      I'd just highlight the inclusion of MRob's hit on Minny's safety. If I'm not mistaken, Michael has asked that it not be shared. I'd maybe take that out of this one.

    That Illinois game cost Penn State a national championship even though they won. Paterno called off the dogs and put his 2nd string in for the 4th quarter. And Illinois came back to take the lead.

      It had nothing to do with Penn State's close call with Illinois --- it was simply the sports writers feeling sorry that Tom Osborne came close but never won a title whereas JoePa already had two --- in fact, the Cornhuskers called their 1994 season "Unfinished Business" because many people thought they deserved the title in 1993 despite barely losing to Florida State --- so the coaches and writers decided Old Tommy needed a nice retirement gift because he was such a loveable guy like JoePa --- EVERYONE knows PSU would've destroyed the Huskers on the field --- that is 100% fact and computer simulations of that matchup prove the Nittany Lions would be #1

    • @jmbuff1
      @jmbuff1 Před 4 lety +1

      @@billbelzek6748 To add further insult to injury, Nebraska would have even BETTER teams in 95 and 96, where they would win the national title in both those years as well. So in the end, they didn't really need the gift in 94.

    • @jmbuff1
      @jmbuff1 Před 4 lety +4

      I would argue the win against Indiana at home earlier in the season hurt them more. PSU was up 3 scores late and that is where Joe called off the dogs and had backups in. Indiana scored two late garbage time TD's to make it look close. It was after that week Nebraska and PSU switched 1 and 2 in the polls, and PSU never regained the top spot.
      In this Illinois game, PSU was behind until the very last drive, so of course the starters were never actually pulled from this game.

    Back when the white out game was for big games, OSU, Michigan. But under Franklin, because he can't win the big game, now the white out game is an easier opponent. Iowa and Minnesota the last two. When you have to schedule your signature big time event to ensure a victory because your coach can't beat top ten teams ... it's time for a new coach.

This is the legacy , this is Penn State, Franklin watch this and see what Penn State legacy really is. Top recruiting classes? Just fuccking win James, like they did before in the past. The most memorable moments happened in the showers during the Sandusky era and when they hired and continue to employ that thug James Franklin. The criminality that went on at Vanderbilt and now at Ped State is disgraceful. FIRE FRANKLIN NOW!!!!
