Hansen really did well, I hope he keeps playing in tornements he really shows alot of potential
No other GM can match the sheer quantities of Alpha and Chad he brings to the game. The appeal to fans is unquestionable
@@LoLXaxziminrax ehhmm... Ben Finegold?
Thanks for spoiling lol
@@parrotcanary6605 bro you never read the comments before watching the vid
@@adrian16281 It's easy to confuse the combination of Alpha and Chad for raw Sex Appeal, of which Finegold is the GOAT. But he is so much the latter instead of the former.
Hey levy, just wanted to say this was a great recap. You never fail to be engaging and make the games exciting. Thanks for making content
potential pin of positivity
Pin of cringey overused comment
PIN OF SHAAAAAME. Oh wait.
Yeah agreed good pace to that recap, really useful to see his style!
Pin of Fame?
Gotham’s “What’s worth more than a queen” speech must be preserved in all of eternity. I’d share it with aliens if I could
Sometimes it’s hard to tell whether Levy is doing an analysis of a line that didn’t happen or an analysis of the line that actually occurred
imagine getting the pin of shame for this ..
I had this problem when I started to watch recaps content .. not gonna lie I was barely able to keep up with the real game . my only suggestion is to focus on his words .(sometimes he says something before playing an external line like "I guess . mayne magnus saw , this move threatens this. something between those line )
@@blackisanxious7178 pin of shame?
Pin of Shame is not a chess move. Not pinning like that. It’s when Levy pins a comment.
If u watch closely u can see the mouse make the moves that did not occur
OMG, I watched this on 50% speed, and it was much better.
The analysis was paced for me to understand more easily, and Levy comes across as drunk, which is hilarious.
🤣 Currently trying this and it is beyond hilarious
hahaha tried it and it was soooooo good. Levy sounds like a drunk old man !!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That’s hilarious im Ngl
Especially 14:25 when he burps
19:33 this is to funny
Nice recap levy, just a suggestion: when you have a knockout phase, u could post de tournament diagram before and after the recap. I think that would be a great add to the recap. Love ur content :)

Hi Levy, I wish you the best for becoming a grandmother! It's a real big achievement if you do so best of luck.
I dunno, a lot of people think he's destined to remain an international mother
Wish him to find his grandfather
Wow he married like 2 months ago and he is already a grandmother. Incredible
The road to Grandmother from International Mother is very arduous. Much more than from Fide Mother to International Mother
So does that make magnus the great grandmother?
Only Dubov knew that Magnus would play so well with the Catalan
Also being an Endgame Wizard helps too
Catalan is like the last weapon to open for Magnus like on a game, where you open it last and use it only in the final mission because you can not pass that mission with other weapons. It felt like that, thank God opening wizar Dubov helped endgame wizard Magnus.
The thing with the catalan unlike other things , the advantage of white isn't huge but it is forcing . It is an actuall advantage and with the great play of magnus black really does not get a lot of chances to equalise and ending the pressure by going to a slightly worse endgame is like resigning against magnus
Fun fact: Magnus said he wanted to learn Catalan bc he was never comfortable with playing down a pawn in the past, and proceeded to tell "and who other than dubov could have helped me in that".
@@shahin9820 and now magnus plays gambits down a pawn for fun 😄 even magnus can improve at chess I wonder if he really can hit 2900
Things everyone knows, but what else can you say? Magnus is just... really good.
No he is a liar and a thief! He STOLE hikarus line and his thunder!

This homeless norwegian chess player is pretty good, maybe he should consider to play some tournament.

