@jeremyhughes6020 Bettman said in an interview,'There will be no more Canadian teams'. That's because everyone keeps asking about the Nordiques. If Canada had a few more teams, they could have their own division.
It’s not Quebec I can assure of that as someone who lives in Montreal. It would be a complete waste of the leagues time, and money. Eric lindros did the right thing. Nice to visit for one day and then run from it.
Exactly they know goddamn well they won’t make much more money with two teams in Quebec than one, they’d have more ticket sales and short term more merchandise sales but the know if they don’t give them a team they’ll just support the habs. But at the same time if it was strictly about revenue the coyotes would’ve left a long time ago and there would be no rumours about Atlanta
@@KWally league alignment they had to move Columbus and Detroit to make room for Vegas and Seattle. they can do what they want, it is bettmans fault cuz his actual reason for not going there is strictly the shitty Canadian dollar and the fact it’s predominantly French speaking which doesn’t ALIGN with his desire to grow the league in America. Hamilton actually has a better chance of supporting a team. Or Kitchener. Both have larger population bases that are not french(makes things difficult always- sorry but true).
Screw the nordiques. That conversation needs to be put to bed. It’s a city not even close to a million and frankly they had their chance. Anyone remember the Atlanta reproduction????? It didn’t work. And that’s a much larger city.
@@steph1433 maybe you’ll get that team back one day. Maybe not. Either way I don’t really care. It was lost because your government and community didn’t appropriately support the team.
Quebec paid the the price for their separatist attempts, that killed the opportunity for a new arena because the government was broke, investment, head offices left Quebec, terrible economy. Man, they would still be a third world state if it wasn’t for Alberta’s money continually paying for their institutions. You’ll never hear that from a frenchie though, they have way to much false pride. Nords were a great team though, loved the battles with the Habs and yes, Quebec is a beautiful city.
Yeah, also no one likes to mention the onset of equalization payments keeping Canadian franchises Canadian when the Canadian dollar was tanking. But now that cities like Miami, Phoenix, and Columbus are using it to stay afloat, it’s a god damn travesty.
I have no idea where you’re reading the information that Alberta is Funding Quebec or paying for their institutions. The only payments are from equalization and if you understood what that meant you would also realize Ontario pays the most tax out of everyone and that tax money gets spread around per province. Alberta pays Ottawa all the tax revenue and Ottawa gives zero back. Alberta has the highest income rate out of any other province. If you’re going to type a paragraph..understand what the hell you’re saying buddy.

It would be awesome if the the Nordiques returned. I always liked their name and uniforms.
YES!!!! QUEBEC NEEDS A TEAM!!
Want them back more then another Atlanta team I’ll tell you that
As long as Bettman is in charge Quebec will never have another team.
Waaaaaaaa
That’s what they said about Winnipeg

As long as Quebec City is an AHL sized market, they’ll never have another NHL team. Makes zero sense financially.

You're right😅
Quebec has a team. The Habs.
The NHL already has the fan base locked up in Quebec.
That's what it's about.
Generating more revenue.

Move the coyotes there
Bettman will never let it happen
Never gonna happen, and it’s not because of Bettman.
Will never happen because of league alignment. Has nothing to do with Bettman

Caring about traditional tv is literally the nhls biggest fault

Under what metric did they not support them? Cause it definitely wasn’t an attendance issue.
