio, blender and even simulation solvers running on a phone that makes me chuckle.

Hi Thao, great tips there. Thank you, but did you know how to hide the pointer/cursor when using the phone as track pad? I use my note 20 dex mode to play games (emulator *cough*), I like to play games with my bluetooth controller, but somehow my controller only works on the game after I activate the phone trackpad, and It somehow permanently shows the pointer, I can drag it to bottom to make it less noticeable, but it's not perfect.