“Magnus and the Three Russians” is a hell of a band name
I gotta say after a long and stressful day "You are worth more than a queen" hits extra hard
Aw damn, feel bad for Ding. Was hoping he'd pull through!
Great recaps as always Levy, thank you.
yeah but i mean it would kinda be unfair on the other players if ding basically wins the tournament in his sleep but hope he finds his moment to shine
“Magnus Carlson is REALLY GOOD”
Insights from the esteemed International Master Levy Rozman, circa 2022
I feel kind of bad for Hansen, I was hoping he would go one more round after having such an amazing start to the tournament.
Something tells me after his performance in this tourney, we'll see more from him in the future.
He was rated WAY below the average. To top-8 is a huge accomplishment.
I hope he wins his next super tournament (classical) lol
tournamnets like these give people the motivation to become better hope we see hansen a lot more in classical tournments
Levy's recaps have become better than the real thing at this point.
Breezy, funny and udnerstandandable.
Much love my G
i disagree, for instance watching it live wondering if ding will find the winning move at those times is far more exciting. its a great event to watch live when you got time but yeah im also just following most of the tournaments thanks to levys recaps
You kinda have 69 likes
Damn autocorrect really left you out to dry with that “understandable”
Actually I noticed it right away after posting, but left it anyway to keep things interesting
"Magnus and the three Russians!!" With Magnus its definitely a grim fairy tale. Tough matches for Ding and Eric. Are we looking at a rematch of the World Championship!? Thanks for the great recap - super tournament!
They were unlucky ,, one major mistake and they lost a big advantage
A second before Magnus sacked his queen I had a flashback to when he sacrificed against Anish for the three pieces. And I had a feeling he was gonna take the knight
There's just something about your personality and the way you talk about these games that's fucking amazing and so captivating. This is the most engaging chess content out of all the big CZcams names. Plus I just like your voice, you're so fun to listen to in addition to the great chess coverage. So glad I am subbed to you Gotham! Keep up the great work my mans.
🤔
Gotham, I know you'll probably never see this but I wanted to tell you how I played an INSANE game today. I scored 95.5% accuracy with the black pieces and had no inaccuracies and my worst move was a good move. Everything else was a book move or better than a good move. I am not 1400 yet, but I got to 1382 thanks to that game. I credit it all to you, since you're the only chess CZcamsr I watch, and I just wanted to thank you!
Who cares lol
Let's gooo
Good for you
I care, Emmet! Good for you, keep it up!
Niiiice job
I think it's possible that Magnus could've had it in his notes but I think he played it because of Hikaru.
Hikaru's return to classical chess represents a revival of his love of the game and you gotta love the game to keep improving at it.
I would attribute Hikaru's recent success to that renewed love of the game and I think Magnus recognized that and was inspired to play that line as a result.
I just love your recaps, literally the only ones i can follow while being completely in focus for the whole time
Thank you, Levy, for the diamond @ 17:10. Made me smile even more, a nice start to the day. 😊
continued unparalleled excellence Levy, information so dense it takes hours to fully absorb, yet your summarily style is very absorbable I get a great sense of Carlson's effortless genius and Liren's fatal mis-steps.

Can u please put up the scoreboard on the sides like u did in the past tomorrow. I really thought they looked good and I liked seeing the head to head scores. Keep up the good work

These tournament recaps are always so good. Thank you for the time, effort, and energy you put into every single one. If you'd told me in 2019 that what I was missing in life was UFC-style commentating for chess matches...well, I probably would have agreed--but I wouldn't have thought I'd ever get it.
17:09 god damn, never been so wholesome and I’ve been watching all his old vidoes
I love how my guy covers multiple games. This length is basically perfect for my gym cardio session on the bike for 40 minutes!
That metal beer cap sounded like a Miller High Life top you ain't foolin me Levy.
Regards from Argentina Levy! Thanks for your instructional videos, you've helped me improve a lot!
Those Esipenko, A4 pawn pushes has actually helped expand a lot of my white games.. that space can change games....
Literally 3 minutes ago I checked your channel thinking "did I miss the recap?" You read my mind bro
Levy's intros are as entertaining as the recaps. Hope we get an episode 2 on the origins of the bottle-cap.
Loved the story title "magnus and the three Russians"
Great recaps as always. Thanks for the consistent vids.
Top vocab, jokes and timing dude
Thank you for always making these recaps, without any exceptions. Keep up the good work!
Gotham chess is also really good at chess and commentary
Great recap thanks Levy!
I love that Levy called out people for Pin of Shame hunting.
When klay thompson was asked why he shot the ball in a situation he never should at the end of the game, he said something along the lines of “that’s what I do”
Probably a similar analogy to the question asked @5:53
Eric was hands down the most exciting player in this tournament, truly inspiring!
Have you changed your camera or is it light? It looks as it is in higher quality Pog
Thanks for the recap man watched the games live but to be honest didn’t understand the moves till seeing your recap
loved the poetry around the 17th minute
17:14 my guy just stopped to drop a 30 seconds speech, legend.
Hey Levy, where do you get your hoodies?
Traveling to another time zone could be a life changer for Ding Liren during online tournaments [SFMBE]

