I also have seen 0 overheating on the Thor driving a SF Mk2, its a great little vesc with tons of power and cooling.
Thanks Dado for the unbiased review, and working hard for the community especially working on the float app. It's our go-to app now for sure with the led support and the.amazing tuning options.
All: The switch on/off issue was on early units and production units should be good.
The leds will also be sold separately for people using 3d printed boxes.
what's the float app??? 🤣
Can confirm, the momentary switch works great on my unit!
I don’t agree with the ‘unbiased’ statement. We all love and appreciate Fungineers and Surf are doing for our community, but once you get parts for free and you are a regular Fungineers product tester, there will always be some bias and objectivity will fail.
@@devrim1134 by that logic there are no unbiased reviews then unless you do double blind testing. That will never happen in this tiny niche market
@@surfdado True, but maybe a Patreon system could work? Many are using this method to be objective as possible
"Granted it's winter, so it's only 60-70 DegF out..." that's a HARD CA flex!! lol love the deep dive, dado!
Thanks for this review! Great to hear how well it handles the heat.
Awesome review!
Arduino... if you have a 5v rail write your own small program ahd yse what ever light strips you like.. write a prog with a relay and you can step down the 62 -84 v to what ever you need. Thanks for everything you do surf
the cooling is fkin awesome 🎉
Great video, helps me confirm I am getting some great kit! Can you do some waterproofing tests? maybe hit a few big puddles?
I see vesc express as a future compatible functionality, it will be very useful for running packages separately of the motor control. Example: accessory control which is non-critical.
where can i find more out about that cnc battery box lol
I’m curious if you’ve run into the same heating behavior with the V2 Superflux that Auden mentioned. I haven’t installed mine yet, so I don’t have a sense of how it performs compared to the V1. Nice video Dado, thank you.
does the MK2 SuperFlux heat up faster than MK1? Yes, mainly because it doesn't include Statorade. So I'm guessing that some Clydesdales who ride trails / ride hard will eventually want to add Statorade to their motors. But the majority of users shouldn't really need it. We will know more come summer I guess...
🥳
After a few emails I was informed that I can just use the 12v/GND output from the lights to power regular "dumb lights" 2 Amps pr port
Nice video Dado. Curious to know on the floatwheel, it overheated the motor, the controller ? Or both ?
The controller is what overheats very easily on the floatwheel
Fun fact. Thor300 uses the same mosfets as floatwheel controller.
wonder if the little foccer 4 will use those nice mosfets
Im sure they will come up with a better system, competition is nice 🕺🏻
Have you tried the little focer 4 yet?
no, I have not. I don't even know any details about it yet, but makerspev did mention they wanted to send me one
@@surfdado so far seem Thor300 has the top thermo solution, love their focus on high torque and thermal.
