  • It would be difficult to say what THE greatest guitar intro to any song would be, but I'd put John Fogerty's name in the race. There are so many CCR songs that have incredible intros -- so memorable that you recognize them after only just a few beats.
What's a common guitar technique that these great guitar players like John Fogerty, Sam Andrew (of Janis Joplin), Richie Sambora (of Bon Jovi) and many others use? They often use harmonized sixes. In this video guitar teacher Blue Morris will teach you how to use sixes in your own rhythm guitar playing, solos, and more. When you understand how sixes harmony works, you can use them quickly and easily.

Dude CCR has some amazing songs. Fogerty might not be the best or flashiest guitarist but man can he play some good sounding stuff

I’ll say it again. You’re a very accomplished guitarist/teacher. Excellent subject in just the right bite-size. Very clear, articulate and enthusiastic. Very well done. Thanks very much.

Good choices. I would also add "Green River" to the list. My fave CCR song. However, and someone already mentioned this but I think "Johnny B Goode" has the all time king of guitar intros. IMHO

Just discovered your channel. Great lesson. Although I've been using 6ths I never queried why the change of shape as you ascend & of course, its because of the half tone between the E & F. Understanding this makes it so much easier to work out the shapes. Thanks. I've just subscribed!

Oh man I´ve just got another huge lightbulb moment. I didn´t really know how to use these harmonized sixes but now i got it. Thank you for that lesson!
My favorite guitar intros are "Lodi" from John Fogerty, of course😉and "Beast of Burden" (Rolling Stones) but there are countless others right?🎸

Dear Blue, my all time favorite intro is Chuck Berrys Johnny Googe. For me it is the essence of Rock 'n Roll. Greetings from Germany, Dietmar. PS you are great☺️

Thanks! The intro to Brown Eyed Girl is thirds, but in the verses you can hear loads of sixes. I'm planning on doing a video on those verses soon. I have a complete lesson on the theory of these double stops on our Patreon group www.patreon.com/guitarlessonsvancouver

    • @GuitarLessonsVancouver

That is tricky. At it's very least, just use the first lick -- the first three stops. That's most common. The theory behind it all is not as important as being able to play it. Maybe learn the intro to Fortunate Son, that will help too.
