  • How to fix lawn dips while fixing your tired lawn. A simple guide to lawn levelling.
    In this video, I will be showing you how to fix all the various dips and bumps in your lawn. This is carried out during the renovation stage of creating a nice new lawn.
    The dip levelling process begins at 23:45, however if you watch all the video parts you can see what order and how I carry out each part (and why).
    The end result will be a lawn that looks so much better, and will be much flatter and easier to maintain.

    The only thing better than learning from someone who explains as well as you, and is as clearly knowledgable as you, is getting to listen to your very charming and lovely accent. So nice to know what I've been doing right, and what I can do in addition to improve my lawn. I recently moved to the Pacific Northwest (Washington State, USA). My lawn has shady spots full of moss and sunny spots full of weeds because it was stressed by lack of water a couple of years ago. I wish I could hire you to help me out, but at least I feel like I know what to do now! Thanks so much!

      I am in Washington also and am 77 and my daughter is letting me landscape and work in her yard. She hates yard work. My son mows for her but like your lawn, hers is full of clover and some tiny weeds that flower and dandelions. I need to do all of the things he just showed us but don't have any tools like he has so will have to improvise. I hope it's not too late to get started. I did see some stuff at Home Depot that is soil with seed in it that I might get to join a couple of the steps he showed us. Thank heavens her front and backyard aren't a huge lawn. I first need to find that aerator tool. Wish me luck.

    • @stever2583
      @stever2583 Před 7 dny

      the largest issue in the pacific northwest is drainage...Very very few lawns were built... they at best had top soil placed on top of what was there and added turf or seed. Lawns are built! there are many people and companies who show you how to build from baser to PGA grass or Lawn Bowling grass!

    This care you’re giving to what appears to be a rather complex lawn is levels above what I’ve seen as typical landscaping work in the U.S. We tend to do mowing and very little else. Oh, yes. I do see amazing lawns here, but I also wonder how costly it is for the full TLC someone like you provides.

    Shaun, perfect timing, I hope you don't mind me asking where I have filled and levelled a largest dip in the lawn with top soil is it recommended to over seed or would the grass under neath be able to grow and push through? Thank you once again for helpful and inspiring tips.

    • @LawnRight
      @LawnRight  Před měsícem +1

      Hi it may push through depending on the depth of soil but I'd probably want to seed.. If I was doing that without seeing I would just add a cm or 2,and bruhd it in between the blades.. Within the dip.. Let the grass grow taller then repeatevery few weeks

    Absolutely massive days work! And such an informative video - than you. Do you have a rule of thumb for estimating how much seed, fertiliser and compost you’ll need for a particular job?

    • @LawnRight
      @LawnRight  Před 17 dny

      Not so much.. I've got my own pricing sheet based on sq metres.. But a typical 40litre bag of fine compost can do anywhere from 7 to 10 sq metres.. Thanks

    Watched this from start to finish, really insightful. You explain all aspects so clearly, I have a question on scarifying & aeration. I had turf put down roughly 2 years ago, it isnt spongy but the benefits of aeration and scarifying are clear. Should I leave it a few more years before attempting?

    • @LawnRight
      @LawnRight  Před dnem

      Hi it's possible to scarify the same year if a lawn needs it, so you can definitely give it a go when it suits you once it gets a little spongy.. Or very light and often to keep the spongy layer down
