  • Hello! Today I present to you an unboxing of the awesome Hover-1 Renegade electric scooter. There is a great backstory to this unit, which I will share in the future... For today enjoy the unboxing and some riding in the latter half of the video.
    All I can say is what an excellent scooter!! It has so much power thanks to the tandem 450w hub motors that operate at 54v. The nice 10 inch tires provide a superb sense of comfort and stability that you don't find in smaller solid tires.
    For the sharp among you, yes, this is my second Renegade. I'll make a video soon about that story!!!
    Here are some affiliate links to products I use successfully in the operation of this amazing and stout Renegade.

    It would be nice if we could hear what the scooter sounds like during the test ride instead of the music.

    Great video! Loved to see the Renegade in action. Does it have pretty extreme acceleration compared to other scooter?

      Thank you very much man! I have more videos to upload with the renegade soon!
      I've ridden most of the rental scooter brands, and then the renegade... and the renegade definitely pulls harder than any rental ive tried. I'm about 260 lbs, and I'd say 3 seconds to 18 mph (max).
      My favorite part is the torque to go up hills! I have yet to find a hill she won't wrench me up.
      If you can get it ~$400 to $500 I'd say a good deal.
      Most recently it has gotten cold here in Wisconsin, so I have been putting on warm gear and cruising some forest trails. For added challenge I go after dark with a good flashlight mounted. The two wheel drive pulls you up hills like a buick, even if it's on slippery forest debris.
      Also, I did have an issue with an error code, and I'm not joking when I say their customer service shipped me a brand new scooter at no cost when I had an issue.
      Fantastic budget scooter!!!

    I'm working off of a 450W budget scooter from "Superfun" and definitely struggling on hills thinking of getting this to tackle the hills that are on my campus.
    But that begs the question, how is acceleration on hills and how is the breaking? (Been almost hit a couple of times on my current scooter because the idea of right of way is somehow foreign to many drivers) I definitely need some power to get up hills, but don't want it too strong if it does not mean I can stop quick if I need to.
    for reference I'm about 200lbs even school bag included.
    Edit: while im at it how often do the tires need to be aired up? my current scooter has honeycomb tires and there are a lot of bumps/ potholes that I have to avoid along with construction. wondering how durable and absorbent the wheels and suspension are.

      The acceleration on hills is great. There's always enough power to resume going up a hill, even from a dead stop. With your weight, it'll be even better than I've experienced.
      The brakes are decent.... but I must say that I find myself constantly adjusting the tension for the single rear brake. Somehow its diffucult to find that balance between good braking and too much audible brake squeel. The scooter does slow you down pretty well with electronic braking in both wheels, but stopping quickly could mean skidding at the rear wheel.
      With that being said, I've never found myself wishing there was more brake than available in a given moment. It is funny how cars just assume they have the right of way, or that a pedestrian may be traveling faster than a walk! Glad they were only almost hits.
      As for the tires and suspension, I find the wheels need airing up roughly once a month. I did have a failed innertube once which I replaced with a higher quality one, which was pretty easy. It may have been my fault though from riding with low psi. The tires are also pretty thin, wearing out the rear after 6 months of albeit daily heavy riding.
      The suspension is just in the rear, but the large tires make for a very smooth ride. Only really large bumps or obstacles are even noticeable. Waaay more comfortable than a rental scooter!
      Thanks for watching and good luck finding your new scooter!!

    Seems like 450 watt motors with a 54 v battery youd get a higher top speed. Is there a secret mode to unlock? Just feel like it should have a lot of torque too

      @InTECHsity  Před 7 dny

      I'm sure it would go way faster if it wasn't limited... it's hits the 18mph limit quick! Definitely alot of torque.
      There likely is a wire you can cut somewhere, but I've never seen anyone do it. If I had to guess maybe it would go 25-28 unlocked. I will look into this!

    Nice unboxing and ride there! I do have one question: How is the range with this? It's $379 on their website, and I'm interested, but without range details I'm nervous about pulling the trigger.

    • @InTECHsity
      @InTECHsity  Před 6 měsíci

      Thank you!! I appreciate you viewing :) The range for me with probably 300lbs total load, at max throttle and performance, is about 15 miles. If I take it slower and have breaks in-between, could probably get near 20 miles. $379 is definitely a great deal! keep in mind that it doesn't have any fancy features, and unfortunately some gimmicky ones like the lights on the bottom and maybe the worst Bluetooth speaker ever... but with both motors pushing out 450w a piece, it is hands down way better than any rental experience I've had. Id say its worth it unless a lower powered, but higher quality scooter would be your preference.
      Also, be confident in their support! I had a tiny problem with mine and they just shipped a brand new scooter instead of diagnosing, or tying to have me fix it. could be a one off but for me, the faith was cemented in this beast of a Renegade.

    Thx,btw, the dual drive mode, can you choose front only, back only or both wheels?

    • @InTECHsity
      @InTECHsity  Před 5 měsíci +2

      You're welcome!! It's either front wheel drive or both. There is a toggle button on the left side.

    Nice review, Any issues with the scooter since posting video?

    • @InTECHsity
      @InTECHsity  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Thank you!! Since posting the scooter has been great! I think a weak point is the inner tube and tires, but maybe that's typical for air tire scooters. But it's easy enough to work on if you do need to swap a tire or tube.
      Have a great day!
