The 1994 season pissed me off so much --- everybody in the country knew Penn State was the clear #1 team that year --- but Nebraska was too chickenshit to play us in a bowl to determine the winner on the field, like real men do it
Lol I agree the team was easily the best. But PSU was locked into the Rose Bowl and Nebraska the Orange Bowl due to conference obligations. Nebraska played a shit game against a mediocre Miami team while PSU beat Oregon by three scores. The sportswriters were determined to F PSU over. PSU should've been #1 all year.
Penn State was #1 until the Indiana game....PSU up 35-14 with 2 minutes left. Paterno pulled starters and the Hoosiers scored two quick TDs in last minute. Final 35-29. Polls dropped PSU to #2 even though Kijana had 190 yards rushing that game and Kerry Collins had over 250 yrds. Polls have always been a joke and against the Lions tons of times
Nittany Lions 🦁 were number one, until Joe pulled the starters at Indiana, and a backup QB, Chris Dittoe threw two late touchdowns, because we knocked Trent Green out of the game!!! It still pisses me off, because voters around the country, only looked at the final score!!!! Ridiculous
Also, because of the controversy after the season, Vegas even had a spread if we could have played Nebraska, and our Nittany Lions 🦁 were 6 point favorites!!! Literally
Penn State was unbelievable that year and should have been the National Champions instead of Nebraska. I never realized that Joe Jurevicius had punting duties too.
It all comes down to injuries. Early season: PSU probably wins, especially at Happy Valley.], Midseason: Tossup. Late season/bowl game> Nebraska probably wins. They got stronger as the season went on.
Gene Stallings half time interview was so refreshing in contrast to modern coaches. His tone is very humble and he comes off honest and likable. No shameless self-promotion to be found. We need more men like this.
Worse ass kicking I can remember as a buckeye fan...sure there was Florida...Clemson...Michigan a few times as well but they didn't light us up w 63....big props to a great Penn St team that got ripped for a natty or at least a split w Neb that year...these guys killed everybody it was like a video game season and were the best team in the country in 94
I was at the game playing in the alumni band. It was a unique situation where they had the alumni band in front of the student section, normally they have them seated in front of the opposite end zone. We went out early, before the blue band came out, and started playing fight songs. It was unbelievable, a sea of pom-poms that was probably the initial evolution of the white out. One of the most thrilling experiences that I ever had. Later in the game i went up into the student section when it was a blowout and played sha na na na hey hey hey goodbye and the whole stadium was singing. Unreal.
Watching this game and team now, almost 30 years later, of course the offense gets all the love and it should they were exceptional but i forgot just how good this defense was. It didnt have any superstars or any top drawer players but they were a really tough defense. That dline was really damn good for a bunch of no-names. In this game against a really good (albeit 2 years away from dominating) o-line these guys continually got push, penetration and got off of their blocks in the run game. I havent watched this 1994 team in a while and decided to que a game up and that dline really stood out to me. Also a guy that needs mentioned is maybe the most underrated players in Penn State history, CB #34 Brian Miller, that guy was simply a gamer and had a nose for the ball and was tough.
penn state is national champs 1994 in my book, watching nebraska get demolished in the big ten makes me think they wouldnt have been undefeated in 1994 if they were in the big ten
This 94 Team only played the starters in the first half for the majority of the games. Because Joe Paterno didn't believe in humiliating your opponents and running up the score. And what did he receive for all that thoughtfulness? After this game he dropped from number one to number two in place of Nebraska. Then after he died they tore his statue down because they said he was such a monster.
@@drewp.weiner2473 you are correct sir, but I remember Jo pa in 1964 when I was a senior in high school. You know it took him 46 years to win two official national championships. I ended up getting a phd at Psu and taught there as a visiting prof in 1984/85. It’s a great place
This was 1994, Cooper wasn't fired from Ohio State until after the 2001 Outback Bowl. There was a lot of talk that he would've been fired that year if they lost to Michigan at the end of the season, but they won and that saved his job.
I mean, it shouldn’t be very satisfying. After 2011, it was a depleted PSU team under sanctions. If OSU didn’t beat them that bad, they would have to have been pretty mediocre.
Barely, did the scoreboard say my Nittany Lions 🦁 had more points than Michigan????? Lol That's what I thought!!!! WE ARE 🏈 Unrivaled I remember Kerry Collins throwing a frickin laser bullet to Bobby Engram to win, and Brian Miller, the All-American corner, picking a pass to seel the deal!!! Enough said, WE ARE!!!!
I love when the commercials are left in these. Watching the old commercials is almost more nostalgic than the games themselves!
you realize how much they have destroyed this country
Same
The commercials were an added bonus. Took me back to that time in my life. lol
Agreed...Love anything on youtube with old commercials. Its like a time machine. Its crazy that I still remember so many of them.
Learned history with that AK white house shooting too!
Penn state would have destroyed nebraska ...to me penn state are the 94 national champions...
Agree
Absolutely.
I still have this on a v.c.r tape. Much Love to the Nittany Lions from a Tide fan.
That is one great PSU offensive line.
I wish my 6th grade self would have appreciated this season more.
The 1994 season pissed me off so much --- everybody in the country knew Penn State was the clear #1 team that year --- but Nebraska was too chickenshit to play us in a bowl to determine the winner on the field, like real men do it

Back when they voted for national championships. This was a great team that got shafted
And the Big Ten was responsible for it.

No way. Nebraska had a much tougher schedule.

After getting manhandled at OSU in 93, this was the game that PSU team wanted most. And it showed. That 94 team was otherworldly
I had a Sideline Pass for this game great day 👍🏈👍
Kirk went on to take on the biggest college football broadcasting job available with ESPN so this is is his humble beginnings.

If it never happens again in my life at least we always have this game to remember as Penn St fans. They were the real champs in 1994.
That OSU team had so much talent, many went on to great NFL careers.
Yes and very talented PSU team as well!

Looking back on this, Stan Jackson was a poor man's Russell Wilson 💯
Good to go back and watch good penn state offense. The last ten years under Franklin have been brutal offensively
Trista Meioh aka Sailor Pluto's 19th Birthday a recent High School graduate now a College Freshmen.
Paterno could beat OSU/Michigan..top 10 opponents...my how times have changed with Franklin/staff.
i gonna be honest, college ball look alot better in the 90's than today. We are getting weaker

Penn State whooped our asses 💯
This is still the worst defeat in Ohio State football history!!! WE ARE 🏈 Unrivaled
I look back to this, year before I was born, and wonder if Penn State thought this was the beginning of them dominating the conference.
1:15:09 Engram one hands it! 1:25:36 Not to be outdone.. Mike Archie!
The final score could have been alot worse if Joe Paterno would have left the starter's in the 4th quarter I'm guna say 77 to 14 or 84 to 14
could say the same for 2013 could've scored 84-13 if braxton miller played the whole game

I vote PSU #1 and Collins for the Heisman.
Can you please find the Michigan State game from 1994?

I wonder why people compare Drew Allar to Hackenburg but leave out Kerry Collins ?