that "what's worth more than a queen" took me out of the blue. you're an excellent entertainer, you should be proud.
That was a better speech than most politicians I've heard at around 17:45ish. Gotham for President '24?
Interesting games today!
Hope Ding gets more rest and adjust the time difference to get back to normal sleep schedule:)
But he did play quite well at first, keep going! 😀 💪 ✨
Thanks for this Entertainment Levy! I watch your videos like every day and go to bed with a smile.
The first Magnus game reminded me of Capablanca...
darn i wanted to see hansen in the final
I always (well, almost always) watch the WHOLE thing! Because these are SO GOOD. Thank You, from NH!
Levy: why is the grass green, the sky blue?
Levy has now made 3 videos in a row about magnus carlsen. His crush on magnus is undisputed now.
I love that I know very little about chess but I still love these videos😂
You guys should see the ufc match between chael and Anderson. The one Levy was referencing.... Damn good one... Worth you time
how do i know "WHY" a move is good when the engine says it's a top move?
Depends on the position
Imagine Ding playing in the right time zone. He would be able to unleash his true power
Levy, you've been at these high levels. Is it that hard to play 25 minutes for these GMs? I just ask because at my level, it's hard seeing a game where someone's in trouble at 10 minutes. Is it just a matter of thinking fewer moves ahead?
A mistake at low levels is not that bad because they also make mistakes but at higher levels they know how to punish mistakes so it’s hard because you don’t want to make a mistake because you know you will be punished
i'm not sure i understood the question entirely, but the difference between rapid and classical is huge in GM games. Analysing the position and calculating, when you are this good, can take 30+ mins. Just look at Grischuck as an example, he frequently have a 40+ min move in a classical game. ofc you can't do this here.
@@Wlept I was thinking the other way around. Like, when you play mostly classical, does rapid or blitz change the moves you play or just how much you think about the moves you play?
@@DukesAPG it also affects the move you play. In rapid, a GM can try to attack or sacrifice a bit more 'cause finding the perfect defense/refutation might be really tough in 15min games, while in classical the opponent could think forever and refute your sacrifice. Doesn't mean that they randomly sac and attack obviously, but it's likely to happen a bit more i think
I am trying to get the pin of shame, but the only thing I can come up with is that the bottlecap might be dangerous to your puppy if he chews on it and I wish you and your puppy the best luck and a long lasting friendship in life together. May you bring each other joy and may he be the best boy to ever wag his tail on planet earth.
That's not pin of shame worthy, is it? Sorry, I just can't. Like I can't keep blundering my queen. As a 1800 rated player. Yeah. It happens. We're all just trying to learn this insanely complex game and I'm so greatful that Levy gives free chess lessons daily. We're blessed, let's bless him with a great community.
Also I'll never get pinned. But whatever. I'm here for the chess, not the pin of shame, although I find it quite funny at times, and I know I shouldn't laugh at butthurt people who write comments that are full of dog poop, but eh, that's life. There'll always be those people and people like you who took the time to read through this entire comment just to be complimented now. You are awesome and I love you! Good luck on the board and have a great time playing this awesome game!
Nothing is better than Levy pointing out all these beautiful pawn positions
Great review, great dramatic delivery, what's not to like?
your commentary on being a valuable viewer got to me levy, aha, love you too. Love your recaps :D
Esipenko in beast mode vs Hansen.
Like the fast pace it’s great
The "better than a queen" speech really threw me off. Very nice xD
Every pressure is in the magnus carlsen
if the bottlecap is used once to cap a bottle and again as a noisemaker, is it a recap?
You're just brilliant at your off-the-cuff commentary and statements. It's hilarious.

Usain Bolt was really fast
Michael Jackson could really dance

I'm 2000 and I kept my mouth shut. That conversation made me think 1200 is already decent compared to average casual people.
@@alsy0055 bruh 1200 is enough to win to any casual player, we are not talking about people who play/played on the street or a club, but casual players
@@mariomoneta2833 Maybe... But I'm a casual player and have never played on street or any tournament, and I'm rated 1600... So I guess there might be many "casual" players who are above 1500. In that case, 1200 might still seem below average.
