Another Sonic the Hedgehog game for ya! Sonic CD Lost Bits!
Hey guys, welcome to LOST BITS! Where I will cover unused and unseen things in various games! In this video we explore Sonic's first CD appearance: Sonic CD, and take a look at some of its unused and unseen content! This game has unused sprites, objects and sounds as well! As with the previous Sonic games I've covered, this game also has a debug mode with more stuff to discover! Hope you enjoy the video! :D

@2:59 amazing that this was glanced over as we now know that it was actually one of sonics powers that even sega forgot; where sonic sneezes when he senses danger (like a spiderman spider sense thing), which is also seen in the opening animation.
Really wish they brought it back, it was cool that he could sense danger but a sneezes forces your eyes closed so it's not overpowered.

3:06 the sprite animation was used in tidal tempest when sonic was running against the fans in the water.
I noticed this when I was playing sonic CD, when I was running against a fan there is 1 pixel frame of sonic doing this animation. I believe it was scrapped because they decided instead of sonic running against the fan he would be pushed back when he interferes with the blowing. And if your looking for that 1 frame you need good eyes to see it.

As a kid I somehow deleted a file from my official sonic CD pc disc, every time after you put it in (even to this day) you can install it fine, but it will treat it as an illigal copy and put that creepy face and song. As a kid this scared me to no end, since everything was legitimate and I even paid for it back then. It was like I was being punished for buying the game.
I have no idea how I did it and I got another copy that works now, but still... I've got to wonder what I deleted to get it to happen...

Kinda annoyed at past me all those years ago. Its a Eu version too. Last time I attempted to run it was 2011, it installed fine but when you run it....

You just deleted a Simple License Check File, i can even say what file you need to create on the CD to make it work.
Create a empty SONICCD.CHK file on the CD.

The creepy one was supposed to be super silly and comedic using to boss theme but the change in theme between Japanese and English made it seem more creepy
english used the jpn ost it is the us ost that makes it creepy

The Windows 9x version was actually my first Sonic game, kinda wish I still had it but I gave it to friend a long time ago. The remade version is still good and all, but the physics are slightly different and a few tricks aren't possible. A bit jarring because there is a few spots where it was obvious the game was designed to let you build up time travel speed but you can't do it in the remake.
They also runied the Us version of stardust speedways race

To answer the question "why would someone make this?" --- it was sega's way of punishing those who pirated the game; where after a certain point; i think after the bos fight for the first level in act 3; that very image would pop up; and the player would not be able to proceed further; rendering said illegal copy unplayable. @7:10

That "Yeah" SE was used in the port of the game used in Sonic Gems Collection for the GameCube... at least I'm pretty sure it was that clip specifically... I just know there was a "Yeah" SE when you got an extra life for sure tho

Actually you can see the final fever text by installing a complete save file level select (all it does is make a “complete” save file give you a zone select) and then uninstalling the mod when a save file is at a complete status, and then you can see the text. Trying to load it crashes the game tho.

The sound of "something being shot" at 2:10 sounds like the speed boosters from Stardust Speedway as well as the spikes ball hazards. This is from the Mania version, though. Not sure if the sounds exist in the original Sonic CD version

The ”see you next game” with Tails is probably the team foreshadowing that Tails will be in the next game and that he has vehicles aka the Tornado. Maybe they were thinking of Tails having a car instead? The team WAS working on Sonic 2 with this game.

3:00 That Sonic Sneezing sprite was meant for a cut scene or possibly that user BMF54123 from the cutting room floor article Saying something about that Sonic Sneeze sprite was originally planed to be for that Moth like enemies dropping that sparkle things. Possibly removed because it would've made people angry and gotten annoying.

Fun Fact: The metallic madness rap actually came back in metallic madness act 1 and 2 in sonic mania, act 1 has the past version as its instrumental with sonic singing while act 2 has the bad future and egg man singing, it’s pretty cool!
3:00 This most likely was supposed to be an animation for when Eggman is nearby because I believe in the sonic manga when Sonic sneezed it was when danger was nearby hope this answers the question of why this animation exists 🙂
