    This is still mind blowing no matter how many times I watch it. That vibrato is killer ❤❤❤( You really nailed the explanation of Freddie live vs. studio recording... power vs dynamics. ) Marc is an extremely talented artist... it is not easy to sing at the same time as playing a piano. His ability to "sound like Freddie" has been fine tuned with alot of hardwork to get it just right but the physiological has to be in place. Doesn't it make you wonder if he has two extra molars?😉😂😂😂😂😂

      @Julie Keesee, Marc actually said in an interview, the only thing he does to sound more like Freddie is add a bit of a British accent to match Freddie's. Everything else is natural.

      @@CalebColesMusic Marc Martel did a video called "How To Sing Like Freddie Mercury". In the video he does say that his sounding like Freddie has a lot to do with genetics. You can also tell that Marc has done a lot of research on how Freddie sounded when he first started and how he evolved and changed. I was surprised how much of the stuff you said, Marc also said in his video and he's not a voice coach nor has he ever taken lessons. @@CalebColesMusic, I believe it was both, most of the time, although Marc did do some by himself. Ask yourself how many reel to reel magnetic master tapes will be suitable for Dolby Atmos Surround Sound, which is what the movie uses. Now, add 35 years to the age of those master tapes. I've heard it was vocal layering, where they used Marc singing along with Freddie, then blended the tracks, to improve the quality for the songs they used in the movie.

    The point made at 3:30 is so important... Because I fully realize the work, skill and effort behind Marc's sound, but he do have the genetic disposition to sound like this and that is important. No matter how skilled trumpet player you are you cannot make a trumpet sound like a saxophone - the instruments are shaped differently and that gives them their different sounds. Same thing with voices... Marc's "instrument" - his resonance, jaw line, ect is similar to Freddie's, and you can even see that visually, and that gave him the capacity to sound like this (with training and effort)

    What you are watching is a musical unicorn. The performance of Bohemian Rhapsody sung as a solo by Freddie (on piano) does not exist. The song was written piecemeal and came together in the recording studio. I saw Queen perform on the Day at the Races Tour and Freddie started the song on the piano and by the time the 'opera' section begins the band had left the stage and it was tracked to a video. They returned to the stage for the 'rock' section and finale. What Marc has accomplished is stunning! Its a beautiful tribute to Freddie and Queen but also a staggering performance of voice and piano skills. The performance is very much a copy of the album version and yes, Freddie did not perform with those dynamics for many reasons. If Freddie was one of the great voices of rock...well it means that Marc is as well. He is a gifted singer/songwriter and hopefully he will get his time in the spotlight. Queen should have learned a lesson from Journey and hired Marc to front the band. Please review some of his other performances. Lastly, Marc does not pay me to make comments!!! :)

    I’ve seen about a dozen reactions to Bohemian Rhapsody by Marc Martel and I have to say your is my favorite by now. In an interview Rami Malek commented that Marc worked with them for the movie, I think he sing as Freddy on the life concert scenes. Also, he cannot reach Roger Taylor’s high pitch.... but it would sound weird if he wouldn’t sing those parts..... good job.

    • @papabearM3

      You are right. Marc did sing in the biopic. Rami didn't though. Not really. Marc recorded for the movie at the Abbey Road Studio. Marc sometimes does sing the Bb5 in the operatic section of BoRhap, the pitch Roger usually sang. Also, Marc tours with his Queen tribute band singing Queen's catalogue, but he doesn't sing "as Freddie." He doesn't pretend to be him. His voice naturally sounds like Freddie's.

    isnt your chair a lil bit low? I mean your right hand and elbow is suspended.... About the video, the only thing I can say about its that I was hoping him to reach the high note at 9:37, everything else is perfect :D

    So are u saying he is equal to freddy?? No difference? He doesnt sound exactly like freddy to me.

    • @alexdavis6578
      @alexdavis6578 Před 4 lety +6

      Maureen yes, he doesn’t sound EXACTLY like Freddie and it’s because Marc doesn’t want to. He’s stated many times that if he wanted to sound EXACTLY like Freddie he would but he wants to keep his own identity because he’s been compared to Freddie since 2000. He completely lost his career to Freddie but has now done the only thing he knows how to do and is doing it to the best that people want to hear while keeping himself in the video as well. You should watch his performances from his Germany tour from the past 2 weeks. Trust me it’ll shock you just as much as it’s shocked a lot of Marc fans who follow his tour videos.

      Technically speaking, Marc is a better singer and instrumentalist than Freddie ever was. However, both are spectacular in their own right. Both are gifted beyond gifted. And, no, Marc doesn't sound exactly like Freddie because he is not trying to imitate him. He did it in the biopic, just for the sake of the premise. They are sound-a-likes, their vocal tone is similar.

    I just don't understand how all these singers, songwriters, vocal coach & teachers, are not embarrassed at all, to always react , or judge, an artist, nearly 45 years, mostly, not to say always, on his covers ( imitations ?? ) of another artist.......⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️

      These ate not imitations since Marc naturally sounds the way he sounds. However, why should people be embarrassed to react to someone’s amazing cover/tribute?

      Oh, he most certainly did. _Girl In The World_ was written in 2015. And he is writing a new album as we speak! Hard to focus on writing when you tour at Marc’s pace! 130 concerts per year is 4x as many as Q+ did last tear. Plus, ask Brian May. He himself claims that he can’t write while touring! And we all know that Lambert’s material is written for him while he is asleep, by shadow writers!

      What does that matter? The FACT is that Marc HAS written songs since his last album and continues to write. His new album is due next year. Don’t get your knickers in a twist, darling!
