We need a scarifier/dethatcher next from ego. Great video! Ty
Yes! 100%
Thanks for someone finally doing a review on this commercial grade mower. I was pleased to see that self propel feature is much quieter than the retail consumer version of this mower. The consumer version self propel mechanism was really whinny so much that it was louder than the cutting motor.
Thanks Jason, now you say it, yes it is 👍🏼
I really like that mower, Ego sure makes great products
They do for sure, thanks Derra 👍🏼
Great video. I'm a jobbing gardener and I have owned an EGO LM100E (42cm NON self propelled) domestic grade mower for just over a year now and am delighted. A great many of my jobs are city gardens where the only access to the lawn is by walking through the house so the compact and lightweight qualities of the mower are greatly appreciated. Also I have a good many steps to negotiate on a number of jobs so, at the opposite end of the scale of the machine you reviewed, the smallest, most lightweight EGO mower is also appreciated by those who earn a living by gardening.
I hope this helps those undecided on battery electric mowers - just be sure to choose a brand that meets your needs - sometimes worth paying extra for the quality and power. I'm in no way affiliated with EGO but can speak highly of their products of which I use a number.
Thank you for your feedback mate, appreciate it 👍🏼
Great video Josh! Really impressive mower, I think I need one now
Thanks Garrett 👍🏼
Hi Josh, great demonstration on the EGO battery mower, no noisy petrol engine just sounds like a mains powered lawn mower with out the flex. This mower is a direct drive to the blade no belt slipping or a rattly chain. Plenty of height options and fitted with a good size collection bag at the back. Great video Take care👍
Thank you Shaun 👍🏼
Hi Josh nice one have a good weekend thanks again
All my Ego tools are so good. I REALLY wish they would get into making power tools. Hear me out. Festool already has the same color scheme. Adding Ego's battery system would be so perfect!!
Ego’s parent company also own Flex and Skil so they already have it there, but the Ego batteries would just be too big for power tools I think.
As a grass cutter in the uk. Plastic collection box are a good option even if they are sold as an extra
Looking forward to the next video you mentioned on this. This review felt a little short.
Does the self-propulsion lever let you ramp up and down between 0 and the selected speed? I have the residential version and the trigger button is basically on or off with very little ramping. I really really want one where the lever/bail lets you speed up/slow down (almost like a hydrostatic transmission does). I don't suppose this one has that?
Amazing review. Can you review on the sp noise if it’s noticeably mouser than previous models. Complaints about is residential version (2206sp). Also what did the underside look like after the mow. Thank you!
Looks great. Is there any sacrificial parts under the blade incase of hitting a hard object hidden in thick grass ? Or will this damage the machine beyond repair ? Thanks.
It's nice to see EGO finally make an updated Peak Technology walk behind lawn mower since the LM2142SP with the 8.3 ft-lb torque XP motor in 2019 before the SelectCut models were introduced due to the single 10.0Ah was not available at the time (using 2 x 5.0Ah) to achieve the torque rating (great power & runtime with 2 x 12.0Ah though!). That been said, it's too bad that it's for commercial only therefor no battery kit or 5 year warranty available. Hopefully the single battery residential SelectCut, sister model LM2206SP using the same aluminum deck of this commercial mower will become available in your region soon for a side to side comparison review. Thank you for the wonderful review of this mower as I am now contemplating on replacing the plastic handle bar on the LM2206SP with the black handle bars from the LMX5300SP after seen it protecting the main motor housing from loos low hanging branches!
yes got the lm21 like it for being light weight and foldable good machine
Thanks Russell 👍🏼
Awesome review! Many have complained about the Milwaukee 2823-20 mower's blade motor's plastic housing -the black bulge to which the blade connects. They say that when you hit a hard object, the housing breaks off and can not be repaired. Is the EGO blade motor housing made of plastic or metal? Also, does it vibrate the hands and cause numbness or tingling sensation? Thanks!
Love the reviews and videos yous do.
