Crooklyn was a Spike Lee movie (Clockers too) set in this time period. The Q-Tip version of the song is different but equally as great. The 90's was the best period in hip-hop.
I like both versions... it's hard to pick. Clockers is low key a '90s classic. Some people didn't like it because it didn't have a whole lot of graphic violence like Menace II Society or Boyz N the Hood, but it was deep and emotionally surreal. Delroy Lindo and Isaiah Washington acted their asses off.
@@KtotheGlockers is better than menace to me I watch clockers so many times the little boy killing the crack head at the end
@@KtotheG Crooklyn is a little before Clockers in the timeline i think..
yeah the plot of crooklyn takes place in 1973, and clockers was set in modern day which at the time was 1995.
HOLD UP!!!! There is a Q-Tip version as well!!? I only discovered this song recently and the beat just slaps so hard. I listened to the whole soundtrack album this song was on. I also love the references to other songs like Black moon - Who got da props "straight from Crooklyn, better known as Brooklyn" and "survival of the fittest" line like Mobb Deep and then wu-tang "Jah" rules everything around me CREAM get the money, Dollah Dollah Bill y'all :D
BTW: I can't find that Q-tip version of the song. If anyone would be so kind to link what song you mean @greghamilton
JERU'S 1ST ALBUM IS 'THE SUN RISES IN THE EAST', HIS 2ND IS 'WRATH OF THE MATH' BOTH PREEMO PRODUCED..
Wrath Of The Math is BANANAS!

Chubb Rock verse on Dodgers 95…if he rapped more like that and less like Treat Em Right people would remember him…
Yes both fucking classics
@@MrSnappyJonesCome on bruh. Treat Em Right came out a whole five years before this song and was better than most songs in 1990. Chubb was always dope for the era he was in but he never wanted to compromise his art which basically everyone was doing in the mid 90s.
Chubb Rock just the two of us. Tight beat and flow is definitely on
I was just about to write this comment. I love the video so much
This song STILL hard af!! STR8 CLASSIC‼️ 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 That beat tho!! 🥶
That damn bell ring gets me every time
Both parts are still in my regular rotation along with Gang Starr, Group Home…and soooo many other thick slices of dope shyt!
@@deejaay4706premo is ill…hands down top 5 HH producers of all time
You really are hittin all the CLASSICS! This was our vibe freal!
Clockers is such a underrated film
I was 17 in 95. Now im 45. Time flys. 🤘
Old head
I'm 41 this year. Memories for real though.
I was 16 and now I'm turning 45 next month. This was my favorite song when it came out because I was a big fan of every emcee on it individually and I used to see Chubb Rock when he would dip through DC sometimes.
Same here
Peace king #Big50
You gotta review the ENTIRE The Sun Rises in The East album by Jeru….I’m telling you!!!!!!!!!
Best Crooklyn Dodger line up imo! I was rockin my Crooklyn hat today too 🔥🔥🔥
"So violent crimes black on black... plus mad crack to boot... everybody can't rap so most hustle and shoot......" -Jeru... Powerful line.
Jeru's 1st album is "The Sun Rises In The East". CLASSIC album. You gotta hear that one. His 2nd album is also dope. It's called "Wrath Of The Math"
Songs like this are so nostalgic for me. I was just out of high school, first job, first apartment of my own, first long term girlfriend, dad (amazingly) bought me a pair of Technics SL 1210s, I started DJing in local bars, got on the radio once, taught myself how to scratch and beat juggle. I can even remember certain smells from that time when I listen to music like this (CK One cologne). Great memories.
D&D All Stars KRS One, Jeru, Fat Joe, Smif N Wessun, Mad Lion produced by DJ Premier. This song 👆 was also produced by DJ Premier
Summer of 95. What a year!!!!! ✊🏿💯
My favorite period of all time for hip Hop. Before Suge and Diddy ruined everything.
