- Here's this weeks ASMR version of this video: • Throwing and Trimming ...
As always, thanks for watching! Especially this time, it's been a while since I've done any throwing with larger amounts of clay, especially firmer lumps like this. For more of an explanation about the process please do click on over and watch the narrated version.

I throw using a Rohde HMT500 potter's wheel and for the most part use Bison trimming tools.

A magnificent piece! Thanks for posting. I find that throwing pieces as large as this is exhausting… centering and pulling so much clay is very strenuous for me.
This video really highlights the benefit of a sturdy rim and its structural relevance.
Seriously you helped me fall asleep in an instant. Most relaxed I've ever been. It's amazing.
The amount of control you have in hands is extraordinary! I wish I have similar skills in future. Great job, and congrats on such a beautiful piece.
Just found your videos on recommended. I only took a pottery class in college, but it was fun. Maybe I'll try again just for fun! Watching you work I can almost smell the clay and feel it as well. Very relaxed now, thank you!
I can’t get over how dry the clay sounds yet seems so easy to trim without getting any chattering!
This is like those baby sensory videos for me, i love watching your videos so much
Looks so good:)
You videos are so relaxing and nice. Makes me want to start pottery. I wanna leave me pre pre med school and join arts school. I mean graduate from science high school just so I can re start my arts and your videos give me so much motivation.
I wanted to write it in caps but because I am saying this with a soothing tone I don't want u to read it like I am screaming on top of my lungs.
Love watching you work!
Thank you 🙌🏻
Ditto.
You are the best!
Hermoso trabajo 🤍
Fantastic
Keep up the good work 🥰🤗

I’m new at this and I’m taking classes rn one day I want to be as good as you
Amazing..😍✨👍🏻
Excellent. Good luck in your endeavors. Don't get tired!
This is true ASMR
Magnificent. I love watching you work. How wide is this bowl?
Nice bro
Florian, I have trouble keeping my keys from getting loose while trimming. I press them in tight and use clay that is firmer. Do you have this problem and how do you solve it?
How do you remove the piece off the wheel without deforming it? Do you wait until it's dry or do you use heat-gun to speed up the process? I am curious.
Love from India 😃
Lots of love from Pakistan ❤❤❤
So if like a hair stand falls in there. Is it better to let it burn on the kiln or take it out. Possibly noticing after it's been dried? I guess my question is how bad would it be if I didn't notice it.
You're really doing such a amazing Works..!😍
You will confirmly reach 1 Million soon for your Hard Work & Bloopers Too..🤭
Love From Srilanka..♥️🇱🇰 ( It's Really Far Away!! )😂
Niceeee
How much clay did you need for this bowl?
Amei
How many kilos of clay did you use and what was the diameter of the bowl.
Do you prefer working with a harder clay when throwing a large bowls ?
No! It just so happened the clay left in the bag was pretty firm but I much prefer softer stuff for bowls like this, hard clay makes centring a pain.
Do you know of a place that makes custom stamps? I love how small and simple but quaint yours is. And I would definitely know it if I saw it 🤗
I’m afraid I’m really not the person to ask as I’ve always made my own stamps! Not something I’ve researched unfortunately.
@@floriangadsby can we get a video about you making a stamp sir ?
@@vq5962 i second this request please, as i really want one
I am kinda curious… how many years have you been doing pottery?
A decade or so now, perhaps a little longer.
Now how many tries did this one take lol
whats ur age when u start pottery sir?
16 I think, but we started using clay in my school from the ages of 6! Didn't sit at the wheel until I was 16 though and that's when I got addicted to it!
@@floriangadsby tnx so much sir ur videos are rlly nice and i love pottery i hope one day i can be like u sir
That sure is a lot of trimming.
I’m guessing you used about 6 lbs of clay?
experience in trimming...???...!!!...??? when stopping? I never venture where you go....Too scared....
It can take time to learn the limitations! Don't be too scared, you've got to destroy pots to learn those limits.
