“you moved 4 states over and your house still got no windows” is definitely up there as some of the best commentary Levy has ever provided

I laughed so damn hard after that one that my belly is still aching lmfao

just crushing, Magnus is an unstoppable force 😯

You can say it's just Magnus effect but honestly to find all the tricky moves to make completely lost position into a win vs a GM being down 30 seconds to 4minutes is just beyond insanity
But not due to Magnus being so ingenious more to the other dude blundering his position away with 3:30 more time. Against Magnus you only win by making very few to no mistakes and playing consistently good moves.
@@ThirdLife86 i got your point, Magnus made some mistakes in the game that was not ingenious, but his ability to out calculate a Grandmaster having 4 times less time was. Also you could argue Magnus has never won because of him being brilliant, just his oponents made mistake and miscalculated at some point and he took advantage, cause chess played with no mistakes is just a draw 🤷

The last game, I can only imagine how it must have felt like when you're mostly certain that you're winning against someone of that caliber. I think anxiety struck that boy.
Yep, when humans play psychology is always a factor, even though the game is quite mathematical.
Fun fact: the word "magnus" in Latin directly translates to "great" or "large", so his name translates to "The Great Carlsen"
Huh. That explains why he's such a grandmaster at chess.
what did you translate that from?? "The Magnus Carlsen?"
yes I was shocked too when I learned this
@@bene2451 Latin actually has no words for "a" "an" or "the". Also "Great Carlsen" doesn't sound as nice.
The latin word "Magnus" also evolved into the French word "Magne" as in "Charlemagne" which in Latin is "Carolus Magnus" Carolus > "Charles" in English and "Karl" in German. So the name "Magnus Carlson" is almost a sort of play on son of Charlemagne with some words swapped round.

Dear Levy,
I wanted to take a moment to express my appreciation for your excellent chess content on CZcams. Your passion and enthusiasm for the game are contagious, and your instructional videos have been instrumental in helping me improve my own skills.
I particularly enjoy your analysis of professional games and your breakdown of complex positions. Your insights are always informative and illuminating, and your ability to convey your ideas in a clear and concise manner is truly impressive.
Thank you for all that you do to promote and advance the game of chess. Your contributions to the community are invaluable, and I look forward to continuing to learn from you in the future.

New favorite commentary from Lev: "You move from one house four states over... You still got no windows!" 😆
Levy the milkman, milkin' Magnus as usual, and we love it
Go away Yeaman
lmao
Goat milk is the new rage
i mean there's no chess youtuber that doesn't cover magnus content
Aren’t we so lucky that Levy shares Magnus’s milk with us
I love these longer shows of yours, any of them with Magnus is saved straight to my Best of Gotham Playlist.
The commentary about the black bishop from 13:40 on got a genuine laugh out of me. Good work Levy, love your stuff.
“It’s a free roll basically” love how Levi is incorporating poker terms in chess
When Magnus plays against ChatGPT , ChatGPT takes its own bishop to pay respect .
Magnus is like Tiger Woods in the late 90s/early 2000s. He might be down a few strokes heading into Sunday, but the leaders would inevitably fall apart as they heard crowds cheering 3 holes away where Tiger simply hit amazing shot after amazing shot.
“You move from one house, four states over, and you still have no windows.” 13:46 😂😂😂😂😂
No one can narrate chess better than levy!
The PCL is so much fun to watch. 4 straight days of chess for 5 weeks, each day has 32 games featuring 16 different chess players from all over the globe with great commentary. This is the chess version of NCAA's March Madness. Looking forward to more great recaps.
i really love how levi builds suspense without spoiling the final outcome. This whole video was like watching a mini super bowl. :)
Amazing how Danya was able to hold on for so long. Just shows how strong he also is. Just so happens he is facing Magnus.
That last game though... I can hear Professor Oak now. "You were close!"
"You cannot stop an avalanche with a horse" -Levi 2023
Hey man, going through a tough time right now and your videos are helping me through it!! Thanks a lot!
I love how Levy honestly says what he do for views and repeat that process
I watched this I couldn’t believe it. Magnus is so resourceful. Going 4-0. Goat.
“Starts with d4 pawn” Hikaru= Mate in 37
The bishop from 19:31 was literally:
I guess I'm a knight now
Just being magnus already exerts a lot of pressure that the opponent would be nervous and make inaccuracies.
I find it admirable that Levi manages to keep his commentary on matches balanced between being objective and colored through his own opinions, considering how the fame that has come to him and his channel has brought many eyes to him; comparable to that of a mainstream media outlet, making him a ‘centerpiece’ of the chess community,(pun intended) and how his influence has a major impact on people’s opinions especially to those who are new to the chess community and are quite impressionable.

