    Great video! Beautiful Dalarna will forever be in my heart.
    Btw, just a recommendation, if you ever visit Uppsala... I would recommend you visit Gamla Uppsala, where there is an old stone church, old viking mounds and an open air museum. An amazing place!

      Thank you so much! And that's actually a brilliant idea... I need to read up on what to explore in Uppsala and get over there one of these weekends. Thanks for the tip - really appreciate it! :D

    Lots of viking remnants around Siljan btw. Swords and boats. And there’s a possible find That’s the oldest remanant of human activity in Europe, older than 40 000 years old, on Mårtensön in Orsasjön.

      That's pretty amazing! I guess that the conditions around Orsa are good for preserving things - because that's truly an old find!

    I would only buy a Dalarna horse if and when I visit the area where it originated from. I heard it told that fathers would carve these horses and paint them for their children when they were away from home and logging. I have found knackerbrod in a Scandanavian food store we have here in western Canada and in IKEA. I wonder why people can’t make their own because we learned to make princess cakes, Thursday baked peas, flavoured thinly sliced raw salmon, Swedish meatballs in a Swedish cooking class I took many years ago?

    • @ThreeStarVagabond
      @ThreeStarVagabond  Před rokem

      I think one problem about baking knäckebröd is the flour that's needed. I've heard that many countries (e.g the US) have some difficulty in getting more coarse less-processed flour. But I wouldn't really know... But yes absolutely, it makes perfect sense to only buy the traditional item from its originating point! It just feels a bit... Cheap otherwise...

      Really happy to hear that! It's probably going to be even more beautiful now in summer then - even though I found the winter scenery absolutely gorgeous as well :D

    You should have went during summer instead of during the winter. Its during summer time you really get to see the true beauty of dalarna

    Great Travel Video!
    I'm a swedish citizen myself but I have never explored this region around Siljan, Sweden in depth. Great with some historical perspective and to get to see the traditional aspect of this region. Like the making of Dalecarlian horses. I think the people living in this part of Sweden is really kind and quite traditional. They have some proud tradition for sure!
    I like that we get the good nature-shots in this video like the shots of Siljan from a high-view, the waterfalls and the animals there in the predator park. You mention the good details verbally too combining visuals with interesting facts and good historical perspective. The good thing is the *variation* you show here and speak about and the epic journey into this region in the middle of Sweden in general.
    Can it be more "Swedish" than this?
    I can attest to your thinking as I'm living pretty close to this region of Sweden myself. I know of the people, the traditional music, the Dalecarlian horses and so on but only on the surface. Sometimes I join some folk music festivals to just be amazed by the "skill" of these traditional people. It's like they *know* something most people don't. They have their sincere ways but to them you also have to be responsible.
    I mean this great culture didn't emerge by chance!
    Great Travel Video!

      And thanks for the link as well - I'll definitely read all about your adventures :D

    What a beautiful place, can't beat those countryside views. Must be really cold for that lake to freeze solid like that. Looks amazing as the sun is setting. The water fountain look great with the icicles around it.

    I really enjoyed this video and the sights. It looks beautiful. Great that they still paint those horses by hand. Do you still only use a smartphone for shooting, because the footage looks excellent.

    • @ThreeStarVagabond
      @ThreeStarVagabond  Před 2 lety

      Thank you so much! Haha, I had so much luck with the weather and the lighting...and the scenery I guess. But I actually upgraded to a DJI Pocket 2 for filming - it's pretty sucky in high contrast settings but the colours in normal light turn out great. Trying to slowly learn how to improve my filming :)

    • @AmsterdamComicGeek
      @AmsterdamComicGeek Před 2 lety +1

      @@ThreeStarVagabond The footage looked good. Smart to upgrade, smartphones are pretty limited. I am considering buying a camcorder to shoot some stuff with. Optical zoom and an extra mic. But I haven't decided yet.

      @@AmsterdamComicGeek I think that's a good choice. I really miss a good optical zoom (I just have like 2x on the Pocket 2). But I love the small form factor and wide angle lense... Always some pros and cons

    I hope everyone understands that once you start drilling for oil, metals and gas, the whole area will be toxic and ruined. I hope everyone knows that. Don’t wish for it.

    • @ThreeStarVagabond
      @ThreeStarVagabond  Před 2 měsíci

      I actually have a hard time how it would actually look once drilling was started - but I guess that it does make sense that it would ruin this fantastic landscape :/