Can we please get a side by side comparison of the AS 531 mower vs Ego LMX5300 😉
Still on the fence as to which is better 😁
I’m wondering what Ego will bring out next, I personally love that pressure washer! I think they should do a small chipper/mulcher type thing, one of those would be great for someone who does a lot of hedge cutting. Like the size of those little Forest Master things.
What runtimes are you getting with the 10 and 7ah battery combo?
I received my LM5300 last week and I'm really impressed with it. I also have the Z6 52 and was impressed with how long the 5300 lasted even on my two smallest 2.5ah batteries I used for my initial test. I really think with a few larger batteries in a commercial setting you really could mow all day without too many battery issues at all.
I have 6 12ah batteries in my Z6 but will likely use my 5ah batteries in the 5300 as I don't need extreme runtime and it is a heavy machine already so is just makes it that bit lighter. Its a beast though and even on really tall grass it didnt flinch. As you showed too it bags really well too. Far better than the Honda izzy petrol mower that it replaced.
Thank you for your feedback mate, appreciate it. Careful to ou don’t cook the 2.5’s in there. I know they work but if you have bigger batteries, use them 👍🏼
Im trying to order one but this mower doesnt release in the US till May 15th, how did you get yours?
@@AngelWRLDx we’re in the UK, sometime we get product before you, sometime you get them before us 👍🏼
I'm debating on getting this mower. Is this a single blade only or can you add dual blades? Also, do the wheels lock up when pulling backward? I have a very thick lawn, 12k sq ft of KBG grass, huge oak and maple leaves that drop basketball sized leaves in the fall. I use my current Honda HRX 217HYA 200cc with hydrostatic transmission and have zero issues it cuts like a dream. I also use it to vacuum/bag trimmed yews, hydrangeas, etc, after pruning. However, I'm getting older and like the appeal of electric. My concerns are as follows:
1) Will this mower leave clumps, lines, and trails of grass while mowing
2) I've read reviews that this will not pick up/vacuum leaves very well even with the high lift blades installed (doesn't come with the mower, apparently)
3) Debating on getting two 12ah batteries buying mower by itself or the 10ah battery and charger combo and one additional 12ah battery as I want to be sure I can finish my tasks, I'd prefer a super fast dual battery charger if they make one
4) Most importantly, I've read where Ego customer service is a joke, and if your mower stops working, you're helpless and essentially have a very expensive paper weight due to no local dealer support
I'd appreciate any and all feedback or suggestions 😊
Great vid! When in eco does the blade speed ramp up when it encounters thicker grass?
No i dont think so, i think he said it only does in mode 2 (max) but if you're considering buying it, go for it man. EGO Got some really good products and won much awards of the best battery mower out of 80 different brands, and people doesnt say much bad about them.
We will check this 👍🏼
@@MachineryNation can you check it/use it in like 2 meter tall grass
The increase in torque is welcome but i really would like a 25 or 30" deck for a walk behind IMO. I own the 21" version with composite deck, very few complaints about its predecessor beyond:
1. the lack of cut width 2. the rear discharge chute for functionality was rubbish. 3. The 21" I owned had twin blades & it wouldn't cut well without the 'high lift' blades on it, the others just caused the machine to choke if the grass was even remotely tall or wet it would choke and stall.
Hope this offers meaningful improvements because the one it replaces was pricey.
I currently have 2 x EGO select cut XP mowers. One for my business and one for home. Great mowers for maintained lawns; not so good in the thick wet stuff. Pre ordered this commercial mower a few months ago and expecting it to arrive in Australia next month.
I ordered this one too even though I’m just a normal home owner. Sometimes my back yard gets too long and when it’s wet, my current ego (2021 select cut xp) gets bogged down. Hoping this commercial unit does deliver the same power as gas.
Does the transmission whine as it runs? Motor sound I get but I could not hear the self propelled whine. Also, does the speed ramp up or essentially just take off? Meaning as one rounds corners or traverses around obstacles, they can slow down a tad?
Based on one of the reviewer, they claimed that the LMX5300SP uses different transmission than the LM2206SP. The different transmission is supposedly less noiser. But by how much I don't know.