Classic. The beat just personifies 90s NY hip hop perfectly
Crooklyn Dodgers had various lineups thru the years- all those members you mentioned were not in group at same time… Chubb Rock underrated! Check his banger “Treat Em Right”. Jeru one of the greatest. His debut The Sun Rises In The East, produced by Premier, is the album you want. 2nd album Wrath Of The Math (also Premier) not far behind.
Used to see Chubb Rock damn near everyday. He used to live in my building.
Chubb Rock and O.C are incredible also..O.C has helped me through some tough times
O.C is so underrated, his album with Apathy was fire as fuck
chubb rock was saying "whity's can sell on the corners of bushwick" not white tee's lol
It's white tees.Did you notice the number of white tees being worn when he said that?
@@gakdaniels76 1995 lol? i was there.white tees became a big thing in 98 or 99
@@gakdaniels76 look up the lyrics . here
Whitey can sell on the corners of Bushwick
Whitey can sell on the corners of Flatbush
Whiteys can sell on the corners of Bed-Stuy
Pass the torch to that nigga guy
So just die, nigga, die, nigga
You're too black, you can't handle, you're too strong
Get high
he says whitey the first 2 times and then white tee's the 3rd time go look at the lyrics on genius for why its that and if you listen you can hear the difference
This is from the movie Clockers.
Even O.C is one of the best rappers
Try to review his second album Jewelz Released: August 19, 1997
Chubb Rock was a pre-med student at Brown, an Ivy league university. He quit school to pursue rap.
Chubb Rock "BEEF" featuring Das EFX and PMD
One of the best tracks of the 90s. You have to do the first Crooklyn Dodgers with Masta Ace, Buckshot and Special Ed produced by Q-Tip. Masta Ace is on the chorus of Return of Crooklyn Dodgers as the bridge between the two versions of the crew. Both versions of the Dodgers crew did their tracks for different Spike Lee movies, Crooklyn and Clockers.
He already reacted to the 1st crooklyn a year ago

"Wrath Of The Math" is the album from Jeru you should review. Jeru was one of my biggest emcee inspirations.
Chubb Rock is slept on.
They all went in but Jeru killed it!
summer of 95 was on another level!!! you right though, you can feel the heat from the concrete just listening to this record
Nice reaction. This is a heater!! You should do Chubb Rock’s Treat Em Right 🔥🔥🔥
Yeah there were 3 groups. The First was Special Ed, Buckshot and Masta ace, This one, and Most Def, Memphis Bleek, and Jean Grae off of 9th Wonders album.
I mean, this whole joint JUMPS off like a rocket ship and you just hold on, bobbin head HARD the wholllllle time!
Chubb Rock's voice is one of the powerful in all of music IMO. He talking to yo fkn soul.
Chubb Rock's verse: "Whitey can sell on the corner of Bushwick, Whitey can sell on the corners of Flatbush, Whiteys can sell on the corners of Bed-Stuy........(He's doesn't mean white T-shirts..)
Yeah, my boy did misinterpret that. It's all good though 😂
Peace King. Peace to the Family. This my shit. Premo bless this track💯🔥🔥🔥🔥
I heard this instrumental a million times before finally finding this track. Was super popular with the underground cats to spit over in freestyle sessions
For real. Anytime I heard this beat I assumed someone was about to spit FLAMES!
I haven’t thought about Clockers in 20 year, what a trip
O.C. Is part of the D.I.T.C. Crew…..definitely something you should look into……(and talent and production skills).
OC and Jeru are two of MANY rappers of that era that are 5 Percenters.
chubb rock been lacing it since 1987. true legend and underrated.
O.C. is another slept on emcee.
It’s most definitely a Blessing to see you (a relatively young man) diggin in the crates and respectin something as dope as this! I felt your energy waaaaay down here in Mississippi! Lol. Just imagine how powerful this was when it originally dropped!! 🤦🏾♂️
…bruh, keep bangin that real out cha speakers! 🤙🏾
i think youre ready for a trip to nyc. you need to see it and breath it in.