Thank you for the all the content. Your content has been a good learning experience on how to present chess to the masses. I hope you keep doing it and keep promoting Chess and other Variants(Especially Fischer Random). :)
You can tell how much pressure magnus carlsen puts on opponents just by the time alone
This was the best non movie I have ever watched! Magnus is just on an other world at this point.
The feelings of playing Magnus are: "How do you shoot the Devil in the back? What if you miss?"
He's coming.
Hi,
I love your videos and you're one of the only chess youtubers I follow because of how entertaining you are and the pace of your videos. I'm ADHD and easily distracted. Not with your videos.
Tho, I know you're busy and have a team and pretty much everything you post is already planned, I would like to have more information about the players in the decription of the video.
I don't know the opponent and would like to learn about them but there's no link or info about them in the description.
I don't know if you'll be able to read my comment but eh, I'm trying anyway.
Thank you for your amazing work!
Your unique capacity for very entertaining storytelling is outstanding. Thank you!
I do recommend hikaru's video for this one.. cause he just talked about the last game and it was fantastic
10:05 he's talking about Skip Bayless here LOL

That last round reminds of an anime character letting their opponent power up.
When Stockfish is a good idea if there was better moves, when I use it post game in my 700 it is assuming my opponent plays massively differently, The Ai upset I refused to trade queens, both in starting position, I later got their queen for free when they hung it. Trading really is pointless below 1k because ignored pins happen all the time. So long you keep pressure you can exploit mistakes. Even if in higher Elos it wouldn't work.
this magnus guy is pretty good. i think he can have a fairly good career in chess
I agree, he might get gm title if he plays well for a while
Gotham should make a tutorial on how to beat Li, the 2000 rated bot, just like he did with nelson, because im 840 rapid and she beats me really easily and also beats my 1360 rated friend, but i beat the 1800 rated bot Wally, so i think the skill gap between Wally and Li is really large so it would help a lot of us out
I feel like every bot feels like a massive step up when you beat the previous bot. Nelson was doing me in for a while, When I finally beat him, the 1500 bot then became impossible. Its a bit of an adjustment period, however I agree a video on it would be good.
The skill gap between them is huge. You can beat wally easily with dubious openings like the halloween gambit, Li however requires solid play. I've gotten a winning position against her with the Sicilian Defence, but a rushed pawn move in the end game ruined it. KID works too but incredibly spicy against 2k rated.
Just be solid against Li. She loves to attack and a lot of times will play dubiously.
She missed a mate in 3 against me...
@@beastgamer504 Li chooses to extend suffering, that's what makes her stand out from the others. It was a choice.
19:30 bishop be like : i identify as a knight
The bishop that blundered, become the unexpected hero
3 Million close! Looking forward to that stare analysis which you promised to do at 3 Million Subscribers.Congrats on good Growth and as always Awesome Content!
In the last game when Magnus was down to a bishop and the white rook was on b5 I think Rb4 would have been stronger. It ties all Black's pieces to the queen's side. If black tries to push the a pawn, white plays c4, cutting off the bishop and allowing Ra4 next move. So black needs to defend the pawn with the bishop and also forces the black king to protect the b pawn. That leaves white with 3 pawns and a king against 1 pawn on the king's side.
So black needs to use 3 tempi to protect everything before it can free up the bishop whilst white is advancing on that isolated black pawn on f6.
"You move states over and still got no windows" is 🤣
Thanks Gotham , loved this video , i really appreciate your passion for the love of chess , i will never forget how you committed multiple vehicular homicides in the year of 2008 while drunk in the san-francisco bay area. keep it up

Excited for this to evolve. There should be a handicap like the APA (billiards league). E.g. Max team ELO of 10,000 to prevent having 3 Super GMs and a high WGM.
I like how this video is all magnus instead of 5 games with only one of them being magnus. It's just so addictive to see if his dominance is still ticking.