How would you compare this to the model under this LM2206SP? Should I return that one and buy this one?
The one you bought has a really loud whine when the self-propelled is engaged.
Does the HP and Torque claims meet SAE standards like ICE have to and it’s actually tested? Or are they just coming up with a “calculated” figure with their own specs from the battery, motor watts and motor poles ?
Can you get that with a roller?
I bought the EGO LM2135SP based on some reviews. I've used it twice and I have to say, it's no match for my old Hayter petrol mower for my 1/2 acre plot. It just will not collect grass very well if it's wet/damp, unless you're only taking a small amount off the top. I'm considering the 5300 but can't bring myself to part with that sort of cash and still potentially be faced with the same problem. In addition, the EGO warranty isn't transferable so difficult to sell my 2135. That said, The STX4500 strimmer, HTX6500 hedge trimmer and LB7650 blower work better than my old Stihl Kombi units.
what do you thinkof dewalts lawn care stuff?
@@randomrazr I don’t have any?
is it worth buying this over the residential version for a house?
It you’ve got a large garden then, yeah this would do you proud 👍🏼
It doesn’t ramp up in the thicker grass in all settings?
I’m pretty sure it does, we will check this in the next video 👍🏼
@@MachineryNation , my fault I meant to post my reply to inlinesix1187. You ended up telling them that you would check it out. Thanks for the reply though, I’m curious now to since they mentioned it…lol!
Battery power seems to be constantly improving lately, id love to see that in long wet grass though 🤷🏾♂️
I've got a much cheaper Husqvarna battery mower, and it does really well in the wet grass, remarkably so. I wasn't even expecting it to be as good as it is. I just wanted it for it's light weight.
also motor and inverter technology lithium batteries are pretty much at their peak maybe a bit of improvement for both. but given the huge batteries and motor its not surprising this is beating petrol.
That's what I'd like to see too!
👍👍👍

Is it as good as the big commercial Stihl battery machine?
I’m not aware Stihl make a full commercial mower as yet?
@@MachineryNation the Stihl RMA 745
Will it run on one battery
Yes
Try it in damp grass. See what results you get ?
We will in the next video 👍🏼
Had mine on damp grass not overly heavy, but I was getting less than half bags . But I still enjoy using it for what I need it to do
“Super turbo mode” unloaded RPM of 3,300 … I’m only getting 2,990 RPM after testing - that’s way slower than most commercial mowers of this size, and slower than battery Stihl, Milwaukee etc
As for EGO claiming blade tip speed is almost illegal because it’s reaching the speed of sound, well that’s not possible unless they dramatically increase RPM, or increase blade length.
I can’t believe they haven’t made a 24” or larger mower yet.
That’s would be good! All in good time sir 😂
Only thing id say is thats not commercial cut thats a once every 7 days put it in 2 foot of good spring grass
I did and believe me it can cope. In fact mine did so in lvl 2 and I didn't even need to put it up to the max power level. Its really impressed me and best of all because run time and ability to really fill its bag were way beyond what I was expecting from it. I knew it had the power but those other things and a few other small things like being able to store it stood up and easily access the deck to clean and maintain makes me feel this is really worth a genuine look as a commercial mower.
Just for clarity I was mowing about 8 to 10 inches of thick field grass as that's the tallest I had but honestly it didn't blink so I don't doubt it. My non non commercial Honda mower (izzy) would have struggled but the power this has is really impressive.
We will in the next video 👍🏼
Thank you … can you use the mower without connection to Bluetooth?
Don’t particularly like companies spying!
Yes you can use it fine without connecting 👍🏼
@@MachineryNation is it a condition of their warranty that you connect to send data back ?
@@garageblitztv3215 nope, not that I’m aware of. Just another designer adding something to keep their job probably, thinking it’s what people want when it’s not 😂😂
@@MachineryNation mine has turned up … bloody heavy, but seems very sturdy. Could I humbly ask you for tips regarding the adjustable front and rear … there’s nothing in the instructions as to why or when you would run at an angle when mowing.