"Fire burns the unjust like arson larceny /Melting MC's through mental telepathy"
KingAhmad... keep doing your thing my young brother. Seeing you discover these classic gems brings me back to my youth. Great music is timeless. Keep digging in the crates my brother. Peace and God bless!
Chubb Rock underrated like a mf...
One of favorite MCs for sure! Wrath of the Math is his best best album IMHO. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
yeah, this to the soundtrack of Spike Lee's movie called Clockers.
the chorus scratched by DJ Premier is samples from Special Ed, Black Moon, Masta' Ace...
This takes Me back to playin' Ceilo and then bouncin' up to Jamaica Avenue and Linden Boulevard before hitting John J. Burns. NY was Paradise in the early 90s, I really do miss it.
Still got an unopened 12” copy of this which I bought from Beat St Records up in Brooklyn many years ago. Jeru killed this, I felt sorry for Chubb & O.C., even though they done their thing!
Jeru is one of the very few Hip Hop artists that dropped two stone cold classics one after the other- The Sun Rises In The East and Wrath Of The Math. Both classic from START to FINISH.
Mobb Deep, Gang Starr, Masta Ace, Ghostface being the others, off the top of my head…
Bruh, I know you not talking about the one that was on Fulton St, that was my spot.✌🏾
@@rahshaanmuhammad1671 yip, that’s the very one.
I like the look on your face when hear someone you know. Lol
Also, I think that was Chubb Rock
🤔 Lol
Original Crooklyn Dodger part one with Buckshot and Ace! This is part 2!
Also…OC’s album Jewelz a true classic. Your homie DJ premier drops gems on it, and you need to hear da homie BUMPY KNUCKLES
His first 2 albums are classics. OC underrated as fuck.
Just seen this. Love how the youngers are finally realising what real hip hop was all about. Much love ftom the UK baby ❤
I enjoy watching your reactions. You have a true old school hip-hop spirit.
Chubb Rock had the coldest open of all time.
Also, I think this is the song or one of the songs that sparked the Jeru vs Biggie beef, which Biggie addressed on Kick In The Door. On Kick In the Door, Big dissed Nas, Jeru, Ghostface, Raekwon, Primo (the guy who produced the song, lol) and Boot Camp Clique. That's why at the beginning, he kept saying, "This goes out to you...and you and you..."
Big was a sensitive dude lol. Not near as sensitive as Pac but definitely took a lot of shit personally when it wasn't that deep.
Big don't like the wu cuz they beat his ass and junior Mafia ass
One of the greatest golden Era tracks both Part 1 and 2. Essential lessons.
Great seeing comments for Chubb Rock….can’t forget “Yabadabadoo”……..and the hard back and forth intro “Caught Up Remix” and “DJ Innovator” instrumental with the Gwen McRae “Rockin’ Chair” sample (ie. Also used by Blahzay & PF Cuttin “Danger” Original version
Underrated And Never Duplicated
W tym filmie grał Fredro Starr z Onyx. Podobała mi się jego rola i film był dobry. Pozdrawiam rocznik 1980
95 tinha 17 anos, hoje estou com 46. Esse som continua sendo muito foda ainda. Salve do Brasillll
Ras kass "home sweet home" or its called "kiss u" off the van gogh album. Oh and this track is from probably my favorite/most watched spike Lee movies called Clockers. Fredro Starr and Sticky Fingaz were in the movie.
2 Spike Lee movies are mentioned or shown in this music video: "Crooklyn" and "Clockers".
Jeru...the Sun Rises in the East.
O.C. is slept on . Check out 'Times Up', that's his biggest song.
Nah fam. Not to real hip hop heads he is not slept on.
The video had clips from the Spike Lee movie Clockers. I recommend checking that movie out. It's a great one. Put Mekhi Phifer on the map. Also had Fredro Starr and Sticky Fingaz from Onyx in it.
Love this banger right here. 🔥 🔥 🔥
This is my favorite hiphop song of all time! Everything was just so perfect! The beat, the rhymes, the atmosphere and the video
Yea, you're gonna spazz when you hear The Sun Rises in the East. Wrath of the Math is an underrated follow-up.
Chubb Rock + Das EFX - Beef is a crazy track as well!!
Chubb was saying "Whitey" referencing a group of ppl...maybe. Salute btw 🫡
Jeru is one of my favorites all time. The knowledge and lyrics wrapped in everything’s crazy! The delivery is gold.
Ahmad thanks for reviewing this video. This was Brooklyn Anthem back in the day. Brooklyn let's goooo! Bedford & Sullivan, Mckeever & Montgomery, Jackie Robinson, in 95 we taking back Ebbets Field!
This my 💩!!! Premier on the beat! The movie where this is from is pretty good too - “Clockers”. ..came out during my first ever trip to New York ‘95 so it def puts me in a New York State of mind❤️❤️
Bought this joint when it came out on 12 inch vinyl, still in my collect
"Chips that power nuclear bombs, powers my SEGA". Bruh... 🤯
Great react- real hip hop! Waiting for that Gangstarr
BROOKLYN IS ONE OF THE 5 BOROUGHS OF NYC,
BROWNSVILLE/BED-STUY/EAST NEW YORK/FLATBUSH ETC ARE NEIGHBORHOODS WITHIN THE BOROUGH OF BROOKLYN..
Yeah just wanted to come on here and correct the young king ahmad on that as well. The boroughs of NY are: Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, the Bronx and Staten Island. Just for your knowledge.
Btw, loved your live stream with Dilla v. Madlib. I actually gave Madlib more rounds than y'all did, so I definitely think a part two is in order!!
Still like the first Crooklyn Dodgers more.
Like the 3rd one best
You gotta do Kendrick's Rigor Mortis Remix with Busta Rhymes. Spittin at it's finest
Yeah man, you got me str8 trippin' when you read off the MC "line-up" @ the beginning of the vid because I was almost certain Jean Grae, Mos Def & Memphis Bleek was not in this song at all! But I'm glad it was cleared up by the end of the video. This was one of my all time favorite songs back then, during this time.
Side Note: Can you do a Reaction video to "Copenhagen" (Claimin' Respect) by The Boulevard Connection!??
FUN FACT: Chubb Rock was a pre-med student but dropped out of an Ivy League college to be an MC.
Jeru always outshined in this track
I think that's DJ Premier with the backwards cap. 4:37
Appreciate the upload. Don't think I've heard this lineup.
I was a real young kid at this time but I remember everything about this single, all talented emcee's🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Well U did part one might as well do part TWO 👍🏽👍🏽
OC time's up is a classic
Shout out Clockers 💥 💥 💥
1995 classic ✊🏾💯🔥
Premo production on Wrath of the Math is the closest thing to Only built 4 Cuban Linx
Sun rises in the east has the song Come clean . The wrath and the math was the heat.
Yo king I think you should look into doing a masta Ace reaction video.anything from disposable arts album or long hot summer album. I think both of those are classics. I know people use that word a little too often but frthey are really good! Either way like I always say I'm rocking wit u 👑
Beat is mesmerizing
It's cool you can see spike lees weird camera style in the vid
Got a suggestion, it's a mix though. Marvin Gaye and Mos Def - The Departure. It's an amazing listening experience for any hip hop head.
Ray Vaughn is spitting Barzzz on the 🎤 mic on (LA Leakers Ray Vaughn) You 🧠 brain will think it's inside of a jail cell because of so many Barzzz. Non 🛑 stop Barzzz after Barzzz after Barzzz after Barzzz is the only thing you'll 👂 hear coming thru your 🔊 speakers or 🎧 headphones. Ray Vaughn has more bars than a Super Maximum Prison. Don't 😴💤 sleep on doing this reaction to a Barzzz heavy 🎥 video. I promise you won't be disappointed. PEACE ✌️.
Dope reaction. Now, what do we have to do to get your reaction to Broken Language by Smoothe Tha Hustler and Trigga Da Gambler? At this point, I'm close to giving up and just hoping you happen upon it by accident.
Listen to Jeru 's-Can't stop the prophet 2 -3