Now vs the Milwaukee 21"
Great idea 👍🏼
Looks good. Battery mowers are useful sometimes, but as a main commercial mower you have to have petrol.
Honestly I disagree. This mower has more power than any petrol mower I have used and also the runtime has really impressed me too. And for contractors I think the little details like the fact that you can transport it upright taking up very little van space will be super helpful. Also time will tell but as with EV cars there are very few mechanical parts to go wrong, minimal servicing and because you can just flip it over its easy to clean and maintain blades too.
Thank you for your feedback mate, appreciate it 👍🏼
@@jerzee3600EVs are a gimmick and nobody is buying them
have the makita 40v with 2 8 ah batteries. and grabbed this one to compare... ego was sent back the following week. They need to quit trying to be the cool kid on the block and make something that is quiet, powerful, and quit cheaping out where it counts on the battery internals and gearboxes. Ego has great potential but a shit final approval and design team, when they stop worrying about likes on social media and focus more on the quality of their final product. We will have a decent offering from them. Until then... looking forward to next year. Maybe they will paint it lamborghini anthracite silver and give it a pinstripe with some bright orange rims.... all jokes aside, they need to skip the bs.. better batteries, better wheel design with ball bearings, and for the love of god no more AI in your mowers. I want it dumb as a brick... it goes forward from 1-4 mph- has a High and Low cut blade speed and it cuts for the stated time on the battery.
46 kgs … more like 54.2 Kgs as it doesn’t go too well without batteries!
Can't be as good as sheep 🐏
Depends what you’re doin with them?

It's still loud
It’s still powerful 👍🏼
1,600 Watts only converts to 2.145635 HP. Lawnmower engines are advertised at a significant more HP than they actually operate at and electric motors can pull a lot more energy than rated making more hp than rated, but this electric lawnmower is not going to compete with a 6.5 HP gasoline mower when it comes to tall grass and speed. I'd think it would compete with 4 hp gasoline mower. The grass being cut in the video is of small power needs mostly being short.
There have been tests of a top gasoline residential walk behind mower of the same cutting width with a top performing battery electric mower cutting a 1/2 acre. The electric mower was impressive, but it was no contest. The gasoline mower finished the job in 2/3 of the time of the electric mower. What was impressive is the electric mower could actually cut that much grass and at that height.
Considering the time spent in taking care of a gasoline mower, insuring good gasoline, getting the gasoline and storing it, if having only a 1/4 acre of land the electric mower is probably saving time over the gasoline mower. It is also quieter and you are not smelling like unburned hydrocarbons. You are still smelling of grass.
On their site it's listed as 4000W max, 1600 rated. Are they using the max to attain their rating or.... I did speak to an Ego rep at a show and I was told their torque rating is constant not stall so that's nice but like you said there is no way you can pull a constant 3729W from out current battery tech and have decent runitme. That being said I have this machine and on 2 12ah batteries I get just over an hour on high to max blade speed with self propelled on. For simple maths sake 1344 watt hours of battery gets me about an hour. Sof nominal consumption is around 1200ish watts for the blade AND self propelled unit. But, it cuts just as well as my Honda Commercial and new Scagg 7hp Kohler just with a caveat of runtime. I save it for early morning and late evening cuts to avoid upsetting people.
A WiFi mower would be better idea no need of battery
A WiFi mower?
battery mowers suck and are crap and a lie the are also inferior to gas mowers by far
😂 you're funny
That’s a uk model! Not a usa model!! Way overpriced!! Cut quality isn’t the greatest!
Never buy a Cordless mower
You're such a funny person 😁
@@jordanharetuku9044 I have cordless tools, Hedge trimmers, Garden Multi tool, Strimmers etc. I looked at mowers and would say they are a luxury.
Cutting grass is hard work on the engine and even 4 hp engines can struggle. I have heard battery mowers quickly overheat and the run time can be less that 20 mins.
I can see they have a use, but a cheap petrol or corded mower will probably be better.
That’s like saying never buy a tractor 100 years ago lol. Stick to horses and buggies. Electric is the future. They’re getting better. It’s over.
